I got a problem with the search on dev.tikiwiki.org. Even though I am logged in, I do not have permission to do a full text search. Is that intentional or a bug?
I was searching for guidelines for code documentation because looking at the code, there seems no apparent rule like comment classes/functions in phpdoc or whatever style

Hello, I have several id (bugs, wishes) about data conversion form 3.x or 4.x and invalid display (like an UTF8 as Ascii) and many crashes. I found that the text (object titles and contents) when using UTF8 the native UTF8 code was altered in the way :  for "é" xC3A9 becomes xC383xC2A9 à control sequence x83C2 is inserted between the two UTF8 chars, for UTF8 one char coded the sequence x83C2...
...follows the char. 5.0 don't uses this feature, and, as the import module don't makes the conversion of the data, we get a complete failure. Practically I could not import at all databases coming from 3.x or 4.x to 5.0. I have created a new database and imported a part (tiki_page, structures, object) with a quite manual conversion everything I have tested functions. What's the matter...

Hi, I am able to go inside this problem, but I need to know when, how, and why (I suppose) this special encoding has appeared for 3.x to 4.x, 5.0 is clear. I can confirm that a manual conversion of data coming from 3.x or 4.x  with PSPAD for example from an sql dump by suppressing the x83C2 gives good data and a 5.0 database OK. For the moment, as I have done by appending only tiki_page,...
...structures and objects it is partial. I will, as soon as possible (I found the problem this night) 1- convert a full data base 3.3  2- install 5.0 using this database, this operation will confirm if or not conversion procedure is OK. After a routine will detect these x83C2 and make the right treatment and all problem will be away, I hope.

lphuberdeau : I am testing now an installation  5.0.x (current) with a converted database 4.2 in my way (suppressed into the full database x83C2). It should be useful to know the reason of the x83C2 inserted into UTF-8 char sequences)
let me know how that upgrade goes
I think fixing this mess is my only objective for today, other than going to the beach once done
