ibrrorg: don't know what ctcp version is i have ver 3.1 tiki
i am trying to add an image to my main page and don't know how to find the url
***: ildefonso has joined #tikiwiki
ildefonso: polom?
ibrrorg: to clarify, when i attempt to embed it from the file gallery it doesn't show nor does the preview of any of my pics show only the names
so do i now have to create yet more links even though i already loaded the images into the wiki?
ildefonso: ibrrorg : how are you trying to include the image? I just click the "Add Image from File Gallery", and it just works...
off course, I have my images on a file gallery, not on an image gallery.

ibrrorg: sorry, i was reading the docs on this i use the icon on the editor on the far left that says file gallery and i checked and they are saved there
the filenames show up, but no pictures and when i click them they embed the script but no image appears
i can click the tool icon and the picture appears
ildefonso: are you using wysiwyg editor? or normal one.
ibrrorg: the normal one w/o all the bells and whistles
when i click the icon it says gallery:project related
project related is simply my name for a gallery
ildefonso: wiki page, right?
ibrrorg: yes. this is what it inserts in part: tiki-download_file.php?fileId=3
it's the main page i am trying to simply add a picture
ildefonso: in my tiki (3.3) it inserts this: {img src="tiki-download_file.php?fileId=23&thumbnail" alt="" link="tiki-download_file.php?fileId=23&display" rel="shadowbox[g];type=img"}
ibrrorg: it says all that i just didn't print it all here
{img src="tiki-download_file.php?fileId=3&thumbnail" alt="" link="tiki-download_file.php?fileId=3&display" rel="shadowbox[g];type=img"}
ildefonso: or, you could just use: {img src="tiki-download_file.php?fileId=3} and see if that work.
ibrrorg: i am on satellite internet (a bit of a lag) but i thought as all other pictures show up i shouldn't have an issue. perhaps i need to enable some kind of permissions? i am the owner/admin though
ok let me try
ildefonso: mmmm... yes, indeed, I had that problem, when I logged out, the images stopped to show.
in the gallery, go to permissions and then to edit permissions.
ibrrorg: no go. should i maybe try to log out clear the cache stuff and log in again?
ok
ildefonso: and add tiki_p_download_files to Admins , then *another* permission to tiki_p_download_files to Anonymous and the same *another* permission to Registered.
that did the trick for me.
***: Lucymoz has joined #tikiwiki
ildefonso: btw, how much does a satellite connection costs? and, how does it behave?
ibrrorg: satnet, im here in the states is insane! 160/mth i have to have it for my work. a fence line seperates me from 99/month for dsl
att can't provide high speed so i go thru optistream same folks who provide satnet for the govt
hughes net and wild blue are horrid!
ildefonso: ok....
ibrrorg: behave: hit and miss during weather events iffy upload/download
ildefonso: I'm using a EVdO connection right now....
it is... well.... a cell connection.
ibrrorg: yeah i was gonna use verizon, but no signal (1 bar) here mountains of TN
ildefonso: I had a wireless link to my mother's house, and used the dsl over it, but the equipment got damaged, and after replacing, it seems like one antenna is damaged too (or maybe a cable), no time to climb to the roof and test all of it yet, so....
ibrrorg: loading perms will respond when done
ildefonso: ok.
ibrrorg: nothing. i'll deal with it tomorrow. i had asked a person to do some stuff for pay (upgrade to 4.0 and tweak a tracker to display as wiki). do you do that kind of work or am i allowed to ask that in here?
they were currently busy w/another proect
flushed dns and cleared history and it works! yea! thanx for the advice ildefonso!
ildefonso: np!

coaboa: Hello and good morning. Does someone know if there is some material available about (end)users learning curve comparison between tw and other major cms/wiki solotions
chibaguy: hi coaboa, I haven't seen a comparison like that.
for sure, tikiwiki is one of the harder ones to learn.
that's the reason for profiles, etc.
naturally, the more features and configurability, the more to learn.
tho for the other software, where external modules are needed to get the features that are standard in tiki, then of course the learning curve increases as the user has to learn how to use the modules, how to ...
... keep core and module upgrades in sync, and so on.
and needs to track down the info at third-party sites, etc.
coaboa: just curious. Its not me that have to be convinced. I starting some learnign matierial for high level managers. So I like to be prepared. ;-)
chibaguy: well, Rick's tikiwiki for smarties site is a good introduction.
coaboa: Thats right. A love his site. But to much readng for those guy.s. I'll do a "quick reference sheet" and a "10 Bulletpoits to successfully contribute" thing. As those guys currently prepare to send someone a word or pdf doc of their work ;-)
But currently it's still in a phase that the designer thinks he needto change the look back and forth.
btw trying to have a h3box tile image for the right column wich is a different (mirrord) left column image. tryed yesterday with no luck always the sam as left on... any hint?
chibaguy: did you use #col2 .box-title and #col3 .box-title to have separate rules?
coaboa: mom my local server isn't awake yet ;-)
***: btiffin has quit IRC (Remote closed the connection)
coaboa: cant find it. There is a .rbox-title but adding the imagepath just dont change anything:-(
chibaguy: .rbox-title is for the warning/note boxes in the center column, something different.
anyway, your stylesheet should have .box, .box-title or h3.box-title, and .box-data classes together there somewhere.
(if it's a standard tiki stylesheet, or based on one)
coaboa: its milkyway...
chibaguy: line 666 : h3.box-title
(in my 4.x version anyway9
)
coaboa: thats where i put it already. now i need the module boxes in right colum to have a different image.
left the title has leftsided rounded corner right it should have a rounded corner on the right hand...
chibaguy: but milkyway uses a table for layout, so has td#leftcolumn and td#rightcolumn instead of #col2 and #col3. So you can use td#rightcolumn h3.box-title for the titles in the right column.
coaboa: ok...
chibaguy: oh wait a minute. don't these modules already have curved title backgrounds?
coaboa: have to add it though
chibaguy: huh?
coaboa: yes but chnaging it to a different more "fluffy" high key look...
and the modbox.jpg used is flat i need a more web2.0 lookalike
chibaguy: well, in the case of milkyway, the background images are a little complex.
there are actually several images, in order to support flexible-width modules and flexible-height module titles.
so I suggest looking at the background images in styles/milkyway/options/black for example, and using firefox/firebug to see how they fit together.
it isn't just one image.
coaboa: realizing it and would have prefered not having presented milky as foundation;-) But is it possible to just change the bg image for right sided modboxes?
chibaguy: yeah, sure, but like i said, it isn't just one image.
what if the module has a long title that wraps to 2 or even 3 lines? then the module title background has to be able to expand vertically.
coaboa: in case of left & because i do not need the other borders it worked by just changing the h3.box-title image and twisting som margin/padding
chibaguy: ok, whatever works.
coaboa: ok done.
Where can i set the link url for the sitelogo? Thought it was in admin-> l&f -> GeneralLayoutOptions->SiteLogo... but must be elsewhere
what means PHP error (E_USER_WARNING) missing 'var' parameter?
says line 1093 in Smarty.class.php causes the problem (with different themes)
chibaguy: coaboa, as far as i know, the sitelogo link url is index.php. I don't think there's a place to set it, though you can change the index of your site on admin general navigation.
coaboa: as i use index php for a intro i would like to jump to tiki-index.php if logo or home get clicked
we startet with tikipedia and as it uses a module as logobox ther was an option to set the link url. I just remember now how i didi it earlier..
chibaguy: I think I'd just let the logo and menus use the tiki pref for site index. then try using an index.html file for the splash page, if you don't need php there.
coaboa: thats how it is right now but setting HomePage to tiki-index.php?page=notindex just have no effect. Clicking either on home or logo leads to indev.php/html
chibaguy: hm, I've used index.html as an intro page for tiki before, and just use the normal tiki-index.php for the site home.
coaboa: while redirect on error setting works.... eg. if not logged in it displays the intended welcome page
The setting in admin -> general-> nav.-> use different Hompage just change nothing. weird
is there a way to export the content (wiki, topics, articles & categories) at once and reimport it into a clean install?
maybe have to switch back to older version.
which revion of verion 4 is considered as production-stable?
*revision

coaboa: cool thx chibaguy worked.
chibaguy: ok
luciash: helloya
is it possible to install from cmd line using the installer/shell.php ?
ah, looking at the code, it seems it is for upgrades only
chibaguy: luciash, have you ever had a problem with the "fixed-width" layout breaking when there is wide content in the center column?
luciash: nope, it expands
it should
expand
chibaguy: i didn't want it to expand, but instead have the center get a scrollbar (overflow:auto) but now I get a vertical scrollbar on all the pages.
that was one problem.
well, I need to experiment so more.
luciash: what browser r we talkin' about ?
chibaguy: opera and ff.
I wanted to use wordpress background graphics, the kind that assume a constant width.
luciash: where should the scrollbar appear ? in #tiki-center ?
chibaguy: yep, along the right margin, vertical.
luciash: vertical ?
chibaguy: yep. I used overflow:auto, not overflow-x or -y, for validation reasons.
luciash: ah, you mean you get vertical scrollbar now
chibaguy: but couldn't see why vertical, when there's no height on the page.
yeah, I gave #tiki-center a width, like 600px or something and the overflow:auto.
luciash: try to set height: auto explicitly but i fear it will not help
chibaguy: ok, I'll try.
luciash: maybe min-height ?
chibaguy: min-height:auto isn't valid, according to my editor.
luciash: but as i said, i fear nothing will help, because the parent is floated element and these are excluded from the document block flow, thus the height or min-height: some-value must be set if you use overflow: auto
sorry, i meant something like min-height: 300px or min-height: 100%
chibaguy: oh, ok. well, anyway, now I can't find any content wide enough to test the design. ;-)
everything's working.
luciash: heh, just put some loooooooooooooooooooong word in a wiki page ;)
chibaguy: ah, here we go: tiki-galleries.php, make a new gallery has a nice wide table.
yes, scrollbar at page bottom, but not at right side. :-)
too bad there's no scrollbar: top property, for tall scrolling areas.
luciash: i think the vertical scrollbar should be gone if you enable layout shadows
because then "you put a div in a middle" and col1 will be tiki-center's parent nomore
chibaguy: well, for some reason enabling layout shadows caused things to break up.
luciash: hmm :(
chibaguy: which was strange, never saw that happen before.
I need to check into it more closely.
for now, it's working, the page stays at one width, and the center scrolls with wide content.
luciash: which of them worked ?
height: auto or min-height: 100% ?
chibaguy: #tiki-center {overflow:auto;height: auto}
luciash: ok
good to know
chibaguy: yeah. I'll check with ie.
luciash: rather not ;)
chibaguy: really.
luciash: better not :)
*g*
chibaguy: varying degrees of chaos :-)
vertical and horizontal scrollbars, margins overrun on both sides.
well, this is without shadow layers. I need to go back and check why that wasn't working right in ff and opera.
this is all in tiki 3.3 btw.
luciash: oh, i thought 4.x
***: btiffin has joined #tikiwiki
chibaguy: I don't like to think about more than one tiki version, but I guess it's necessary.
some people want to stick with 3.3.
luciash: yep, np
worse is some people want stick with IE6
