NefariousCIs this interface (http://badhuman.net/tiki/tiki-admin_dynamic_color_picker.php) too complicated? [01:04]
chibaguyNefariousC, no, it seems ok to me. [01:09]
***marclaporte has joined #tikiwiki [01:13]
chibaguyIs this meant to work with a particular tiki theme? Future themes aren't likely to have table-based layout. [01:14]
NefariousCIt's pretty much tikineat when you look up its skirt.
I guess it depends on how, and how much, mystical future themes diverge.
[01:15]
CaarrieNefariousC: chibaguy is working on making those future themes ;) [01:16]
chibaguysure, that's cool. I'm just looking at the more or less consensus about using *litecss as default.
Or something even better, of course.
But surely not table based in 2008.
[01:17]
NefariousCSo the css is styles/lite/lite.css ? [01:20]
chibaguyThat's imported to set the basic column layout, yes.
well, Feb12, The News, Darkroom, Tikinewt, Simple, and Simple-Amette themes in 2.0 use this method.
[01:20]
NefariousCThe interface is only loosely coupled to the CSS, so it will be relatively straightforward to glue in d: [01:22]
chibaguygreat :-) [01:23]
NefariousC(The colours and stuff are just preference values; and the CSS are smarty templates...) [01:23]
chibaguyThis says a little about litecss vs. table-based layout, if you'd like to check: http://themes.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Tiki_110_Theme_Ideas
Our own luciash is the author of the method. (http://sourceforge.net/projects/litecss)

chibaguywell, that's fun
Is there a master reset button to push when my pallet is kinda depleted?
[01:48]
NefariousCAt the moment, you'll have to type in a hex-colour
I argued with the moorainbow colour-picker for a while, but couldn't get it to play nicely d:
(But it does use png transparency as best as I can tell, so it'd be a bit broken for IE)
[01:50]
marclaportepolom [01:52]
chibaguyI figured entering a hex number would add a color, but wasn't sure if hitting return might cause a submit instead. [01:54]
NefariousCIt used to have a button labled.. "Bing!". [01:54]
chibaguyok, that'd be good.
hi marclaporte
Seems like a "reset pallet to default" button would be good, too. I can imagine this getting pushed out to an extreme with all shades of near-white or something.
[01:55]
NefariousCYeah.. I had actually figured on building some kind of way to choose from a set of preselected palettes. [01:58]
chibaguyexcellent, if it can be managed. [01:59]
NefariousCI'd be more worried about rainbows <:
Mostly I hadn't figured out a convenient way of typing them <:
[01:59]
chibaguyYou mean due to the subjectivity of pallets? [02:02]
NefariousCNah, more in terms of where I should put the data (:
It seems like the kind of thing that should belong to a theme; but I can't think of an obvious place to put associated data for a theme.

danopia``bai [02:03]
NefariousC(Although I guess being able to save the current colour set as you're playing with it would be kindof dandy...) [02:05]

chibaguyhi marclaporte. Yes, it could be a nice tool for getting a new look.
Maybe not for use with every theme, or anyway to be used carefully with some themes that wouldn't welcome strange color changes.
But it would be fun/good to make a kind of base theme that would expect admins to finish the job with this pallet tool.

leon007Greetings
can anyone spare a simple answer to hopefully a simple question?
It has to do with a homepage... I want to include on my homepage some customary welcome greetings and then a bunch of info that would be soread out accross wiki. For example, I want to include Users Map as well as say "teasers" of 1 or 2 articles. How do I do it?
I guess in a way it's similar to tikiwiki.org homepage which has lots of pieces of info in one place...
Much obliged...
[06:46]
chibaguyleon007, the tikiwiki.org homepage uses the Articles module to list news stories.
The modules are usually displayed in side columns, but can be put in a wiki page using the Modules wikiplugin.
Check out doc.tikiwiki.org on modules and wikiplugins.

leon007thanks chibaguy (I stepped away from the computer for a minute)
What about including Users Map on the homepage, how would i go about that?
[07:00]
chibaguyWhere does users map usually display? I can't find the address right now. [07:07]
I found the file -- tiki-gmap_usermap.php -- but am not very familiar with how it works. [07:12]
Any module is easy to display in the wiki page. Otherwise, you have to might have to make a custom module or wikiplugin, and how hard this is depends on the task and your skills.
There's a "gmap" wikiplugin that puts a google map in a wiki page, but to display other data, specified for the use (http://mods.tikiwiki.org/Dist/wikiplugins-gmap-1.3.tgz). Maybe this could be used to display the site usermap, I don't know.

@ricks99: we use the CATEGORY plugin extensively on index and portal pages. If freetags become the more popular method on our site, it would be helpful to do the same with them.
[16:36]
ricks99not sure i follow. already, tiki will list all the tags for a speciic page. click the tag and get a list of items with that tag. u mean just list all items already, without having the xtra 'click' [16:42]
