When you're logged in to the site, you can set your language preference at tiki-user_preferences.php.
When not logged in, you'd have to configure your browser language setting. I don't know if that can be done per-site. do you know why it's in experimental in 2.3? chibaguy: Because it was added to tikiwiki recently and has some problems still.
I don't use it myself, so am not sure. Maybe if you _only_ use wysiwyg editor, it might be ok. But trying to use both it and wiki syntax editing at the same time (at different edits) apparently causes problems.
Anyway, you should do some testing before relying on it, for sure. DawnLight: i thought that this would be long taken care of by now] chibaguy: I think it's improved in Tiki 3 (coming soon), but probably still has the experimental label. Apparently a wysiwyg editor and wiki syntax cohabitating in the same space isn't easy to manage. -: chibaguy wonders why the "::" syntax is displayed rather than wiki parsed at doc.tw.o.... ***: vkumar has joined #tikiwiki DawnLight: is it possible to have multiple languages of the same page?

HTTPS login is clear

but the third option, "Users can switch..."
if i've set SSL login as required and set the second option to "no, they can't stay in SSL", so how can the third option be valid?
am i missing something? sylvieg: these options are probably tested in a certain order.. DawnLight: a link in page=i18n in 2.3 leads to http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Internationalization which is which sais "Plugin execution pending approval"
that's the second time that i've encountered this
i'm not yet going to file bugs on all these issues. It's surprising that there are so many bugs in the documentation.
this makes it look like the doc.tw.o is itself in development chibaguy: DawnLight, the doc site was just upgraded and needs to be checked. The plugin approval is a new feature and the approvals need to be done page by page. sylvieg: yehhe security on doc.tw.org is a little too tuff chibaguy: Doc.tw.o is running beta software. Isn't that how it's supposed to be? jonnyb: i thought tikineat was due for "mods"? chibaguy: yeah, tikineat flatlined already.
That is, it is removed from branch 3, so probably isn't a good base for a custom theme. spoonypjk: the computer next to me is 1024x768 i think. the remember me thing wraps.. but the "a" is half cut off in the "for half a year" chibaguy: ah
that's also my laptop resolution. I don't even see that text ;-) spoonypjk: oh really? oh man this is getting really hard setting up a site from 3.0 :( I know thats the risk you run with beta.. but it was half recommended that 3.0b1 was kindof semi-ready to sortof run with.
tikineat sofar is the one thats had the least problems for me.
nice balance between the columns too so the middle column has lots of space. chibaguy: well, "for half a year" isn't in my page source, either, so I guess it's not a theme problem.
Did you try tikinewt?
(not a theme problem at my test site, I mean) spoonypjk: chibaguy: your test site is the one that I just looked at...
chibaguy: try logging out (are you logged into it?) chibaguy: oh, that's interesting.
I'm logged in with some browsers but not all.
Remember me should only appear prior to logging in. spoonypjk: okay sorry.. what looked like a cut off "a" is actually "for 1 year" ..
the "1" looked like a cut off "a" from the angle i was looking at :)
sorry :)
i only noticed because i checked it out with firefox on my linux box. chibaguy: Oh, you mean in the module; I was looking at the site-header login. Sorry. spoonypjk: ahhh
put it down to an id.10t error on my part.
<<-- id10t..
you know i didnt even notice the login at the top of the screen. chibaguy: Well, we dropped Tikineat and a bunch of other older themes because they use a table for layout, which is the olde way of doing things. spoonypjk: Yeah looking at tikinewt at the moment.
Overall pretty good. I think i opted for tikineat because of the "mono" option.. chibaguy: If we keep Tikinewt, it's easy to transfer the options over to it.
(Tikinewt may be dropped due to aesthetic reasons. It's css file also generates lots of validation errors.) spoonypjk: Which are the 100% definite cleanest ones that will definitely be kept? chibaguy: TheNews, Feb12, Darkroom, Strasa, Coelesce
They use the same tpl files and have pretty similar css basically. spoonypjk: cheers.. chibaguy: Simple is also in the package but is more idiosyncratic and needs some updating. spoonypjk: I'll try to see what I can do with one of those. chibaguy: With the theme option feature, it's easy to use an existing theme as a base, and just add a small css file to override and add properties. spoonypjk: can that css file be edited through the web? or only at the filesystem level? chibaguy: Filesystem only, as far as I know. spoonypjk: thats okay. just checking. chibaguy: I haven't tried the css web editing for a while. sylvieg: cool I got one guy interesting in my google code proposal - code optimization :-) DawnLight: i like the tracker integration into the wiki thing. far better than how drupal does it
imo, that is
but it does take a while to get a site set up
from scratch... perhaps profiles is the answer
but there are only a few profiles for 2.3, right? chibaguy: DawnLight, profiles are brand new (in current incarnation) and are kind of a beta solution, at best.
Potentially, they'll be great for site setup. DawnLight: thanks. catch you late

heh, ok, I'm safe then. Beestje: so it's best to look at one of the following themes to learn form them ? TheNews, Feb12, Darkroom, Strasa, Coelesce chibaguy: So this would mean using the *litecss layout mehtod.
or method even
Personally I think Feb12 is the easiest to learn from, because it has less theme-specific tweaking than the others.
Actually, there's an idea for future theme css, where we'll have one css file for layout, and then a second one for aesthetics.
The layout one would probably not have to be touched much.
The aesthetics one would be renamed and saved as the custom theme file. It'd import the layout theme, same as how lite/lite.css is imported now.
Nyloth and I talked about this at the last TikiFest, and others have talked about the concept.
Yesterday I split up the css, so have the files made. They need some checking, but should be ready to for helping theme upgrades pretty quick.
I'll put up some docs and the tentative files.
soon.
The process would start with what kind of a layout/design is wanted. If it's a Kubrick-style center content with side margins, there'd be an updated table-based tiki.tpl for that.
Otherwise, the default tiki.tpl would be used. I want to do a kind of graphic map for this. chibaguy: grab another box ;) Caarrie: wooden or cardboard? :P chibaguy: Well, as soon as there's something that can be used instead of z-index, I'm ready to switch. luciash: ah, it's jQuery UI logo, sorry :-p chibaguy: In this case, the z-indexes are always the same. But something may be causing IE7 to not recognize a z-index. But it isn't obvious (to me anyway) what that is. luciash: chibaguy: i mean, tryto solve another puzzle if this one is too hard for you ;) chibaguy: What? Let IE7 win? ;-) luciash: *g*
i found out (IE6 at least) doesn't apply some css because of mixing selectors with contextual selectors (or how is the [] called)
so if you have e.g.: p.justify, .justify, div[class=box-data].justify {text-align: justify} it will not be applied on <p class="justify"> even when IE6 understands it
only when you exclude the div[class=box-data].justify from the group
i haven't tested lately though if it is still valid for strict standards mode though
and *i hope* it shouldn't be an issue in IE7
jonnyb: we definitely need this for textareas: http://jqueryui.com/demos/resizable/ chibaguy: no, being an issue consistently in two browser versions would be too easy for us. Instead, we have new, different issues in IE7, to keep life interesting. :-) DawnLight: why is the avatar only gif format? don't you know gif is non-free?
what's wrong with png? spoonypjk: Having so many little problems with most themes and ie7 at the moment. cant settle on one to modify. chibaguy: spoonypjk, are these themes from branch 3? spoonypjk: 3.0b1
should i pull down the themes from svn? chibaguy: A lot has been done for the themes since 3.0b1 was released.
Yes, I'd get the latest files.
Also look at themes in mods... spoonypjk: would you suggest just getting the theme files? im reluctant to upgrade the whole setup until b2.. for fear of breaking more things. jonnyb: sorry luciash, back now - how do you mean which file? there's a wikiplugin and a smarty one too - so if it's a wiki page just put it in the page somewhere.
if you need to edit a template use the smarty plug (they do the same thing) chibaguy: Themes in http://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tikiwiki/mods/trunk/themes/ with names ending in _tiki_3 might be interesting to you. luciash: jonnyb: i'll try the smarty plug then, tnks spoonypjk: thanks, checking it out. ***: Comnenus has joined #tikiwiki chibaguy: Um, you can try changing just the css file. There might be some selector misses because of tpl changes, though. luciash: DawnLight: in fact you can use any format for avatar chibaguy: But if anything is too broken, it's simple enough just to stop using the new css file. Comnenus: Is it possible to merge two tikiwiki's?
or migrate the content somehow DawnLight: thanks luciash: jonnyb: is the syntax {jq ...}{/jq} ? jonnyb: luciash: the url you sent looks like a regular wiki page, no? - do you want it on all pages? Or maybe it's more customized than it looks?
ya, documentation's in the source only so far
it automatically does the doc.ready thing, so you just need the middle bit luciash: jonnyb: nope, i want it there for sure and also for the l&f and other admin pages
jonnyb: thanks, i'll try jonnyb: it'll need jqueryui, which is quite big (i was thinking it should be off by default) luciash: jonnyb: ?
jonnyb: so it will not work in default tiki install ? jonnyb: at the moment feature_jquery is off (due to it being experimental) but when on at the moment everything (except spreadsheet i think) will be on
but if you check a loading profiler jqueryui slows the whole page down by quite a lot luciash: i just want to know if it will work when jquery is on, or if it needs to get some mod still to have the accordion UI effect working jonnyb: and (up to now) isn't used anywhere luciash: i thought sortable is jquery ui too and it works in default tiki install, right ? ***: chibaguy is now known as dogwalker jonnyb: no "mod" - just feature_jquery_ui
tablesorter is also separate - feature_jquery_tablesorter luciash: ah, http://jqueryui.com/demos/sortable/ is different thingie jonnyb: see admin/look/ui_effects (top bit) luciash: sorry for my confusion jonnyb: expecting to use one of those on module admin - one day! luciash: so what all do i have to download and put into tiki lib/ ? jqueryui package + accordion ?
don't tell me all i have to do is just enable jquery_ui checkbox in tiki and it will work or i will feel dumber than i look :-p ***: nevali has joined #tikiwiki

Hansi: SEWilco2: Yeah, I was afraid of that ... a bit of xtra work instead of just copying the files ;-) macleus: I installed the phpchat plugin, but dont know how to activate it ***: marclaporte has quit IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))

you have to use {DIV(float=left)}...{DIV} wrapper then ***: macleus has joined #tikiwiki macleus: has anyone got chat to work on their page

DigTek has joined #tikiwiki DigTek: hello. anyone know how to turn 'tabs' back on in 'look and feel' - I turned it off and now the page just shows links, no data, so I cannot even turn it back on... sylvieg: click on one of the link - it should expand DigTek: also, since the upgrade to 2.3 openID is not working... ***: SEWilco2 has quit IRC (Remote closed the connection) DigTek: it does not expand, tried a million times, though the code is there if you view it - I wass hoping to be able to edit the database entry but cannot figure out which one it is. sylvieg: can you patch the database tiki_preferences
name=feature_tabs value=y
and log out and log again DigTek: I was looking at that one, but not sure which one has to do with tabs in look and feel
ok, logging out did not help, nor did clearing the cache
I see, the database is more than one page long... sylvieg: tw is a big mama Tikiwiki|bot: Welcome to the official Tikiwiki English Irc Channel. TikiWiki or better known as TW, is your Groupware/CMS (Content Management System) solution, you can get more infomation at http://info.tikiwiki.org/ . luciash: DigTek: the problem appears only in IE, do you have option to open it in Firefox ? sylvieg: orto desactivate javascript DigTek: I di dtry firefox, but had the same result... luciash: weird, ok, it's possible in 2.3 it's not working but in 3.0 it works in FF for sure
witch JS off or go to FF menu View > Page Style > no style DigTek: hmm, will try FF again, though I changed it to y and IE is still just giving me the link - is 3 stable enough to use? luciash: it works pretty well, just don't enable PHP error reporting ;) DigTek: OK, got that fixed in both, must have taken a sec for my server to update the file?
thanks a lot...
one more - OpenID is no longer working since I upgraded to 2.3 - anyone else have that problem? luciash: haven't had chance to use OpenID yet with my Tikis DigTek: I get this error
Could not create the FileStore directory '/tmp/_php_consumer_test'. Please check the effective permissions.
but the folder exists with full permissions...
it also worked fine before the upgrade. ***: GillesMM has quit IRC (Read error: 60 (Operation timed out))

it is a Linux server if that matters luciash: go to tiki dir an run: sh ./setup.sh
