[18:12] MarcelvanLeeuwen Goodmorning btw [18:12] intelliant Good morning!! [18:13] MarcelvanLeeuwen In my part of the world it's already evening :) [18:14] intelliant Any mine, late evening...so we are not too far. Where are the one's with the sun? [18:14] MarcelvanLeeuwen I'm living in the Netherlands [18:14] intelliant Me in India. [18:15] MarcelvanLeeuwen Okay [18:15] MarcelvanLeeuwen Never saw your nick before... [18:15] MarcelvanLeeuwen Can"t remember :) [18:15] intelliant Am facing a technical challenge and it is urgent as mails are bouncing back. Found no precedence in the forums. [18:15] intelliant Yes, was almost always dormant. Am there in the forums though. :) [18:15] cc-daveloper hey [18:16] intelliant That's Dave, right? [18:16] cc-daveloper yes [18:16] intelliant For once I mistook it for cc-developer :) [18:16] MarcelvanLeeuwen Hey Dave [18:16] cc-daveloper what happens when you send a mail message using telnet [18:16] intelliant Any news on the transition's progress? [18:17] cc-daveloper UA-10614689-3 [18:17] cc-daveloper sorry…mis type [18:17] cc-daveloper check this URL [18:17] cc-daveloper http://www.yuki-onna.co.uk/email/smtp.html [18:17] cc-daveloper The transition is going well. The programmers have been working all night. [18:18] MarcelvanLeeuwen The site looks good! [18:18] cc-daveloper Thanks! [18:18] MarcelvanLeeuwen Like the front page with the short movie [18:18] cc-daveloper I’m in that movie btw [18:18] MarcelvanLeeuwen Yes I notice [18:18] cc-daveloper :) [18:18] MarcelvanLeeuwen :) [18:19] intelliant Where can I get the peek? [18:19] cc-daveloper clearos.com [18:19] intelliant Don't see any link in the post. [18:19] intelliant okay [18:19] MarcelvanLeeuwen But your are the only person I reconized [18:21] intelliant New site, really looking neat. :) [18:22] intelliant Minimalistic with maximum impact. [18:23] MarcelvanLeeuwen Yes it looks really good [18:24] MarcelvanLeeuwen Very professional [18:24] intelliant May I post my technical issue herein? [18:25] MarcelvanLeeuwen I think it's no problem [18:25] intelliant 1. /tmp/ folder is building up with such files - mailfilterclearos_apps_mail_routing_Filter_Incoming.s7EgH0 randomly. The files contain the mail contents. I say randomly because I don't see a pattern as yet. This seems to be happening from April 6th. No automatic package updates happened that day or the day-before as per yum log. [18:25] intelliant 2. And another symptom is that the bounced mails are having this [18:25] intelliant :Command time limit exceeded: "/usr/sbin/mailpostfilter". Command output: PHP Strict Standards: Non-static method PEAR::isError() should not be called statically, assuming $this from incompatible context in /usr/share/pear/Net/LMTP.php on line 291 PHP Strict Standards: Non-static method PEAR::isError() should not be called statically, assuming $this from incompatible context in /usr/share/pear/Net/LMTP.php on [18:26] cc-daveloper first, check and see that you have enough free hard disk space: [18:26] cc-daveloper df -h [18:26] intelliant Something similar to the 2nd one has been reported herein - http://www.clearfoundation.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,232/catid,14/func,view/id,69703/ . But I am unable to relate to the solution as no such ip_conntrack* package is installed. [18:26] cc-daveloper then, if you do, run updates: [18:26] cc-daveloper yum update [18:26] intelliant Yes, there is sufficient space, already did that [18:26] intelliant Done. Updates checked. [18:26] intelliant Latest are there [18:27] intelliant will revert with repolist output [18:28] intelliant http://pastebin.ca/2973360 [18:30] intelliant For mails which are found in /tmp have been delivered to the intended recipients. Hence they seem to be different from the ones which bounced back with the :Command time limit exceeded: "/usr/sbin/mailpostfilter" issue. [18:30] intelliant Another point is that off late have been seeing these PHP errors in the bounced mails. Why's that? [18:31] cc-daveloper The mail filter uses Pear and PHP to do some filtration. [18:31] intelliant Got that. Have checked debugging levels in php.ini, nothing changed on purpose. [18:31] intelliant So does this indicate a bug that needs reporting? [18:33] cc-daveloper You may want to temporarily disable one or several of the filtration things and then see if mail flows correctly. [18:34] intelliant As I said, this behaviour is random and cannot be simulated. It just happens that users suddenly complain about bounced mails or not having received mails that they were expecting. In first case, we see the bounce reasons with the PHP dump and in the 2nd we check the postfix queue and find it all queued up. Within the next few minutes it auto clears up. [18:35] intelliant No special filters setup herein. Which ones do you recommend to disable. [18:35] intelliant Only normal virus and anti-spam scanners are in place. [18:35] intelliant Are you referring to changing stuff in /etc/postfix/master.cf ? [18:37] intelliant This has started happening on an otherwise happy server over the last fortnight. I ignored the first 2 incidents, but yesterday this trend continued for 4+ hours, hence I thought it needs a serious look. Managed to dig in today and found the build up in /tmp [18:38] cc-daveloper If this is random, it may be that there is an abnormal message being put to the mail filter or sub-process. It is possible too that a subsystem is crashing. Does the problem go away after a reboot? [18:38] intelliant Did you check the repolist I shared? [18:39] intelliant Only package to update now is clearsdn-content-filter. [18:39] intelliant 6.1-20150415.1028 [18:41] MarcelvanLeeuwen joined #clearfoundation [18:42] cc-daveloper I saw that. That is all seemingly normal. [18:43] cc-daveloper Does the problem go away after a reboot? [18:43] intelliant Have not done a reboot for the last 120 days. [18:44] intelliant And we do not need to reboot to resolve the problem of queued up mails, they automatically clear in a few minutes. [18:44] intelliant And can't test with a reboot for the bounced mails. [18:44] cc-daveloper Is there any clue in the /var/log/maillog [18:44] intelliant I general if you recommend a reboot, then yes can do that and wait and watch for the next 2-3 days. [18:45] intelliant maillog has the same PHP and PEAR errors. [18:45] intelliant I believe we are countering multiple issues instead of just one. [18:47] intelliant heaps of these errors - http://pastebin.ca/2973380 [18:49] intelliant Do you suggest that I reboot and observe over the next 2-3 days?
