RavenC: hello everyone
jonnyb: i'm just doing some 3 to 5 updates and have got this thing where users have to re-validate after update - hasn't this come up before?
pwz: does tiki support ldap over ssl auth?
***: Caarrie|away is now known as Caarrie
luciash: jonnyb: ah, u mean version 3 to version 5
jonnyb: yes (hi luciash)
luciash: hi jonny
sylvieg: pwz: in tiki4 yes
luciash: jonnyb: is it wrong that they must re-validate ?
jonnyb: in tiki 3 the field 'waiting'=='u' (which means not validated yet) gets checked after the password hash - but in tiki 5 it's first
pwz: is version 6 going to be lts?
(tiki 6)
luciash: pwz: yep
sylvieg: jonnyb: in the releases notes of 4 there is a story about waiting
jonnyb: in userlib->validate_user_tiki()
ah, thanks sylvieg - i thought it rang a bell
i don;t think all the users should have to re-validate after an update
pwz: will users have to follow upgrade path 4->5->6 or is it possible 4->6?
sylvieg: there is some cases I never really figure out when I took away the password visible
pwz: i'm currently using 3.5, but it doesn't support ldap over ssl (or kerberos)
luciash: pwz: should be possible 4 > 6 but hard to tell now
sylvieg: you can upgrade directly from 3 to 6
luciash: hopefully yes
pwz: i know, that's why i'm planning to keep 3.5, but this ldap over ssl is an issue
luciash: are we going HTML5 for Tiki 6 ?
@all devs
jonnyb: sylvieg: didn't it used to use the `valid` == NULL to mean validated?
-: jonnyb doesn't believe in html5
luciash: jonnyb: why ? you think it will fail ?
sylvieg: jonnyb: yes is waiting is empty it means user can go
jonnyb: but i have a 3.5(ish) DB with valid users still with waiting=u
ignore you think? (i can hack the data)
luciash: no, mainly because i haven't found time to work out what it's all about! :)
sylvieg: aha! in 3 the test is (!empty($res['valid']) && $res['waiting'] == 'u') but in 5 it's only ($res['waiting'] == 'u')
luciash: html5 would bring much more possibilities (native video without plugins, canvas, etc.) and flexibility to not to care about all the xhtml validity restrictions :-p
-: luciash has to try *lite CSS version with HTML5 first
jonnyb: maybe an update script to fix it?
bbl - food
luciash: bon apétit
pwz: so, is there any chance to see ldaps in 3.x ?
luciash: pwz: only if someone will invest time to backport it (if possible)

ricks99: *in fact
xavi: the example about wikipedia: i mean about the power of crowdsourcing things as much as possible, which is much more sustainable for some tasks than making them depend on just a few people
wikipedia example: I mean in the beggining, compared to the unsucess of Nullpedia (wasn't it his name in the beggining, when it had to be reviewed by high-skilled reviewers?)
ricks99: wikipedia != croudsourcing. last stat i saw... 85% of edits are made by <1% of users.
and something like 95% of users have made fewer than 5 edits
xavi: ricks99: but with this same rule, then, we should then restrict access to anybody to commit to svn...

but only 50 or so contribute on a regular basis...
and of those, theres only 10-15 "key" contributors
xavi: the important thing is that anybody can contribute with this fixes
even if not many contributions, and even if they fall into the not-frequent contributors,
ricks99: y. an anyone who wants to advertise a tiki event just asks. (like u just did)
xavi: anyway, I need to go back to some other work.
