nkothsylvieg: how is the profile/datachannel going? I need a wiki-pluginthat can create a wiki page and automatically embed a youtube plugin in it (based on user input: name of new page, youtube link). I suppose I can write a basic non-datachannel plugin, but also a profile is possible... [00:57]
***franck has quit IRC (Quit: franck) [01:00]
luciashnkoth: u can do that with tracker but with wiki plugin only i don't know [01:01]
nkothtracker, how? [01:02]
luciasheasy
just make a field for users to input youtube link
then have a page selector
it will auto create a wiki page
[01:02]
nkothpage selector is a drop down, or only allow new page? [01:03]
luciashthen you need a wiki page template for trackerlist wikiplugin which will have that link embedded as part of youtube plugin
page selector is special field, text input
[01:03]
nkothok, but if I enter en existing page name, what happens? [01:04]
luciashnothing
it doesn't overwrite existing pages
[01:04]
nkothand I can specify a page template I suppose? [01:05]
luciashbtw, sylvie gave up with the profile/datachannel
yes, you can specify page template from which the new page will be created
[01:06]
nkothok, sounds good, that way I have the videos inside the tracker [01:06]
luciashthat one will contain trackerlist wikiplugin [01:06]
nkoth(could be useful for keeping track) [01:06]
luciashnkoth: you can also use Mediaplayer wikiplugin in Tiki 5 if you specify a flv file link uploaded in file gallery
i use to put e.g. dl5 (thanks to rewrite)
[01:08]
nkothbut this s youtube, not flv, but I will keep it in mind [01:08]

Well, I'm sure we'll get to that soon enough
sigh, email addresses not appearing in wiki text
[01:48]

nkothI use ~np~ for now... [01:50]
luciashi don't know what you mean by "Show this text" field [01:51]
nkothwhen you highlight text, and click on the link button, it used to be that the text is pasted into the "Show this text" field in the popup, so that it becomes [link|text to show] when you click ok, otherwise the text you highlighted disappears
and all you get is [link]

ametteamazing... I can't unassign modules any more since my upgrade... any clue? [02:18]
chealeramette: ...which upgrade? [02:23]
amette2.0 -> 3.4
I have lots of custom stuff, most of it ruled out, I'm just thinking of some major change in module management that I might have missed that now gives me trouble
[02:23]
chealeramette: why can you not? [02:31]
ametteI click the red "X", then Tiki asks me to verify the unassignment of the module, everything goes smooth, but the module is still assigned. [02:32]
luciashamette: hi bro, try to clear the tiki cache [02:33]
ametteamette is thinking of starting off with a fresh Tiki - but the data migration - ouch... :(
luciash: heya bro - did that - just tried again, doesn't help
[02:33]
luciashok :-/ [02:34]
ametteswitching themes doesn't help either
next step probably is to make a fresh Tiki-install (not upgrading on top of the old)...
[02:34]

***kerin has joined #tikiwiki [02:36]

[02:39]
kerinyeah, no. it IS funny.
if it were someone else i'd be filled with hilarity.
or something.
[02:39]

absolutely *g*
[02:40]

ametteafaik you can go all in, the installer should handle it as long as you don't upgrade from 1.9 or before...
... but don't take my word for it (should be in the documentation) - luciash ?
[02:41]
kerinalright. ;] so one more question
...how did you mess your upgrade up?
[02:42]
amettehehehehe :)
the scary part is: I don't know... :P
[02:42]
luciashamette: yes ? [02:43]
kerinoh man. i'll make sure not to do SOMETHING, then. [02:43]
amette... the other part is: I used to develop for Tiki and have the hope that there is some old code of mine, not upstreamed that might be giving me trouble - so that would be my trouble to fix - that would be fair ;)
SOMETHING is the worst you can do for sure :P
luciash: safe to upgrade from 2.2 to 4.0 without intermediary sterps? kerin asks
*steps

luciash: what is with the change from image galleries to file galleries or media gallery over all?
apart from my blog the image galleries are the only thing I really would like to migrate...
... what's your suggestion for me - what would be the nicest path?
[02:50]
luciashthey talk about it but never kil it [02:51]
kerinoh, how well i know. once i had a client who wanted me to parse a 40,000+ line CSV file of real estate listings + 2gb of images relating to same (including creating thumbnails) on a nightly basis on her NetBiz hosting... with 5gb of space total and a 30second php execution time limit. [02:51]

kerinthere an elegant way to create a page automatically in a specific category with tiki 4?
i'd written some JS code that autocatted the file based on _GET arguments that were passed from elsewhere but if there's a better way it'd be nice not to have to retrofit anything

stixHi guys. I have this page with a rather table on it. I edit it via the wysiwyg-editor. Everytime I save it my browser just ends up with a blank/white site and then I have to hit F5/refresh and resend the data, then it saves. This happens in both IE and FF and on all machines here. What is going on?
Another question: my tikiwiki 4.1 says that the Image Gallery feature will be phased out in the future - what replaces it?
[08:39]
coaboaimage gallery will be replaced by filegallery.
tryied the tabel thing with 4.1 anfd it works for me. Did you create the tabel within the wysywig editor?
*table

but... switching between wysiwig & basic editor changes the table-syntax and it looses eg. the border. [08:54]

nkothI am trying to put a {$f_xx} as a plugin variable in the pretty tracker template
but the {$f_xx} don't seem to be replaced before it is passed into the wiki-plugin
the wikiplugin sees {$f_xx}
is that the way it works? meaning the pretty tracker substituion happens after, and so it is not really possible to use plugins inside tracker okugins

luciashnkoth: yes, that's current limitation... you cannot use tracker field variables inside *some* wiki-plugins params... strangely in some it seems to work... maybe it's filtered out on some ? it's on my todo list too [16:29]
nkothprobably it "works" if the plugin does not need to "process" it? [16:30]
luciashwhat plugin you tried ? i know it worked for me in mediaplayer but not in include plugin [16:31]
nkothanyway, I have worked around by using the {wikiplugin} tag inside a real smarty template, instead of a wiki page template.
it didn't work for youtube
mediaplayer probably doesn't need to process the var., since it's jsut a full path right?
[16:31]
luciashah :( the one you needed :-p
what you mean by "process" it ?
[16:31]
nkotheg. the plugin will need to take the value of the {$f_xx} and then do stuff to/with it to carry out its operations. e.g. in the youtube plugin, it does some fancy preg_replace. and in include plugin it has to go fetch the wiki page.
But it seems to be the plugin receives the param as {$f_xx} instead of the substituted value...
[16:33]
luciashhmm, maybe it just get url encoded in some, when it gets replaced by the value it shouldn't be the case [16:34]
nkothand then the {$f_xx} gets substituted only after the plugin runs [16:34]
luciashactually i kind of understand it, urls should be encoded and if it works in some plugin, then it should be considered error, not a feature (i mean it is missing the correct filter) [16:36]

If I think as a new user, I find it very difficult to find the help for plugins in Tiki 4 (and trunk)
not intuitive at all!
suggestion: can we split wiki edit help and plugins help (and/or search help, etc.) in tabs, instead of one below the other in long content on short window?
This way, just by opening the help window, new users would see a tab for wiki markup help, AND another for plugin help, and/or search help.... ( jonnyb: and jquery spreadsheet help, etc.)
opinions? ^ ricks99, jonnyb, luciash, and/or others.

alexdagre8Hello, could someone please tell me how to reset all passwords by email as admin(I added a list of users from a csv file and I want them to get an email notification) [19:12]
sylviegthere is a feature in tikitrunk [19:13]
alexdagre8what is tikitrunk? [19:17]
sylviegthe development version
otherwise you can play with the setting 'reset password after ' and I suppose modify the database users_users
[19:17]
alexdagre8I tried setting it to 0 but nothing happened [19:24]

***coaboa has joined #tikiwiki [19:42]
ricks99for example, if current wiki page is in cat A, show module A
is this possible? or do i need to create a user module and test for each categId?

you can still use shadowbox syntax
[19:47]

time9832luciash: it didn't work when i upgraded. the shadowbox syntax messed up everything on my site
for example: http://valuebull.com/Value+Investors
[19:47]
luciashoh really ? can i have a look ? [link|a link|shadowbox] should still work, and for images the rel= param [19:48]
time9832everytime the shadowbox syntax is called, it doesnt work and messes up the tables [19:48]
luciashluciash going have a look [19:48]
time9832how about |shadowbox|nocache]? [19:49]
luciashyes, if u use cached links [19:49]
time9832hmm, i just took out the |nocache snytax and it worked [19:50]
luciashthere can be also some problem that it is used inside a table which uses same delimiters like links "|" [19:51]

jonnybnot proposals/4.x? ;)
scaredy cat!
[19:55]
luciashyou don't know the "don't touch it if it works", do you ? ;) [19:56]
jonnybmaybe wait until branches/4.x is updated for 4.2 release... [19:56]
amettewell, now that I think again, I actually got the 4.x from SVN already and not the 4.1 package... [19:56]
jonnybis this a 1.9 patient we're talking about? [19:57]
amette... oh, oh, proposals are just a command line away... ;)
a 2.0
[19:57]
jonnybthere are still a few things in proposals/4.x we're not going to release, so might be best to wait until they're rolled back [19:57]
amettehmm, ok, I'm in no hurry, I now first gotta fix the theme and that seems to be easier with 4.x series as there I can have the fixed width (no need to backport to 3) [19:58]
jonnybgood plan
how are you? well, i hope :)
[19:59]
ametteyeah, I'm pretty fine, thanks :)
And you?
I just in the last two weeks got into some kind of flow considering working, so that's also why I start Tikiing again... ;)

luciashi thought a category plugin, but i forgot it will probably only display categorized stuff list, not display the content depending on category
ricks99: ^
[20:06]
ricks99was hoping there was a category= param (just like there is a lang=xx) [20:07]
luciashisn't there one for module wikiplugin ? [20:08]
ricks99maye im asking the wrong question.... i have 3 menus. i want a single menu to appear in the left column, depdning on the category of the current page
possible?
[20:09]
luciashcategory jail ?
but that's beyond my knowledge :-p
[20:10]
ricks99i guess asking for a 3.x solution is too much? [20:10]
luciashyes, maybe it is :) [20:10]
ametteno, I don't necessarily think so... [20:11]
luciashmake a custom plugin or module will be easier i guess [20:11]
ricks99y. thats what i'm thinking [20:11]
amette... I have made modules dependent on the feature that is shown in the middle or even dependent on the wiki page name in 2.0 - so it should also work for categs.
amette too
[20:11]
luciashwell, if it's not coded it will not work for them too ;) [20:12]
ricks99y, if i have lots of cats though, it is a lot of {IF} staements [20:12]
ametteyeah, that's true [20:12]
ricks99but should work. tx
just was hoping for an easier off-the-shelf solution
[20:13]
luciashricks99: what modules you tried ? [20:14]
ricks99none. its is for a user module [20:14]
luciashi think it is not possible in 3.x, i thought pagemenu module could be used but it is not there yet
ricks99: or you can dig out the category smarty stuff and try to put that in conditions of the custom module
[20:17]
ricks99y. that's what im doing. {if $categId=xx}{menu xx}{elseif... [20:18]
luciashlike {if $categId eq 1}...
ah :)
[20:19]
ricks99d'oh [20:19]
luciashand it is not what you want ?
:)
[20:19]
ricks99is there any way to do something like:
{on $categId}{menu id=$categId}..
there's *got* to be an easier way than using 10 if..elseif..elseif..
[20:20]
luciashyep, you can try that
{if $categId}...
or if $categId ne '' ...
[20:21]
ricks99ricks99 gotta tweak db to make my menu IDs match the categ IDs
ricks99 wonders why the "first" tiki menu is #43?
[20:22]
luciash42 ? [20:22]
ricks99first user-created menu is 43
is there a reason tiki doesn't start at 0 or 1?
parentId -- not categId
[20:23]
luciashah, no idea, someone got the idea that having id 42 for the first custom menu (which mnu_application_menu in fact is) will be cool (reference to the adam's book hitchhiker's guide to galaxy)
and safe to not override some already created user custom menus
[20:24]
ricks99ok [20:25]
luciashin case of upgrades when the "dynamic menu" was introduced back in time
back then
[20:25]
ricks99right [20:25]
luciashi mean :) [20:25]
ricks99crap. the parentId is valid if viewing the category -- but not necessarily a page in the category
gonna take a bit more work....
