marclaporte: I am not sure when you changed the default for search. Now as I never selected a seach prefs, I am on tiki search - and as my database was sql search - nothing is in the indexes

One of the divisions of our company is looking for a new intranet system, and they invited me to meet with them today as they discuss options.
Our corporate wiki runs on Tiki, which must be why they invited me, since I'm not part of our IT group.
Anyone know if there are other companies that are using Tiki as their main intranet system?

So far so good.  Due to the nature of the company, we need versioning for government documentation, and tiki handles it perfectly.
Structures, grooupmail, calendaring... all fit nicely
great venue for SOP's, the collaborative features... well, you know Tiki, pretty much anything oyu can think of

2 years ago, not so much because of lack of workspaces.  But now, we also have http://doc.tikiwiki.org/WebDAV which is a perfect for the transition period
in companies, there is still typically a huge legacy of forms and data in files
most of which should become wiki pages and web forms (trackers), but migrating old stuff is sometimes not worth it
MacLeod, we are a small company.  We specialize in IVRS/IVWS data collection for biotech and pharmacuetical compnies doing clinical drug trials.
Our corp. Wiki is still running Tiki v3.1.  We demo'd 4.x, but there weren't enough new features that we would use to make it worth the upgrade effort.  I'm really looking forward to the full release of 5.0.

Some of our senior management would **LOVE** a good collaborative spreadsheet app.  They tried Lotus Notes, and never got the hang of it.  Google Docs doesn't interest them.  They've reverted to using shared Windows folders.  ;P
I tried the old Tiki spreadsheet feature, and found it to be pretty far from ready-for-primetime.

One feature request I was thinking of adding to dev relates to integration of search functions.  Our users don't want to have to go to the freetags page to search by tag.  It would be great if the search modules could dynamically suggest (as Quick Edit module does) freetags, categories, page titles, etc. 
Also, if a search phrase matches a wiki page title, that should be ranked first in results.
Currently, an exact phrase match will often put the wiki page at the bottom of the first page, or even on the second page of results.
MacLeod : which is why I changed the default to MySQL full text search, which, in my experience provides better results

do not dream to much with lucene - it will mainly give you a tokenizer (only for english) , a different weight between column (this is good) and probably a better ranking - but it is not google with tons of dictionaries and corpus

I mean, once you are connected with finder, then right click on the .odt (or doc) files, edit them with your Office application in Mac, and save directly from your office application, to see if it saves in the webdav folder

in 2005 I was using OOo and Word frmo Windows with the TikiDav Mod on Tiki (1.8 or 1.9, I don't remember)
so older ms words were capable in theory to save on webdav folders

tiki pretends to use utf8 even if the database isn't
i'm not sure to what mysql defaults, but i've tried to force utf8_unicode_ci in the my.cnf
you need to set it when you make the database initially

i know that tiki uses the encoding of the created db

I have a problem with staging and approval with categories.  I think I am missing some of the permissions.  I am on 4.0 and I reset the cache but still cant get tiki_p_view_categorized and tiki_p_edit_categorized to show.  Also Category Transition doesn't seem to work.  Anyone able to help me?
