or do demo.tw.o allow installing mods?
-: xavi taking a screenshot and uploading somewhere....
luciash: :)
-: luciash looking in dictionary what lateral means :-p
luciash: ah, side columns ?
side columns layout problems are usually caused by improperly closed tags
chibaguy: features-aulawiki-1.7.0.tgz is what should be installed? That's the latest?
xavi: chibaguy: yes
luciash: yes, my bad. "side" columns
chibaguy: Is any particular page a problem? I notice 24 tpl files.
xavi: luciash: or maybe side columns are called with a different name
chibaguy: tiki-workspaces_admin.tpl
chibaguy: I think side columns is most common to use.
xavi: chibaguy: as well as the main application menu, which is not shown at all if you change the theme style to workspaces.css
chibaguy: I should install this somewhere...
xavi: and workspaces.css (from that 1.7.0 mod) is just importing thenews.css and adding some missing items to the css for workspaces to display the "desktop" properly, etc.
there are many tpl's that sould be taken away, I guess
however, as it is right now, it installs, and seems to work on tiki 3 (it's working pretty well again on tiki 2.x that mod version also)
luciash and chibaguy: screenshots here:
http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-download_file.php?fileId=80&preview
and http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-download_file.php?fileId=81&preview
81 refers to the main application menu not being shown
luciash: xavi: tks, are they on the bottom ?
the columns i mean
xavi: nope
letme double check...
chibaguy: there appears to be an extra </div> tag at the end of tiki-workspaces_admin.tpl.
luciash: chibaguy: how typical ;)
-: chibaguy is lucky this time - only one <div> and two </div> tags in the file....
xavi: :-)
they were produced for moreneat.css (1.8.x ): maybe that's why?
CIA-65: tikiwiki: 03sept_7 * r19275 10/branches/experimental/coe/lib/ (3 files in 3 dirs):

chibaguy: yes, these tags are around the pagination code, which I recall having this problem quite a while back.
xavi: great, chibaguy, side columns are back at that feature (worksapces admin)
chibaguy: probably this part of the page needs to be updated, at least.
luciash: xavi: isn't the menu just collapsed up module ?
xavi: so , maybe there is a similar issue somewhere for the main application menu?
luciash: :-) nope, I tried that several times, clearing caches, etc.
luciash: hmm, what could it be then ? any custom tpl for that menu in workspaces theme ?
xavi: luciash and chibaguy: there is a hard-coded file for the main app. menu in ./styles/workspaces/modules/mod-application-menu.tpl , however, I couldn't make any difference by removing it and clearing tiki caches
that's why I'm kind of lost
well, I'll double check (again) removing the file and clearing tiki caches...
luciash: it's not permissions issue i think otherwise the whole module would't show up at all... it must be the tpl thing or check your custom modules code
xavi: there is a module.tpl... I also removed that, but It didn't help me either
and I lost some display properties...
(which I guess that they sould be defined some at the css, but anyway, not important at this stage)
chibaguy: the templates/styles/workspaces/tiki-user_menu.tpl file may be faulty
xavi: yes, I guessed so, as well as the others, but do you mean faulty for the issue with the main app. menu?
chibaguy: I installed the files, etc. (at zukakakina.com/tw3/). If that file is renamed to .txt, then my main menu works ok. left as is, my main menu doesn't work.
it tries to open but can't.
xavi: ah, great, chibaguy!
chibaguy: the main app menu uses that file, when in the workspaces theme, apparently.
xavi: I wonder how that can be possible, but anyway, great you got it! :-)
-: xavi trying to rename that file...
chibaguy: I don't know what's special about that menu tpl, but maybe it's not really needed.
well, I wanted to try working on the workspaces css, so this install is a good chance.
xavi: :-)
and pingus has been fixing many of the remaining bugs for workspaces to work on tiki 2.x sites, so it might also be nearly bug free for tiki 3 also :-)
even if there are some remaining thigs to clean from the display point of view (tpl, css, etc.)
and there are many WYSIWYCA issues spread over the workspaces modules, specially, afaik
but they seem to work , at least :-)
CIA-65: tikiwiki: 03changi67 * r19276 10/trunk/lib/live_support/lslib.php: [FIX] Removing ?> according to Zend recommendation
xavi: I wonder if that tiki-user_menu.tpl is needed for the workspace menus shown under the "workspaces_my" module
chibaguy: Maybe so, but if it has a special purpose there, maybe it should be renamed so there is no conflict with the main app menu tpl.
Anyway, this can be sorted out.
-: xavi checking
***: floh1111 has joined #tikiwiki
xavi: chibaguy: tiki-user_menu.tpl is not called by any workspace php file, so that it was just a replacement (for some reason) of the deafult tpl file in tiki. And I couldn't see any thing relevant inside. So that, I'll keep that file renamed with my trials on tiki 3from now onwards
chibaguy: ok
Seems like even if a special menu is needed, it could use the default module construction.
xavi: chibaguy, I see many icons from old 1.9x...
default module construction: I guess so
There is amodule.tpl, but I wonder whether it's really needed in tiki 3....
somehow, the degradation gif behind the header (removed when you remove the module.tpl) should be placed somehow in the css, I guess
and tabs ("zones", from the workspace desktop), are not shown properly on tiki 3...
I mean, they don't look like tabs...
hehe, and other tpl's are also having the extra div issue. Now I know, I'll remove them from the other tpl's
btw, will they work on tiki 2.x sites without the double extra </div> tag at the end?
of would this produce a display on tiki 2.x sites?
chibaguy: whether they display ok on tiki 2.x sites depends on the theme and tiki.tpl being used. the *lite.css-based themes are vulnerable to breaking. The old table-using tiki.tpl isn't.
Are these files the same as in branches/experimental/workspaces ?
I mean is that the origin of the tgz file downloaded from mods.tw.o?
xavi: chibaguy: nope, unluckily. The aulawiki mod is from mods svn
chibaguy: I'm confused about the relationship between branches/experimental/workspaces and mods/features/aulawiki.
xavi: chibaguy: :-) Well, the experimental branch workspaces was the test place for the new design for Tiki 4.0+ (including workspaces again as a main tiki feature)
the mods/features/aulawiki is the descendent of the aulawiki mod (with the adapted workspaces feature to work with tiki 2.x and tiki 3.x)
the idea is, afaik, to re-use as much as possible the features already designed in previous tiki 1.9x, tiki 2.x, etc. and make "refurbish" them for tiki 4.x, adapted to the new design of workspaces re-using as much as possible already existing core features in tiki (which were not available by the time the initial aulawiki mod was designed)
ben and aldo have been designing a new (and nice) interface for workspaces creation (according to http://dev.tikiwiki.org/Workspaces ), and in theory, they agreed to rescue as many features as possible from the ones in the aulawiki mod...
chibaguy: ok. so I wonder which files I should be working with, regarding css, etc.
xavi: so that's why, pingus have been bug fixing the aulawiki mod on svn, since he is uinsg it on tiki 2.x sites for a client, afaik, and I?m also using it on 2.0 sites (edu.tw.o, being one of them), and hopefully upgrading them to tiki 3.x
HTH
I would say, until there is a kind of manual "merge" of features, it depdens if you plan to improve workspaces only for Tiki 4.x ( :-/ ) or if you can help to make them also work on tiki 3.x (in the mean time, at least)
I would suggest to have the disaply issues fixed on the mods svn first, so that you (and others) can test the workspaces already working on tiki 2.x and tiki 3.x...
chibaguy: ok.
xavi: and when aldo and ben (or whoever) are at the stage of managing the display of workspaces in tiki 4.0, then you will already know what they are talking about, etc.
and maybe (hopefully) they'l refactor the css and tpl's from the mods svn files
that was the original idea, discussed and agreed, afaik, among pingus, rober, aldo, and ben, at TikiFestMadrid and following weeks
HTH (2)
chibaguy: ok, thanks.

sylvieg: try to edit the page and save it tio see if it changes something

sylvieg: hehe the sandbox has no preview botton...
chibaguy: but you should remove Tiki 2 versions of template files in feb12, thenews, tikinewt, and darkroom. (e.g., templates/styles/darkroom/*) and then install the Tiki 3.0 tpls for these themes.
c_schmitz: well according to update docs I copied things over
chibaguy: ...because many of the 2.0 versions aren't compatible.
right, but copying over leaves in place files that don't have 3.0 equivalents, so the theme tpl folders will still have old files that will be used in place of the defaults.
c_schmitz: yep
but I don't think that is source of the problem
I changed to strasa now

I tried several months ago, and it didn't work for me.
kyla: thank you
xavi: you could in tiki 3 to see if it works there.
kyla: how would you go about tagging files?
would you just upload files onto a wiki page then tag?
xavi: set the tag module on a side column.
then browse to a file, and add the tag labels on the side column module
kyla: sorry how do you specifically do that?
if you dont mind explaining
im kind of new to this
xavi: through wiki pages you would tag wiki paegs, not files
I would say (try): upload files to files galleries as usual
then browse to a file, edit properties, or similar
then on that window, add the tag labels
but as I said, that was not working on tiki 2.x. I wonder if for tiki 3.0, that tricks works....
kyla: in the file description?
xavi: if it doesn't work, then I woud say it's not possible
no, not in the file description, but in the side module for tagging
module_tag or something similar, I mean
kyla: is that in admin sidebar?
xavi: assign that module (tag) to your side column first
kyla: how do you do that
xavi: sorry, module "freetag"
kyla: o ok
xavi: search the docs for how to assign a module: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Modules
kyla, if it works, then, besides celebrating it, :-) please, update the documentation!
kyla: will do
xavi: thks
kyla: thank you for your help
xavi: welcome
-: xavi wonders if that trick will work
xavi: for sure, much easier would be if the tag field fillable at file upload time...
I wish nyloth was reading this...
kyla, could you please also create a new "wish" at the http://dev.tikiwiki.org/tracker5 ?
this way, some coders might think about implementing this much earlier... nyloth was requesting suggestions for improvements for the file galleries, and I wonder how far is this in their road map, in case it is in their roadmap already
***: floh1111 has quit IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
xavi: if you could add that "wish" there, they would know about that "wish" for sure and they might consider adding it to their roadmap
hth
luciash around?
I'm trying the aulawiki mod (1.7.0) nowadays on a tiki 2.4, but the side columns here get wider than in tiki 3.x...
I wonder what's different between thenews.css in tiki2.x and in tiki3.x (in both cases, I'm using the same workspaces.css, which is dynamically importing thenews.css from each tiki version)
***: snarlydwarf has joined #tikiwiki
kyla: hey xavi i have another question
so i implemented the folksonomy module
when i go to a page, and add tags, i try searching the same tags and nothing shows up on my search
a i doing something wrong
am i doing something wrong*?
Jyhem: is there any logic in having get_user_groups_inclusion() defined in userslib and get_user_groups() in tikilib ???
xavi: kyla, afaik, the geenric search modules don't search for tags (at least yet). There is a specific tag browser, where you can add tags to your search, faik
s/faik/afaik
again, kyla: this could be added to the documentation, if my guess is the right behavior that tiki is doing...
you would be welcome if you could do so (add that info to the documentation for others to know about it)
kyla: is the tag browser in modules?
xavi: kyle: nope. Please, read the docs first: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tags
then improve the docs, please :-)
fyi: Note about usage in features different than wiki pages:
For the moment, you can only use freetags in module - the module finds out for what object the freetag has been added looking at the url param.
so please, if this works for you on tiki 3, please report so in the documentation :-)
kyla: okay
i am actually still using 2.x
***: Caarrie is now known as Caarrie|away
kyla: is it possible to upload a file onto a wiki page directly?
like how you do for an image file?
***: c_schmitz has left
xavi: kyla: file attachments. read the documentation: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Documentation (search for file attachments to wiki pages)
-: xavi is still wondering why the side modules using workspaces.css theme style get way too wide in tiki.2x but they are fine in tiki3.x
xavi: luciash: where is the #c1c2 #col2 .content defined?
***: ricks99 has joined #tikiwiki
xavi: somehow, I don't get that property set when using thenews.css imported through workspaces.css, whereas if I use thenews.css theme style directly, this does get set properly on side columns
***: Caarrie|away is now known as Caarrie
jonnyb: hi xavi - initially in lite.css (i think)
xavi: hi jonnyb, I wonder then why I don't get lite.css... isn't an import of an import allows in css? import
jonnyb: sounds like css weirdness...
-: xavi still confused with such issue
jonnyb: could be
xavi: s/allows/allowed
jonnyb: try importing lite.cc directly?
xavi: yes, that's my next trial to get rid of weirdnesses....
jonnyb: actually if you didn't get lite.css it would all fall apart (i think)
have you got firebug?
xavi: yes, I 've got firebug (still learning how to use it)
and web developer toolbar
lite.css is in there
but for some reason, the side columns get wider in tiki2.x sites
workspaces.css imports thenews.css and adds some css properties/items, etc.
ricks99: q: is there way to print all all (or a selected collection) of records from a tracker at once? the "Perform action with checked" only has DELETE as an option
xavi: the same things are added, thus, to the 2.x install, and to the tiki 3.x install, and for some reason, under the 2.x install, the side columns get wider...
ricks99: good point. I had that question in my mind for ages... :-)
but unluckily, I have no answer
ricks99: i guess that means "no" :(
xavi: it means, I don't know
no more, no less
:-)
ricks99: ok, then is there a way to override the # of records shown per page from tiki-view_tracker.php? I can do a simple print-screen if so
xavi: no idea mysef, sorry
ricks99: gee... what good are you then, xavi ;-P
:-)
xavi: :-)
-: ricks99 won't even bother asking about generating PDFs from trackers....
xavi: jonnyb: well, let's see. when using thenews.css directly, web developer toolbar tells me that #c1c2 #col2 .content are set on the side columns
sylvieg: to have no page number user TRACKERLIST with max=-1 or something like that
ricks99: ahhh... nice. let me try that....
xavi: however, when I use the workspaces.css theme style, web developer doesn't show any properties for #c1c2 #col2 .content
ricks99: gets me pretty close to what i need. tx sylvieg!
jonnyb: xavi: can you see which css files are actually getting included? in firebug you can load them all quite easily and you get a 404 error if not found
xavi: so for some reason, this #c1c2 #col2 .content is not shown
CIA-65: tikiwiki: 03dexl_2000 * r19286 10/trunk/ (6 files in 4 dirs): [MOD] Allow filtering of articles by rating in list_articles API, and showing of rating column in tiki-list_articles.php

jonnyb: thenews.css and lite.css , when using thenews theme style
and workspaces.css, thenews.css and lite.css when using workspaces.css
in both cases, 1.9to2.4.css seem to have dissappeared (but using thenews theme style, side columns are shown fine)
jonny, I don't get any #tiki-center if using workspaces.css (and importing thenews.css). How come?
whereas is I use thenews.css, I get the #tiki-center part of the css on the central column, besides the #c1c2 #wrapper thingies
jonnyb: sorry - again, just css weirdness, i haven't seen workspaces.css (and buried in something else) - you getting anything in css errors?
***: rodrigo_sampaio1 has joined #tikiwiki
xavi: jonnyb: sorry, where can I see the errors in firebug?
jonnyb: i use a thing called console2 (another add-on)
you can filter by error type, warnings etc - it's nice
***: mizraith has quit IRC ("http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client")
xavi: jonnyb: I've enabled something called console
but I don't see any tab for css errors or similar
jonnyb: should be enough (the built in one is not very smart, but should show all errors)
or stick it through the w3.org css validator?
xavi: oh well, I'm getting lost, jonny. I can't see anywhere any information about errors
I only see the "reference" button at the firebug, but it shows several things as ok by w3c
anyway, sorry to make you waste your time with this

Sun123: I am new with tikiwiki. I am trying to upload pictures from my c drive but I do not see to option to browse. Can anyone help?
xavi: Sun123: which tiki version? 2.x or 3.x?
and which theme style are you using?
Sun123: 3.x I want to updoad a pic. for my home page
ricks99: @Sun123: trying to add an image to a wiki page? did you enable the PICTURES option?
Sun123: in the admin config?..yes
ricks99: when u EDIT the home page, do you see the UPLOAD PICTURE field?
***: rodrigo_sampaio has quit IRC (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
Sun123: yes, but it is forcing me to upload from the galleries not from my c drive
ricks99: o.. you're using file gallery to store wiki images? u need to upload it to the gallery first.
Sun123: It doesn't give me the "browse"
ricks99: you need to change the the option
Sun123: ?
ricks99: you can store wiki images either in a file gallery or in a directory
right now, you apparently have the FILE GALLERY selected
xavi: Sun123: could you see the button if you logged as admin?
ricks99: thats why there's no BROWSE button
xavi: the button to upload images to your wiki page
Sun123: hmm. that I needed to decide at the beginning of the installation right?
ricks99: no, you can change the option at any time
Sun123: I am loggin as admin
ricks99: if you store images in the directory (../img/wiki_up/ by default) you will get a BROWSE button instead
xavi: ok, Sun123, then the problem must be what ricks99 told you
you might need to enable file galleries I guess
ricks99: @xavi: yup. there is no BROWSE button if storing image sin file gallery
the BROWSE button is visible only when storing in directory
xavi: can you check that you have file galleries enabled?
-: ricks99 still thinks that storing wiki images in file gallery is not user-friendly
Sun123: how do I fix the problem again
xavi: ricks: that's not 100% true. if you have file gallery selected, (afaik), then you see the "add another image" button, which opens the file gallery browsers, with the option to upload images, etc.
ricks99: @xavi: the BROWSE button is different than ADD ANOTHER IMAGE
Sun123: Yes. I do and yes I have the button for "add another image"
xavi: Sun123: could you check if you have the file galleries enabeld under "Admin > Features"?
ricks99: @Sun123: disable the "store images in file gallery" option
xavi: Sun123: you could just click on the "add another image" and "upload image"
ricks99: @xavi: there is no UPLOAD option if Sun123 has selected to store images in the file gallery
SEWilco2: Is the Browse button which Sun123 is looking for only in the WYSIWYG editor, and is he using that editor?
Sun123: file galleries is enabeld
xavi: Sun123: could you please have a look at this?: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/File+Gallery+for+images
that's how to proceed in tiki 3, if storing images in file galleries
ricks99: @Sun123: u need to disable the "Store images in file gallery option" -- this is NOT the same as disabling the File gallery feature
xavi: anyway, I agree with ricks99 that it's less user friendly, in the sense that you need to do more clicks for the same task as before in tiki 2.x
ricks99: I'm afraid that he doesn't need to disable that
ricks99: @Sun123: look at the doc link xavi sent
simply turn off the "Use File Galleries to store pictures"
thats it
tiki *should* allow you to upload from your PC to a file gallery & insert into wiki page in a single step... maybe for 3.1
Sun123: and where do I do that
xavi: ricks99: as I explained in that doc., afaik, you need that option as enabled, not disabled
ricks99: admin: text area
@xavi: if you disable it, then you can simply upload directly to the img/wiki_up directory (as in pre 3.0)
@Sun123: pls see doc link
xavi: yes, I know, but it's not as good in the mid and long run as if you keep that seting enabled
it's much better (imho) to use file galleries, in order to be able to reuse the images later on, delete them (if needed, etc.)
without using file galleries, you can't...
ricks99: o.. i agree that file gallery is better for overall management, but it is -100 for usability
xavi: so Sun123: it's up to you. with that option enabled or not, you should be able to upload images from your disk.
ricks99: as i said, i should b able to upload to file gallery and use in a wiki page in a single step
CIA-65: tikiwiki: 03jonnybradley * r19287 10/trunk/ (3 files in 3 dirs): [ENH] Implementing single group (public) mailbox for GroupMail

@Sun123: working now? u need to be careful, however. u won't get any warnings if you overwrite an existing image. and, as xavi says, theres no way to 'manage' the images (delete, renamte, etc.)
Sun123: I am in admin home>edit plug ins but I can click or write anything

I can't believe that tiki is going to support wiki creole! Thanks, rodrigo_sampaio1!!! :-)
no, I don't know the syntax, (yet), but I know we all need some kind of common wiki dialogue (among al wiki engines)...
rodrigo_sampaio1: xavi: I'm not attempting to support wiki creole but the importer might go in a direction that it will make easier for a future wiki creole support
