vkumar: in the articles.. is there a way to copy paste stuff from the net.. without losing the original formatting ?
I can do that in a wiki page
but is it possible in articles
nkoth3: it should be the same in a wiki page, and in articles. What do you mean by formatting?
vkumar: when i try to copy paste an article from the web.. it loses all the formatting like ( html tags, bold etc )
i think the wyswig editor does not work in articles
nkoth3: i see, you are using the wysiwyg
right - it is not the same as in articles.
vkumar: yes
nkoth3: why copy paste an article from the web, instead of linking to it? Unless you intend to modify it anyway?
But articles allow html
vkumar: yes, that makes sence :)
nkoth3: so if you really want, you can paste part of the article (which may be what you want) in html source.
vkumar: can you explain a bit
nkoth3: I think there is a Allow HTML checkbox in the article edit page
vkumar: ya, i think i tried that, but did not get the intended result
nkoth3: and if you View Source the website, you can see the HTML source of which part of which you can copy.
This is fine for you, or the administrator I suppose
It's not something everyone will do
vkumar: ok, i will try that out
so you use tikiwiki as a backend .. mostly ?

I think tiki's articles feature is more for original news, etc.
thus the publishing date, author, etc.

Yoni_: morning, etc... al :D
luciash: hi yoni
Yoni_: installed the 3.0 nice works !!!
chibaguy: hi Yoni_
Yoni_: He Chibaguy
chibaguy: luciash, probably both. anyway I was thinking about a bug report (problem seen on doc.tw.o) that ie7 can't display iframe plugin content.
I googled and found a bug that ie7 doesn't recognize width= _% for iframes.
so I tried to reproduce and, sure enough, the space is made but no src content shows, in ie7 in tiki 3.
...
ah, also I posted about the codelisting. I forgot. so another issue.
about the iframe thing, it's strange but in tiki 2, iframe width=100% _does_ work in ie7... but I didn't check for the differences yet.
one thing is, at my tiki 2 site, the iframe plugin is different: it puts the src url as data, not an argument; don't know what else is different.
i didn't try a plain html page with iframe to test ie7 with yet, either.
luciash: i suspect standard/quirks mode again
but what was the problem with div of CODE plugin ?
Yoni_: sorry, not in a mood to talk in private
Yoni_: no problem i just felt not confortable disturbing the serious discussion :)
chibaguy: ah, if you have a long line of code, in ie7 the box just goes that full width, there's no scrollbar.
...at the code bottom
luciash: chibaguy: i see, i don't consider it much problem when you have wrap=1 param available
chibaguy: ok, that's true
luciash: Yoni_: what is not nice on TheNews in IE8 ?
chibaguy: so when you set 100% what it does in IE7 with CODE plugin ?
and about the iframe plugin, what happens when you set height explicitly ?
chibaguy: no page widening or page scrollbar. only goes 100% of center column, as it should.
and codelisting gets the scrollbar
oh, sorry, that was FF behavior.
luciash: ah, chibaguy , so it behaves the same just misses the scrollbar then ?
Yoni_: well i tried all the included theme for the 3.0 non realy fit on ie8. textes to close from images, not enough space between lines
luciash: chibaguy: ?
chibaguy: with IE7, the codelisting goes as wide as the longest line of code, no scrollbar on codelisting.
Yoni_: i check on ff it is better
so if i know what is the most acheived theme i can try to make one acceptable for ie8 cause right i (it is me ok :) ) wouldn't dare to switch on prod like this

(this would be in trunk)
like for a theme where the logo is left-column top like Tikipedia/Wikipedia (or similar layout).
ricks99: unless the logo file is < 180px, it will look very bad :(
chibaguy: That's right. It'd be for such logos.
ricks99: i think the logo module can/should b deprecated
in fact, with the introdution of the the HTML plugin, i think a *lot* of plugins could/should b deprecreated

the idea came to me as I was making a custom module to hold the logo, then thought, hey, we have a (mostly ignored) logo module already. why not make it useful?

***: ChadDa3mon has joined #tikiwiki
ricks99: lookng @ the the mod-logo.tpl... appears all it is a an <img> right?

** rick thinks creating a custom module from scratch would b easier than editing the exiting mod-logo.tpl
especially for newbies
chibaguy: that's why I'm talking about adapting the tiki-site_header.tpl logo and site title code to mod-logo.tpl
then whatever goes into L&F prefs is reflected in the logo module
ricks99: ah... no i see
(said the blind man)
y, imho the mod-logo.tpl should simply resue the site logo (as defined in admin: l&f
agree 100%
(sorry, only had 2 cups of coffee so far)

ricks99: u mean adding the param to the module? i meant. simply b selecting anew theme in l&f page.
would b neat if each theme had its own *.ini or *.cfg file that defined specific things
chibaguy: well, if the theme is seleted, then the module knows to appear
or tiki knows to display the module
ricks99: right, but that relies on the user already having configured the module to display and adding the correct param, right?

chibaguy: thunder_dex, that's probably the solution. The problem with specifying logo padding in the stylesheet is we have no idea what size the logo is going to be at people's sites...
The one at dev.tw.o is probably a lot larger than most people's, so removing the padding in strasa.css will probably not be good for sites in general.
thunder_dex: oh
but would work for this case in dev.tiki
chibaguy: right.
I was thinking maybe the site should have its own css file for the theme....
thunder_dex: :)
