voraistos: I just installed the beta2
<br> multilingual features still do not work properly
Darkbee: I'm using v2.3 and I have a user who got locked out of their account (multiple unsuccessful login attempts). They get the re-validation email but when they go to the URL they get a "feature not enabled" message.
   <br> tiki-confirm_user_email.php says if (!isset($prefs['email_due']) || $prefs['email_due'] &lt; 0)  but I don't know what "feature" email due is.
voraistos: <u>example</u>: I install tiki, restrict available languages to english, french and spanish. set tiki up with detect browser lang, user pref lang and user can change lang
<br> i set my browser for preferred language - french, and tiki won't let me
<br> see the damn thing in french
***: Lucymoz has quit IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
voraistos: I had made some modifs in tikiB1, but too deep to work with all of tiki (just wiki and forum), and I managed to make the language (auto and manual) selection actually work.
<br> I'll take a look and see if there's anything that's obviously broken
<br> "Changing page language will also change the site language" is broken too
***: rpg has quit IRC ()
voraistos: HAHA I found the problem ;)
<br> <u>sylvieg</u>: quick bug report, setting "use database for translation" seems to break the whole multilingual thing. Note: after (de)activating it in tiki-admin.php?page=i18n , I get messages such as "preference language set"
<br> it even tells me "preference language set" when I activate db translation (and at the same time obviously breaks the stuff that make $prefs['language'] work.
<br> there seems to be some cock-ups with caching as well
<br> some things appear in french, others in english, and other thing in both french and english
<br> "preference Fonctionnalit dsactive : lang use db
   <br> (preference name: lang_use_db) "
<br> menu is in french, module such as login and "since your last visit" are in english
   ***: nkoth3_ has joined #tikiwiki
Darkbee: I don't wish to talk over you voraistos but "email_due" seems to be the "Re-validate user by email after days" admin login option but this seems to be mutually exclusive of "Re-validate user by email after unsuccessful logins"
voraistos: can I ask what the URL your users are told to visit is?
<br> "when they go to the URL they get a "feature not enabled" message"

   Darkbee: yes
   voraistos: that's odd

   voraistos: ok

chibaguy: If your idea involves changing the files that display the page, like if you need to modify the template that lists forums, for example, then it'd be hard to do it as a mod, I think.
<br> Because it won't become part of the Tiki download, and users won't want to install a mod that replaces a core file, only to have the file overwritten again at the next update.
<br> If your idea sounds useful enough to be incorporated into the core code (and made optional, if that's logical), then it should be done there.
<br> I guess the answer is how useful would this modification be to what percentage of users?
<br> If only .05% of all Tiki site admins want to display forum threads from another Tiki site, I don't know if this would look like a very useful modification of the code.
<br> If there's a way to do that using maybe a user module that can be made by the site admin, without changing the templates, that'd be a better approach in such a case.

caralluna: lol no not that bad, butr I have a BIG tendancy to go back and forth on decisions ;-)
spoonypjk: one option is to run with tw and try to fix it myself.. but in bw that work is already done and it really works nicely as far as gmaps goes.. But the trackers in tw seem infinitely useful to me too, which bw lacks completely :)
<br> I've had a lot of great help in the tw channel sofar too.. which is encouraging. bw channel was helpful too but people are around a lot less often there.
caralluna: I want the really best of stuff, so it seems I might end up using TW for the main framework and a few other things for gallery and wiki
spoonypjk: wiki is one of the main parts of what I'm knocking up.. and apart from WYSIWYG (which is kindof horrible).. the wiki functionality works quite well on both systems for me.
caralluna: The community is one of the big good things about tw, and a large factor for keeping me here ... and trackers of course ;-)
spoonypjk: I'm really suprised gmaps is so broken.. it would tie in brilliantly with trackers (and half does).. but no one in the tw community must use gmaps at all :(
caralluna: The image gallery is nowhere near where I want it, though is the file/image gallery under a major overhaul from what I understand
spoonypjk: yeah from what I'm told the image gallery is getting the boot and being replaced with the file gallery and beefed up.
caralluna: I am not even sure what gmaps is ... :-P
   spoonypjk: gmaps = google maps
<br> you're supposed to be able to have a map of all users if they set their gps location. Plus create a tracker list and attach gps locations to any tracker item and then plot a google map from that..
caralluna: if the new image/file gallery gets the ability to read EXIF/IPTC info that is probably what might make me change my mind
spoonypjk: and all of that only half works.. none of the plotting actually works/saves etc. and some of the buttons do the wrong thing. So its not really useful for anything other than displaying a map with nothing on it. which is a real shame.
   caralluna: ah, sounds nice ;-)
spoonypjk: I've tried having a poke around the code but havent been able to grasp how it all ties together and passes things around yet.
<br> yeah it would be great for a bunch of things I'm working on. Definitely the users map.. as we're planning starting up a physical space and would be handle to see everyones home location. And then plotting a list of possible places to rent etc would also be handy.
<br> Then when we're doing projects, or playing around with wireless links.. plotting those too would be useful.
<br> yeah the image gallery definitely needs exif etc importing.
   <br> handle=handy
