where on the site is there a list of developers who are "certified" to customize a Tiki-based site? is there even such a place?
InsiderT, there isn't such a certification.
But there's a list of people here: http://info.tikiwiki.org/Consultants
thanks chibaguy, I'll reach out to some of them
Is there a list of certifiable ones? :-)
SEWilco, depends on what you mean by certifiable, I guess. There's nothing set up to certify people.
It's American slang for "certifiably insane". :-]
Oh, OK, in that case, the list on info.tw.o is probably accurate.
Though these days the certification criteria are getting murkier....
chibaguy: around?
couple of questions about the pagecontrols thing being develoed in ui.tiki
hi mlpvolt. What's up?
hey, knew if i stayed up late enough :)
heh
checking out the progress on ui.tiki
noting that there is now a pagecontrols.tpl
Yep.
...how do you add or remove things from that list?
the
implies a menu, which is nice.
The list is the features, etc. that have been activated.
reflecting perms, etc.
ok, so basically all eligible items are being collected in an array of sorts.
Yes.
where did the code go that tested all the perms?
That was in the template before? In a lib.
If you look in /lib, there are some new files with PageControls in the names.
interesting . . . if grok what is happening then it it doesn't recheck perms every time you visit a page, or is that sequence just moved elsewhere in the chain.
I haven't looked at how it works. lph is the guy to ask about that. Perms are still checked, I'm sure.
....where the list is created.
haven't found it yet in lib but thats not urgent.
q2 re: the second row in the wiki pagetitle block
is that ont its way to becoming tabs?
Actually it's tabs now. If the content area below matched color-wise, it'd be more obvious. But this row can also be styled as buttons or links, etc.
If you change the theme at ui.tw.o to The News, you can see an alternative styling.
i'm referring to View Edit Categorize Comments 0 Attachments 1 History
Right.
Those are tabs.
in my vocab tabs would be something that didn't reload the page, but those are different urls.
This follows the layout Pascal and Patrick showed at TikiFest.
I think lph described tabs as different views of the same content. The fact that the url changes may be an implementation detail. Pretty much the page has to reload unless Ajax is used to refresh the tab content.
In terms of function, tabs and buttons are similar, to me. Both do actions on the page rather than provide navigation.
In Tiki, when Ajax is turned on, wiki page edits happen without a page reload, so we're part way there. ;-)
Anyway, the pagecontrols thing improves functionality in a big way. How it's presented visually can be adjusted as we go along.
yeah thats definitely where the happy place is. :) not waiting for a reload.
it looks like there is at most four dropdowns that can appear on the same line as the h1 pagetitle.
There's definitely a potential problem with title width and the number/width of dropdowns.
backlinks, actions, language, help (on edit screen)
i really like that solution.
yep, a long pagetitle needs room to wrap.
yeah, how the action items are positioned is totally up to the css.
Also the title width, etc.
What I'm trying to do now is massage the tpls into a form that will allow lots of flexibility via css.[
The COE theme is rather unique in some ways, layout-wise. So it's a bit of a challenge to get the tpls to also support more typical page layouts (thenews.css, etc.).
i have a suggestion for showpage that we
a) move the staging and approval down so it sits under the controls and just above the parsed text.
b) wrap the content in a conditional div so as to enable a .wikitext .staged selector or a "draft" watermark or something.
OK. To tell you the truth I've never even looked at staging yet.
Not even casually.
But definitely it's good to get your suggestions on this.
perhaps the same result could be achieved with whatever category the staging ends up in.
in general for showpage i'm hoping we can declutter the page as much as possible
pagecontrols seems like a fairly sweet solution so far.
now imo we need to remove the table that is used for structure nav.
Yeah, I'm sure the structure nav table will be removed.
I've replaced it with divs in some of my themes, so it shouldn't be hard to do.
i've sone the same . . . . don't want to have to do it every time any more :)
are you doing tiki full time for a while?
Heh, as it turns out. My company here went down the tubes.
So I'm 'available'. ;-)
I'm happy except for not much cash coming in.
Some tiki stuff, thank goodness.
i always find that around xmas it is impossible to get people (clients) to focus on anything
trying to get responses is a pain.
Here in Japan, Christmas is not such a big deal, not even an official holiday. But companies are busy trying to finish things up by the end of the year. So for me in the past it was always a busy time.
have you heard anything about the tiki marketing strategy?
i really liked the ideas that were being kicked aorund in montreal.
Not other than what has been posted at tw.o by Mat since then.
I don't know what the strategy is to move forward on that stuff.
A lot of ideas were kicked around, but there needs to be some process to focus some discussion and decision-making.
uhuh
well mat needs a little support and encouragement i think.
I think maybe this ui-revamp is sucking up energy, anyway from my perspective. Maybe when it's more solid, then on to marketing. But after the holidays, for sure.
i still feel like a junior community member, so i kinda am interested in how the "sr" members think about this.
anyway i'm pretty sure that if we can kick up the marketing three or four notches there will be a lot more contract work in tiki.
At Montreal, people talked about how it was hard to get Tiki accepted seriously by companies, so better marketing, product image, etc., is needed for that.
For the first impression.
totally.
One way or another, it'll happen, I think.
in most orgs the IT staff love the software but the decisionmaker$ aren't falling in love.
These days I would guess cost-effectiveness is a big selling point.
this link is my "optimal" structure nav.
http://www.nw.wea.org.uk/tiki-index.php?page=The%20WEA%20Educational%20Strands&structure=Teaching
(this is a theme patrick and i worked on btw.)
just structure breadcrumbs and a link to view/modify structure
Nice and clear.
i think we should be bold and just get rid of some things - i was noting that the whole heading/pagecontrols etc can be duplicated down at the bottom on top of page-bar.
(what the heck for?)
There was talk of making the pagecontrols tpl position optional: top or bottom.
that option should quietly die.
Well, I wouldn't mind testing a bottom position layout, just to see a _really_ clean page top.
this is what it looks like now
http://hipro.ca/UI/tiki-index.php
Page description, structure nav, etc. are outside of the pagecontrols, so could remain for page top nav.
Well, I'd use different pagecontrols CSS if it was at the bottom.
one could make the pagecontrols a pseudomodule too. shove it over to the side.
thenews.css does this at ui.tw.o, for the dropdowns.
The tabs could be stacked vertically, too.
And all put in a box.
mozilla support site-style.
This time without the custom coding.
when i try to change themes in the ui branch it doesn't kick in . . . .
until i log out?
i'm tempted to say until i try to change theme without using the new admin panel.
Yeah, it's kinda flakey right now.
yep, thats the difference.
did you say that you put the actions into a module in thenews?
No, not in a module. I just displayed the actions in a vertical menu/box.
i see that you put actions inline with all the other "tabs" - good to know that can be done.
i like what was done with the image galleries which now has an actions dropdown of its own.
it would be a good ui thing to generalize.
ok time for a nap i guess.
thanks gary.
ok, good to talk with you. See you later.
in 2.x calendars, how can i edit/update/remove calendar category?
i see no way to get a list of calendar event categories that I can manipulate?
is this only possible directly from the db?
Hi guys. I have just moved tikiwiki to another server and now I get the white screen of death - any suggestions?
php mem limit
I don't think so
be sure to clear all the cache in tiki-admin_system.php

Are there limits to what kind of html you can include in a wiki page? I've tried including html directly, and through the dynamic content system, but tiki changes the code to make it not function. Am I doing something wrong? Is this a security feature? What is the preferred method to include iframes, and tracking scripts? Thanks in advance.
you need to enable html first
and check the box in the page
I've done that
it works for simple formatting, but if I include a script or iframe the code is changed once I preview
if you are not a trusted user, some htmls like
