ildefonso has joined #tikiwiki ildefonso: Hi!
People, I have a question (again): is an *easy* (ie, end-user) way of inserting a link to download a file on a wiki page? there is a nice bottom on the editor that lets you insert an image, easily, but for files..... it would be similar, but it isn't there :( Tikiwiki|bot: Welcome to the official Tikiwiki English Irc channel, Please just ask your question, dont ask to ask, someone will reply if and when they know the answer. Welcome again and please stay awhile
Welcome to the official Tikiwiki English Irc channel, Please just ask your question, dont ask to ask, someone will reply if and when they know the answer. Welcome again and please stay awhile ildefonso: I explain: say you have a file gallery, and upload several files, now want to include one of such files for download on a wiki page, currently, the only method I have found is: go to the gallery, copy the download link, and paste the download link in a "[link|text]" block, optionally removing the http..... part that goes before the tiki-download_file.php?fileId=nn part...
I find this easy (for me), but annoying.... now, for a normal user, it may be the end of the world.....
I see the wiki editor have a button to insert an image from a file gallery, it is easy enough, that same button even includes a listing of *all* files, no just images (which is funny), and then just generates the code for an img object on the wiki page..... I believe that there should be a feature like this one, for "downloading" of files from galleries.
Now.... *the question*: does this feature is implemented on tiki4?
in tiki3.3 , I don't see it.....
thanks! coaboa_: urgend: after svn update to branch 4. to rev. 23573 and running the required db upgrade i can't login to my site as admin nor as secondary admin accoutn. Message Account disabled or You need to validate your account. But bo

coaboa_ is now known as coaboa coaboa: both accounts (and several i know the pass from) with level reistered or Author have the same issue. chibaguy: coaboa: I don't know what causes that problem. I upgrade branch 4.x regularly on a couple of sites, and haven't had that problem (yet anyway). But I hope you aren't running svn updates on important (need to be stable) web sites.
ildefonso: those are good observations about wiki pages and files. coaboa: checked out svn branch 4.0 thought there are only tested updates? In opposit to trunk. that was a question of mine a while ago how to check out lates stable version with security updates. the answer was to checkout the branch version x. I'snt that the case? ***: chealer has joined #tikiwiki chibaguy: If it's an svn snapshot rather than a packaged release, that means code is being committed constantly, right? And there could be something that breaks things.
Seems to me it's basically the same situation in trunk and branch 4.x, except that the branch should be getting less radical changes, but still there'd be some risk since it's 'live' code. coaboa: ok.. np just load backup then ;-) so there is no testet-updated svn version incl. security updates? Which means svn is not usable for production sites and one have to update/patche those sites manualy?
Dreamed of having a scriped dumping database + running svn update -security -bugfixes ;-)
*script chibaguy: I think if you want to have a production site that uses the latest svn, the way to do it would be to have your own test site that you'd check things with first, then if it runs without a problem, copy the files to your live site. coaboa: so we are not live yet. and usally do it that way. the last dozens of updates worked well so i became a little jaunty ;-) ***: chealer has quit IRC (Read error: 113 (No route to host)) chibaguy: The nature of the commits in branch 4.x and the people doing them probably mean there wouldn't be problems very often, but it's always possible, so to be safe, checking the snapshot out with a test site would be good.

Apparently not. luciash: will disabling wikiplugins we don't need speed the site up or slow down ? chibaguy: luciash, I don't know. Maybe they don't make a difference, if they aren't being used. luciash: i just disabled about 20 wikiplugins hoping it will speed up a bit but it seems the wikipages load even slower :-p
we have serious slowdown issues with trackerlist wikiplugin :( chibaguy: maybe tiki is looking for those lost plugins. ;-)
(sorry) ;-)
yeah, I wanted to try some things with trackerlist plugins but was wondering about the speed. luciash: it is just severeal users and it already makes more than 500 calls of tracker_item_field_value.tpl and more than 650 openings of lib/smarty/libs/internals/core.load_plugins.php and lib/smarty/libs/internals/core.is_secure.php :(
i wonder how many it does on dev.tw.o chibaguy: wow luciash: bad thing is i made something wrong that even the page with trackerlists appears loading after more than 15 seconds now :(
the hosting company said tiki uses some 3000 loads of different php files in one shot ! chibaguy: :-/ luciash: and it is just few wiki pages, trackers and 19 users including admin and test accounts :-[12:56] <chibaguy> hmmm

IE8 column witdh still messed up when using downloaded version but looks god @ themes.tw.o
So mikyw. @themes.tw.o looks best in IE6 currenty. Thx to your M$ hitting-club ;-) chibaguy: coaboa, I'll check on those milkyway problems when I get a chance. coaboa: no hurry... as the version I use is only messed in IE. And I can live with that till New Year's Eve
Would like to report this on dev.tw.o but still can't login. Should I try to register a new account? luciash: coaboa: register on tw.o
>whatis tw.o Sug4r`: 'tw.o' could be http://tikiwiki.org luciash: darn :) i mean on http://tikiwiki.org/Home chibaguy: luciash, looking at 4.x, when topbar is turned off, the menu stops displaying. that's expected. but the topbar area is still there because of the search form (for example with feb12 or thenews). luciash: yes, but i can't get rid of the loginbar
i switched it off but it still appears in 4.0 chibaguy: maybe it's no longer in topbar? (I need to check the .tpl again.)
maybe it needs its own topbar pref filter.
yeah, login form isn't in tiki-top_bar in strasa, so isn't affected by the pref. luciash: but siteloginbar has its own checkbox so it shouldn't be dependent on the topbar chibaguy: ok, cause I can't find any topbar display pref in the tpls, in 4.x or in 3.3. luciash: heh, i noticed that too, that topbar menu appears even if the topbar is switched off, etc. CIA-50: tikiwiki: 03sylvieg * r23574 10/branches/proposed/tiki-admin_actionlog.php: [bp/r 23570] [FIX]actionlog: see all the visible galleries not only the public one chibaguy: menu disappears because when topbar is turned off because of {if $prefs.feature_top_bar eq 'y' and $prefs.feature_sitemenu eq 'y'} in tiki-sitemenu.tpl.

I guess it should be added to tiki-top_bar_begin.tpl and ...end.tpl.
(the pref filter) luciash: i guess you are right
:) coaboa: and @ milkyway the topmenu is displayd as text without any buttons @ very top of themes.tw.o and the intended topbar (menu41) is empty chibaguy: coaboa, at themes.tw.o, the links at the top of the page are custom code. they aren't a menu, just a row of links.
like at the other tikiwiki.org sites.
but where is menu 41 empty? coaboa: I only see the php menu rounded outer boundaries. It site @ horizontal line between topbar.jpg and header.jpg (centered) with FFox 3.5 ***: btiffin has joined #tikiwiki ildefonso: Hi!
ok, I see..... so, that feature isn't implemented.......
what is the tw3 proposed branch, please?
I think I can give a try and implement a button that lets one insert a link to download a file.
would that one be ok on proposed 3 branch?
what do you think chibaguy? chibaguy: I'm not sure what kind of changes are supposed to go into proposed branch. luciash, do you know?
coaboa, yes, I see the milkyway topbar menu is messed up in ie8 at themes.tw.o.
trying to check in my localhost but my harddrive is running a marathon for some reason. luciash: in proposed branch only bug fixes and usability enhancements chibaguy: ok, ildefonso, can you tell luciash what your commit would be? coaboa: would'nt bother you. Just info. I see that there are more important things to do. Just thought (because effecting different browsers now in different ways) that there could be a more principle/structural problem behind it. ildefonso: luciash : add a button to wiki editor to insert a download link to a file stored in a file gallery, similar to the one used to insert image from file gallery (that currently exists).
would that be a commit that can be done to 3 proposed branch? ***: Tikiwiki|bot has quit IRC (Read error: 145 (Connection timed out)) luciash: ildefonso: if you mean the icon ? and modify the tooltip on the icon to "Insert Image/File from the gallery" ildefonso: mmmm.... I see....
that could be even easier than making a new one.
should that commit go 3 proposed?
I mean, I use 3.3 LTS, so, I would really like to see that in 3 branch someday. luciash: yes, because the toolbars code was rewritten in Tiki4 chibaguy: coaboa, in my local test site, milkyway in ie8 does show the menu ok, but is messed up in other ways, so definitely some work needs to be done on it. luciash: oh, weird, i thought in 3.x is the design.css presented already CIA-50: tikiwiki: 03sylvieg * r23577 10/branches/4.x/lib/imagegals/imagegallib.php: global chibaguy: milkyway for tiki 3 is ok in ie8, so a fix shouldn't be too hard.... -: chibaguy talking like a fool... ***: grobda24 has joined #tikiwiki luciash: heheh chibaguy: luciash, it's strange but when I put the {/if} after </div> in tiki-top_bar_end.tpl, I get a parse error.
If i put the if tags both in tiki-top_bar.tpl (which is the wrapper for its parts) rather than in the begin and end tpls, there's no error and it works fine. luciash: sounds logical to me
every tpl is parsed independently, so you cannot have closing tag in tpl where it si not open chibaguy: ah, ok. CIA-50: tikiwiki: 03sylvieg * r23578 10/branches/4.x/lib/logs/logslib.php: [FIX]actionlog: tmpDir by default has not / chibaguy: so you think the login bar should be considered part of tiki-top_bar even if it isn't actually in the file anymore (as in strasa theme)?
