hi chibaguy: I read your questions from hours ago (thanks to irc.tw.o log)
hiding nonviewable modules on right column (hiding column, in fact) works for me on http://intercanvis.net (using thenews.css and Tiki 2.0) chibaguy: hi xavi. yes, it's great to have loggin again (thanks to amette also).
OK, maybe it's a local problem for me. xavi: and also here, on another tiki install: http://moviments.net/ilp/ , also 2.0 on the same server but different instal, and using nornia.css modified
might be
and small question for you, now. I upgraded wiki-translation.com with the latest kubrick.css you did...
great work, it fixes some recent weird bug we were seing on translation feature...
...but I noticed that header images are different, and seem to behave different...
...I mean, header image is much much longer, but only displayed a short bit.... chibaguy: Different since 1.9? The method of using the background image is changed. xavi: thus, when you add the header image title to the jpg, you don't add it in the middle, but on one side, so that it's displayed in the middle of the screen on the site...
see: bg image, that's it. Last 2 sentences:
see this: http://wiki-translation.com/styles/kubrick/headerbg.jpg . When chibaguy: The logo is expected to be a separate image, not having any of the header background parts. xavi: visiting http://wiki-translation.com pages shows ok the header. My question is: is it going to be displayed non-centered (since it's an image) on a computer with wider screen, or different browser, etc.? I mean, why a wider image bg?
ah, oups! :-/ My mistake, then. I didn't read the readme file again, I guess chibaguy: The wide background image is used in case wide content causes the kubrick rectangle to widen. Only the needed amount of the image shows, in narrow windows, etc. xavi: mmm, ok, I see chibaguy: I will make a doc page with illustrations, about the header and logo parts.
(on the todo list ;-) ) -: xavi looking for the readme to read how to use the logo, then chibaguy: You can use the Look & Feel options. just make a smaller logo and specify it on that admin page.
But maybe the logo margins might have to be changed in css for an especially big logo. xavi: wel, don't worry too much about it, I guess new kubrick users first try to use the look & feel admin options, which make it much easier ***: mattbmc has joined #tikiwiki chibaguy: I intended L&F to be fully functional for these themes. If there's a problem I need to go back and improve things. xavi: no problem that I know if, so far. don't worry. And I confirm: my mistake due to not reading the new readme file. You wrote:
"One image is used for the header background. (It's actually the background image for a few nested divs, to provide the image end sections as well as the middle.) A logo image can be set in Look & Feel, or text can be used for the site title, input in the custom code box of the Look & Feel config page."
Fair enough for normal users (not so dump as me this time :-/ ) or new users -: xavi is in process to try the "normal" and easy way to add a logo chibaguy: For a logo like wiki-translations, it'll be somewhat tricky because the gradient needs to match. I image fine-tuning the top-margin in kubrick.css will be necessary.
(assuming you will crop the current logo image so that only the logo itself remains.) xavi: mmmm, ok, then, and logo transparency when too much colours were used (like in this current wt logo) will make those problems rise up again: gif not showing all inside gradient in logo, and png not displying properly in IE6....
I think I'll leave as it is, for this time ("don't touch it if it works", and there is no wuick and easy solution to it) chibaguy: I wouldn't use transparency at all. I'd start with an image like your current logo (which has the header background gradient) and just crop it. Then place that image in the header via L&F and adjust the postion in kubrick.css. xavi: mmm, ok, I'll try (I'm already sftp'd there)
(I think that new logo I made myslef I'll made them through gif & transparency with not so many colours....)
(I didn't make this logo version for w-t, btw, I had made another one lonog ago without so many colours/gradient inside; anyway)
chibaguy: look now: http://wiki-translation.com
doesn't look easy to fit the image cropped into the gradient....
not that image / logo cropped, but a new one crop, to fit in the gradient....
oh, well, I'll try re-cropping the original logo with just blue background.... maybe it fits as well (?) as the previous image (at least not worse, hopefully) chibaguy: By cropped I mean _only_ the logo itself, with no header border. xavi: yes, yes, I know chibaguy: Oh, ok. xavi: the logo we've been using for months had the header border... chibaguy: If it's trimmed closely on the left and right sides, then it should center ok, I think. xavi: I've just re-cropped just logo and blue bg, and well, sort of works.... ***: Wilkins has joined #tikiwiki chibaguy: Hey, pretty good.
But a difference in the gradient.
I guess to be perfect you could start again with the current header backgrounds and add your text, in the graphics program. xavi: ok, I'll re-crop it with shorter right margin. And gradient: yes, that's what I told you. It's not that easy fittting it in the gradient iy you don't have the upper header bg.... I guess chibaguy: That's where the css padding and margin adjustments are needed, I'd say.
The default values are just kind of general. Given that the logo image can be various sizes, it's hard to know what to set initially in the css file. xavi: yes, but I don't have the source image, and the workshop in Porto (http://wiki-translation.com/BabelWiki ) is starting in a couple of weeks: I don't feel like changing the logo too much .... (plus I have plenty of other things in my todo task before then, so I'll do whatever is good enough for the time being... not perfect)
"hard to set in the css file": you re right. ÇThat's why I say that next time if I make a logo myself, I'll do my best to produce it as gif with transparency and enough short list of colors so that it fits in gif
(gif has not patent issues since a couple of years, afaik)
(patent expired, afaik)
oh well, there it is. I leave it as is right now, and send a message to the person who mgith have the source image for that logo, in case they want to re-make it using current header bg position, etc.
thanks for your help, Gary! :-) ***: Bilal has quit IRC (Read error: 113 (No route to host)) chibaguy: Hey, looks pretty good. :-) You're welcome. ***: Lucymoz has quit IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out)) chibaguy: If you could bump the image down a bit in the CSS file, that'd be even better. xavi: ok, thanks for the tip... btw, I found the source image (or what it looks like) on the w-t server: with .pdn extension????
googling it seems to be a paintnet image (I had never heard about it): http://filext.com/file-extension/PDN
I'll give it a try (I hope it works under linux through wine) -: xavi is giving it a try (no more than 5 extra minutes trial) xavi: oups, it requires M$ .NET framework to be installed - so no linux trial nowadays. I might try later on, when I boot with M$
thanks again, back to work on other stuff related to the BabelWiki workshop... chibaguy: ok, good luck. xavi: thanks ***: djst has joined #tikiwiki chibaguy: xavi, at certain page widths, I see the last of the "n" appearing again to the right of the logo text, as if the logo image is present more than once but usually covered. I can't see that effect) chibaguy: ah, ok, that was the problem. :-) xavi: :-)
chibaguy: I wonder whether this is important at all, but just in case: I see on page source that 1.9to1.10.css is still referenced on kubrick:
<!-- cssfile 50 --> <link rel="stylesheet" href="styles/transitions/1.9to1.10.css" type="text/css" />
see page source of http://wiki-translation.com/tiki-index.php?page=Admin+Todos , for instance chibaguy: That's because of the admin setting in Look & Feel, apparently. xavi: but that file doesn't exist., that's what I mean. shouldn't it be something like 1.9to2.0.css ?
(no idea if that other file exists or not) chibaguy: Oh, yeah, that'd be a bug then. xavi: Ok, I'll look for references to that file in the 2.0 code chibaguy: But I believe the theme doesn't actually need a transitions stylesheet. I'm trying to keep it up to date. xavi: ok chibaguy: Ooo, shadowbox works at intercanvis.net. I'm jealous.
Why not at my 2.0 site?

modifications require approval ricks99: and until it is approved, the prior version of the plugin is rendered for viewers? lphuberdeau_: no
can't do miracles ricks99: but ur soooo close :) lphuberdeau_: actually, there is a huge leap inbetween ***: Caarrie|away is now known as Caarrie ricks99: ok. so the new privilidge is to approve it. anyone still with edit can submt it

Was looking at way you exported the data in the CSV export for trackers. Noticed you used a template for it. Was wondering which was the best way to approach it...

the + with tpl is you can image to export into xml ... instead of csv kerrnel: you can?
If you're exporting say 10,000 records and using a template, doesn't that linearly increase the performance hit where the script may take longer than the max execute time?
Just wondering if exporting a large number of records is best served being done without a template. You can pretty much export to any format you want with the right header can't you? sylvieg: i think that optimisation must be done first in the tracker code - the tpl/code will be the last touch
right now - exporting (when you have item list... ) is very slow ***: RobotGuy has joined #TikiWiki
