Geoffrey_ has joined #tikiwiki Geoffrey_: |Is it me, or can I not create Nested forums intiki?
What I have is, a list of departments, each department has its own forum list, and I have 1 Forum called Meeting Minutes which is a new Topic within Meeting Minutes, So to seperate the Forums, I have to create fancy naming of the forums to seperate them
For example Like Division-Department-Meeting Minutes.
Any suggestions, maybe I am using Forums for the wrong purpose, they wanted to upload word documents, but the search engine will not find stuff within the attachments. luciash: hi Geoffrey_, why not to use file galleries instead for uploading files/documents ? Geoffrey_: is it searchable? we are using file gallerys for other things.
btw, hi Luciash luciash: don't know from top of my head how much it is searchable... or maybe trackers would fit, or create wiki pages structure and let them upload attachments to the wiki pages
maybe that's the most easiest to set up
the wiki pages structure with allowing attachments to them
i think you have to test that out ;) Geoffrey_: yep!ill try it! ***: vilisi_t has joined #tikiwiki luciash: forums are too complicated for the purpose i think Geoffrey_: I have ben simplifiying them down a bit, need toget users feedback luciash: wiki pages can have comments to get the feedback too
+ you can have the nested structure Geoffrey_: one of the issues I have though is if 1 team create minutes call Oct1meeting, and another team does the same thing, the wiki will cross link them to the same page!
its harder to train the users then to configure the system!! lol ***: SebPaquet_ has joined #tikiwiki Geoffrey_: whats the big difference and focus between Tiki2 and tiki3>? luciash: that it isn't released yet ? :)
aka unfinished stuff :) lots of new features but not fully functional... Geoffrey_: just wonder on the direction, Some features that are in systems like Horrible J2EE system called Vignette is the Workflow. but you can pretty much work around it with in the tikie strucutre, and hide the menus from the users! luciash: we're also trying to make things easier configurable, code simplification, polishing, etc. Geoffrey_: yeh, thats more important! luciash: i don't know Vignette Geoffrey_: you dont want to. but the scmp.com is written in Vigette. luciash: btw, for the meetings i'd consider using tracker or calendar events and link them from the wiki pages using tracker wiki plugins... you can categorize the items created and then limit the listing in the tracker wiki plugin, so for the corresponding wiki page you get listing of the categorized tracker items
it's all about playing and finding what fits best from tiki ;) Geoffrey_: yeh. ***: SebPaquet has quit IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))

The mentioned drop down menus are used to fill inn a link(reference) in a list of project ownership. This link should point to the object in the persons tracker.
...so this is a tracker question. Forgot to mention.
The second is on using the trackerlist plugin in a description field of a first tracker. When listing the first tracker the webpage generated seems to fail. Only way to fix the problem seems to be to edit the field data from a MySQL client. Is this a known bug, or should it be filed as a consistency? The thought of having a trackerlist of tasks within the descriptive field of a project is quite logical from my point of view. Less technical dudes
I guess the first issue could be solved by introducing string handling to the "computed field" tracker type? Tried adding two fields (text fields) but it didn't work. Any sugestions? luciash: ragnvald: trackerlist wiki plugin is primary intended to be used in wiki pages so it might be problem when trying to use it in tracker description field (infinite loop maybe ?)

does anyone have experience running tikiwiki ob a postgresql-db?
my 2.0 won't install (i think its supposed to create the tables right now) due to db-related problems (seems to be syntax-stuff --- .$dbTiki->Execute( "show tables" ) in tiki-installer.php won't agree with postges...)
i' ditch the installer .php files, but i dunno where to find a postgres-sql script to generate the tables i need... sylvieg: it is possible it is bugged - not a lot of person use postgres - the sql is in db/tiki.sql hoepen: hmm..
sorry, this file is also in mysql-syntax.
ENGINE=MyISAM , #-comments etc
every sql-script i find is commented with "# phpMyAdmin MySQL-Dump"... ohertel: sylvieg: you mean the 'file gallery' and the podcast type for saving stuff in there?
Can't remember what it does 'exactly', it's ages ago. But it's designed so that you can get direct links for playing the files, which you usually cannot as the links are hidden.
Sylvie: if (in_array($ext,array("m4a", "mp3", "mov", "mp4", "m4v", "pdf"))) { $fhash .= ".".$ext; }
It saves the extension for those. sylvieg: yes ohertel: That way with the given RDF you can use the podcast file gallery as input for a podcast player. :) sylvieg: so like this you can access directly the file ohertel: tiki-file_gallery_rss.php checks if the gallery is podcast/vidcast and gives you the paths. sylvieg: no need of tiki-download? ohertel: right, tiki-download.php?$id=%s is replaced with $prefs['fgal_podcast_dir']."%s" for the podcasts.
So you get the direct link. sylvieg: thank you for the explanation - I will update the doc ohertel: I am not sure if that is the best solution. Maybe this circumvents possible access/download counters in the tiki-download.php
But I am not sure if a link like tiki-download.php?id=someid works with the podcast clients.
