vkumarin the articles.. is there a way to copy paste stuff from the net.. without losing the original formatting ?
I can do that in a wiki page
but is it possible in articles
[02:14]
nkoth3it should be the same in a wiki page, and in articles. What do you mean by formatting? [02:15]
vkumarwhen i try to copy paste an article from the web.. it loses all the formatting like ( html tags, bold etc )
i think the wyswig editor does not work in articles
[02:16]
nkoth3i see, you are using the wysiwyg
right - it is not the same as in articles.
[02:18]
vkumaryes [02:19]
nkoth3why copy paste an article from the web, instead of linking to it? Unless you intend to modify it anyway?
But articles allow html
[02:20]
vkumaryes, that makes sence :) [02:21]
nkoth3so if you really want, you can paste part of the article (which may be what you want) in html source. [02:22]
vkumarcan you explain a bit [02:22]
nkoth3I think there is a Allow HTML checkbox in the article edit page [02:22]
vkumarya, i think i tried that, but did not get the intended result [02:23]
nkoth3and if you View Source the website, you can see the HTML source of which part of which you can copy.
This is fine for you, or the administrator I suppose
It's not something everyone will do

vkumarhi gary, i was asking this to nelson earlier... why is it that articles does not hold the HTML tags and other formatting when we copy paste some thing from other sites like yahoo [06:54]
pandjarovI think it is mail() [06:55]

pandjarovI suppose it is a stupid char that is not escaped in the confirmation mail that is causing it to crash
I hate such issues, so damn hard to investigate

vkumarok :(.. but i think for knowledge base development we need to save a lot of articles.. it would have been handy if copy paste worked with formatting. ya .. we can always do it in a wiki page.. but that does not get listed under articles .. right [07:02]
chibaguybut if they are outside articles, why not save them as wiki pages?
I think tiki's articles feature is more for original news, etc.
thus the publishing date, author, etc.
if you need a searchable archive of outside articles, seems to me the wiki would also work ok.

Yoni_installed the 3.0 nice works !!! [08:00]
chibaguyhi Yoni_ [08:01]
Yoni_He Chibaguy [08:01]
chibaguyluciash, probably both. anyway I was thinking about a bug report (problem seen on doc.tw.o) that ie7 can't display iframe plugin content.
I googled and found a bug that ie7 doesn't recognize width= _% for iframes.
so I tried to reproduce and, sure enough, the space is made but no src content shows, in ie7 in tiki 3.
...
ah, also I posted about the codelisting. I forgot. so another issue.
about the iframe thing, it's strange but in tiki 2, iframe width=100% _does_ work in ie7... but I didn't check for the differences yet.
one thing is, at my tiki 2 site, the iframe plugin is different: it puts the src url as data, not an argument; don't know what else is different.
i didn't try a plain html page with iframe to test ie7 with yet, either.
[08:02]

chibaguyah, if you have a long line of code, in ie7 the box just goes that full width, there's no scrollbar.
...at the code bottom

luciashchibaguy: i see, i don't consider it much problem when you have wrap=1 param available [08:16]
chibaguyok, that's true [08:16]
luciashYoni_: what is not nice on TheNews in IE8 ?
chibaguy: so when you set 100% what it does in IE7 with CODE plugin ?
and about the iframe plugin, what happens when you set height explicitly ?
[08:16]
chibaguyno page widening or page scrollbar. only goes 100% of center column, as it should.
and codelisting gets the scrollbar
oh, sorry, that was FF behavior.
[08:18]
luciashah, chibaguy , so it behaves the same just misses the scrollbar then ? [08:18]
Yoni_well i tried all the included theme for the 3.0 non realy fit on ie8. textes to close from images, not enough space between lines [08:19]
luciashchibaguy: ? [08:19]
chibaguywith IE7, the codelisting goes as wide as the longest line of code, no scrollbar on codelisting. [08:19]

[12:04]
Yoni_the css of my major website didn't passed :) [12:05]
ricks99y, 90% of my issues were style customizations [12:05]
chibaguyhi ricks99, what do you think about revamping the old "logo" module (currently just has a hard path to Kon-Tiki image) by giving it the code from siteheader to display logo and text title?
(this would be in trunk)
like for a theme where the logo is left-column top like Tikipedia/Wikipedia (or similar layout).
[12:06]
ricks99unless the logo file is < 180px, it will look very bad :( [12:09]
chibaguyThat's right. It'd be for such logos. [12:10]
ricks99i think the logo module can/should b deprecated
in fact, with the introdution of the the HTML plugin, i think a *lot* of plugins could/should b deprecreated
[12:10]
chibaguywell, that's why I propose to make it more useful. You can get exactly the wikipedia/mediawiki layout that way.
the idea came to me as I was making a custom module to hold the logo, then thought, hey, we have a (mostly ignored) logo module already. why not make it useful?
(for the Tikipedia/tiki3 theme)
[12:10]
***ChadDa3mon has joined #tikiwiki [12:12]
ricks99lookng @ the the mod-logo.tpl... appears all it is a an <img> right?
exactly what is its usefulness?
** rick thinks creating a custom module from scratch would b easier than editing the exiting mod-logo.tpl
especially for newbies
[12:13]
chibaguythat's why I'm talking about adapting the tiki-site_header.tpl logo and site title code to mod-logo.tpl
then whatever goes into L&F prefs is reflected in the logo module
[12:15]
ricks99ah... no i see
(said the blind man)
y, imho the mod-logo.tpl should simply resue the site logo (as defined in admin: l&f
agree 100%
(sorry, only had 2 cups of coffee so far)
[12:16]
chibaguythat's right. so if you have a theme like tikipedia, then just choose an image that'll fit, etc, and activate the module.
well, late in my day here and plenty of coffee past the brain already. :-)
[12:17]
ricks99ooooo.. u can automatically have modules enable/disabled, based on theme selection? >way< cool! [12:18]
chibaguyyep, just found out yesterday. theme=tikipedia.css will work
+ turn off module title and decorations and voila, it appears against your page background
[12:19]
ricks99u mean adding the param to the module? i meant. simply b selecting anew theme in l&f page.
would b neat if each theme had its own *.ini or *.cfg file that defined specific things
[12:19]
chibaguywell, if the theme is seleted, then the module knows to appear
or tiki knows to display the module
[12:20]
ricks99right, but that relies on the user already having configured the module to display and adding the correct param, right? [12:21]
chibaguyyep [12:21]
ricks99i was thinking of something more automatic
maybe for 4.x :)
[12:21]
chibaguyyeah, that'd be nice [12:21]

thunder_dexluciash, for the logo of the http://dev.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php, if I remove the padding-top: 8px, on div#sitelogo in strasa.css, will it have any other side effects? because from my screen it looks like, removing that padding, will fix the logo being too low on the border. [13:53]

chibaguythunder_dex, that's probably the solution. The problem with specifying logo padding in the stylesheet is we have no idea what size the logo is going to be at people's sites...
The one at dev.tw.o is probably a lot larger than most people's, so removing the padding in strasa.css will probably not be good for sites in general.

jonnybliquidape: how about using the GROUP plugin? [18:52]
liquidapelooking into the group plugin
the issue is basically we have 2 groups working on the same project. One group that is working on the project for real, and one group that is working on the project in a "fake manner". My company is basically testing the second group and not relying on them, but they can't know that they are only "fake" working on the project.

liquidapeseems like a lot to pay a company to work on a project when you have no intention of using their work...but alas, that is the situation [18:56]

the question is more for sites with no javascript
[21:15]
sylviegwith no js, it appears (was - I did not svn up) below [21:19]
marclaporteso if no javascript, the help should be below instead of float, and should contain all the details (because you can't use plugin edit to help)
yes, perfect

amettesomeone really didn't incarnate him to the community while giving commit access....
... otherwise he would be hanging out here while committing!!
[22:22]
sylviega lot of people can not use irc... I do not know why [22:26]
marclaporteamette is on IRC even when he sleeps [22:27]
ametteamette thinks that people using SVN should be capable of using (or at least of learning to use) IRC.... there needs to be one common denominator in communication for people in one section of endeavour of a project - e.g. IRC<->SNV/Coding
amette just is
[22:28]
marclaporteamette is the man [22:28]
sylviegI think it is a company policy... I do not know to much [22:28]
marclaportemarclaporte thinks asking people to make a UserPage is reasonable [22:29]
ametteamette agrees as this is a very reasonable part of relating oneself and a good first step of committing oneself to a wiki-based project [22:30]
sylviegI am not so upset about this ... after 10 commits we know the person .. it is olny the first ones.. [22:30]
***fantoms has quit IRC (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer)) [22:31]
ametteamette likes sylvieg's opinion on this very much :) - even though it still doesn't grasp committing to TikiWiki in it's entirety
Respect the environment means something like "TikiWiki is not only code, it is a community"
people committing on SVN might preserve the code, but they respect the environment when they are here on IRC to receive praise for their commits
whoever is reading: sounds weird to you? - read the elaborate version of the three rules again, please!
[22:32]
marclaportemarclaporte wants to praise amette for his commits, not just his great work as a sysadmin [22:34]
