Trebly | <jonnyb_> or Who works on ckeditor.
Thank's for yesterday and sorry for the time spent. The problem remains curious and I have to take care. Today, It seems to me that you worked a lot on ckeditor 1- Something is not clear for me : how to introduce plugins into the wysiwyg ? What is programmed or how, where ? 2- May be something known and somebody working on, when a text (copied from a simple text) the "source" button shows the source, but without changing anything you don't get back the text content (original breaks of lines are deleted - the problem of the tikiwiki format for split of lines, but the break into the original wysiwyg should not be deleted by the change of editor why not... ...translate into tiki line breaks that are html <br /> should be introduce before copying into the "source"). If you introduce manually the break are shown but the second time they are crashed again. 3- May be something known and somebody working on : if into the text copied they are keywords like BUG they become links [BUG] they should not. So if the [] are suppressed they will not reaper. Do I create BUG trackers ? for these points ? | [00:39] |
jonnyb | hi Trebly - try the help/plugins popup (near top right on the toolbar)
off now - nn | [00:41] |

Trebly | <luciash< I am developing several enhancements and tracking bugs, so I know well the use of the option. My question must be interpreted into the development context.
More there was a bug into the treatment of the strings which introduces a CR into the subject line, this was breaking the normal flow of the mail and the end of the mail was displayed as text... So I develop a new version which : 1- Puts the <!-- TPL.....> as a header ofr the text and <!-- /TPL ... > as a footer. 2- Suppress for the mails the same into the subject line of the mail which is completely without interest in my opinion and against the object of the feature 3- A possibility is farther to introduce a tikitag with this information not only for test but always (or optionally) into the mail header RFC5322 and MIME without affecting the display but very useful to debug (when the message has errors of content or trnaslation, editing the source shows the TPL name). This is my proposal. I can develop and offer a these separate options : tikitest for... ...HTML sources, tikitest for mails with three values "display" or "hidden" or "none". | [00:55] |
luciash | good ideas
i thought you're not aware where it comes from but now i see you want to enhance the feature, thanks | [00:58] |

congratulations, jonnyb, on the xajax_removal -> trunk merge. :-) | [06:28] |
I updated a Tiki 4 site to trunk, and everything went smoothly.
About the login module, though, I think we need a new "siteheader_login" module (or similar name) that retains the smaller layout of the Tiki 6 site header login form. Also a "siteheader_login_popup" module, to keep the Fivealive-style popup. | [06:35] | |

long time since i've been here! Congrats on all the progress that you made on tikiwiki! I've got a really dumb Q : I'm still running 3.3 (yeah, I know...) but now I have time to update my server. But want to get rid of all the errors before doing so. Because everything was working fine, never really looked into the error.log file... but every request seems to trigger a reference to /styles/transitions/1.9to3.3.css which doesn't exist. shoud I just rename the 1.9to3.0.css which is contained in the 3.3 tar.gz install package to 1.9to3.3.css? | [08:17] |

mostly, not too bad. I was playing with making a "tiki-top" module that contains both the menu and the search form, at the right side. Most of the current themes have this arrangement. | [11:26] |

you still about? i think making one big module for the top is a definite step backwards - it can all be done with modules/profiles i've got the fixed_width feature working better locally - so you can type the width you want into look&feel - just tidying up | [12:15] |

chibaguy | jonnyb_ : No, I'm not saying one big module for the top. I'm talking only about the former div#tiki-top, that contains the menu + the search form in Tiki 6 and older. | [12:46] |
jonnyb_ | hi chibaguy
ok, i guess that was a common layout - but you can do it just with css on the modules | [12:47] |
chibaguy | In Eatlon, these are styled together (#tiki-top and a second "wrapper" div inside tiki-top enable the dark background image).
I'd like to see how to do that with just the modules. | [12:48] |
jonnyb_ | yes, i just added a header_outer div to help that kind of thing - we might even need a 3rd one | [12:48] |
chibaguy | ok, but I'm not referring to the entire site header, just to the rectangle that contains the menu and (often) the search form. | [12:50] |
jonnyb_ | it doesn't look like it's too far off now
the background seems to be clipped on the left (some margin might fix that) | [12:51] |
chibaguy | in Eatlon, there's <div#tiki-top><div.wrapper> {menu} {searchform}</div></div>.
that's why it's clipped: it's missing the div within #tiki-top. | [12:52] |
jonnyb_ | oh ok - should be fairly simple to fix... (he says boldly!) | [12:53] |
chibaguy | the class/element names can be changed of course, but anyway that background treatment needs two nested divs. | [12:53] |
jonnyb_ | just changing #tiki-top .wrapper to #tiki-top .role_navigation seems to fix it for me | [12:54] |
chibaguy | true, unless you want the search form to be in there, as in previous releases.
then a new module is needed, as far as I can tell. | [12:55] |
jonnyb_ | can't you just position the search module over the top? | [12:55] |
chibaguy | possibly. | [12:55] |
jonnyb_ | it has transparent background | [12:55] |
chibaguy | I'll give that a shot. | [12:56] |
jonnyb_ | ok, not 100% "true" semantically, but then search isn't really part of a "nav" is it?
i'll do it here & commit just need to fix the petals thing background image... | [12:56] |
chibaguy | yeah, that used a div that ended above the menu, before, as I recall.
#sioptions, or #header-top or something, which no longer exists. | [12:57] |
jonnyb_ | #header-top by the look of it | [12:58] |

jonnyb_ | ok, no rush! :) i need to convince you of all people that this is a step in the right direction, it should make life so much easier (eventually)
so anything i can do to help, just yell! | [13:03] |
chibaguy | heh, I'm sure we're on the right track. just need to polish things up. ;-) | [13:05] |
jonnyb_ | absolutely
i've also been thinking about a new theme to make the most of this and the (coming soon) theme genny | [13:05] |
chibaguy | well, I've been trying to think about simplifying the css somehow. | [13:06] |
jonnyb_ | did you get a chance to investigate the jquery-ui theme roller? It's clever how is seems to use semi-transparent png backgrounds with a bg colour to create user-defined textures | [13:07] |

robertplummer | I have a mysql query that takes 0.0005 seconds to run on a local system, I have a system that is right next to it that runs the same query, but connects to the first system to run it. The latter takes 5 seconds to connect using mysql_connect while using an ip address. What can I do to make it faster?
I don't think it is DNS because first off, it is an ip address, and secondly, DNS seems to work fine in the building. I've lost about 25% of my hair and it is accelerating, anyone have a clue? changi, lphuberdeau tells me you are a sysadmin, what do you think? | [15:00] |
ricks99 | use a shorter wire between the two systems ? ;-) | [15:03] |
jonnyb_ | how "next to" it is it?
can you connect using a socket somehow? also maybe check out firewall/proxy stuff on the db server - might be slowing things down | [15:03] |
robertplummer | I guess it is on the other side of the room. Probably about 50 feet of cable away now that I think of it, lol. | [15:05] |
jonnyb_ | i mean in terms of network setup of course - they're on the same subnet i guess | [15:06] |

jonnyb_ | ping between them is fast, yes? | [15:08] |

jonnyb_ | so you have php on both machines? what i'm getting at is it the same "the other way round" | [15:12] |
robertplummer | Both machines have php, the one that is slow is a phone server and the query is for caller id, the other system is their crm.
I've not tried to connect to the phone server from the crm server. | [15:13] |
jonnyb_ | just wondering if it really is a comms thing, or the db setup on the 2nd machine in general | [15:15] |
robertplummer | Possibly, but it is a stock ubuntu server with mysql installed.
It has been super fast, we upgraded from a windows box that was slower than a turtle. | [15:17] |

So long as TIki's options are called? | [18:34] |
ricks99 | anyone flying into BOS for tikifest boston? I'd like to coordinate arrival times... | [18:47] |
robertplummer | Ah man jonnyb, getting ready to commit a refactoring of sheet that fixes edit for tiki, there was some broken js. It is FAST! | [18:58] |
jonnyb | robertplummer: you ok with that sheet thing now? | [19:04] |
robertplummer | yea | [19:05] |
jonnyb | ricks99: i'll be travelling to boston with Team Laporte, by buss apparently - no idea when though | [19:05] |
robertplummer | I've ripped it out of jquery-tiki.js and info grid, it is broken a bit, but will be untill I fully update sheet to it's new calculations engine internally
I've also gotten rid of jqueryTiki calls in sheet, all direct $ or sheet. | [19:05] |

robertplummer | Ok guys, svn up and check resize and full screen for tiki. | [20:00] |
CodyG | assing global permissions/ file galleries/ can view file galleries is the only permission i can find that is simialr and I dont' want anon to view file galleries. or is it an object permission?
assigning | [20:03] |
ricks99 | they'll need download, too, in order to view the image on their pc
from their browser | [20:04] |
CodyG | ok... view and download file galleries works because anon never sees a menu? | [20:07] |
*** | robertplummer has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 265 seconds) | [20:07] |
ricks99 | sorry. i don't understand your question. in order to view an image, the group needs the correct permissions. Please read docs http://doc.tiki.org/Permissions for full details. | [20:08] |
CodyG | I agree. a group needs permissions. so there there a way to give anon permission to see only one image? Or do I need to use html and an image not in the cms gallery? Sorry if I'm sounding confuddling. a new cms can be a tad strange.
if anon knows to type mydomain.org/tkit-list_gallery.php anon sees the gallery, even it there isn't a menu item for anon. | [20:10] |
ricks99 | you can apply permission to an individual object (such as a file). the obect permissions will override the group/global permissions | [20:12] |
CodyG | good... so how do I apply one object permission | [20:12] |
ricks99 | if you're new to Tiki. you might find this primer useful: http://twbasics.keycontent.org/How+Permissions+Work
you can create a single gallery that is vislble to anonymous. then any image you store in that gallery will be visible for everyone | [20:12] |
CodyG | hopefully my site is for a community home owner group. A "strata" ... they want anon to see some pretty pictures but not much else.... more of an intranet is needed. It sounds like tiki would be a good app.
thanks rick99! That sounds like a good plan. | [20:16] |
ricks99 | 'yes. Tiki is *highly* flexible and configurable. | [20:17] |
CodyG | i've been struggling with drupal for a couple of years.... nice conferences but that cms is torture
i started out with phpnuke ver 5.... before that I had a wildcat winserver, pcboard and my first cms(bbs) was something called spitfire. | [20:17] |
ricks99 | welcome to tiki. hope you enjoy it :-) | [20:20] |
CodyG | i remember looking at tiki once a long time ago, had another look last week and thought... hmmmmm... I should give that app a try! and except for the learning curve, I'm pretty darn pleased. Will get the new book. | [20:20] |

robertplummer | You guys see any reason to keep those fieldsets in wiki edit? I'd like to clean them up with div. | [20:31] |

but I think that will be revisited somewhere in 7 to improve the mobile support | [20:35] |

sylvieg | :-( It is bugged

robertplummer | So are we really using fieldsets for anything? | [20:37] |

sylvieg | :-( | [20:37] |
ricks99 | used to group simliar options | [20:37] |
robertplummer | Yea, but isn't that the purpose of nearly every type of object in html? :) | [20:38] |
CodyG | rick: anon gallery thing didn't work for me, yet. I'll try again later. gotta go. thanks | [20:38] |
robertplummer | To group similar things.... | [20:38] |
*** | CodyG has left | [20:38] |
ricks99 | y, but fieldset provides visual cues to end-users
instead of a list of 25 options, you can have 4 groups of 5 options *much* better ui, ux, and retention | [20:38] |
sylvieg | +1 to keep fieldset | [20:39] |
ricks99 | however, having a fieldset with 1 item is not very useful | [20:39] |
robertplummer | That is what I'm talking about ricks99 | [20:40] |
ricks99 | specific page/example? | [20:40] |
robertplummer | I think this fieldset is going the way of the dino in wiki edit, because there is only 1 item in it.
On wiki edit just under the wiki textarea | [20:40] |
ricks99 | i see "describe changes" and "monitor" | [20:41] |
robertplummer | "Describe the change you made"
It messes with resize and makes it look sloppy | [20:41] |
lphuberdeau | the amount of options in there is variable depending on what is enabled | [20:41] |
ricks99 | the ones on Properties tab should b removed
if there is not a logical groups, imho it should be removed if the purpose is simply for visual separation, just just a div, simplebox, etc for a11y, <fieldset> has a very specific meaning | [20:41] |
lphuberdeau | the issue is mostly that some are OK, and others were added for consistency even if there was only one field | [20:43] |
ricks99 | a fieldset with 1 field is wrong. | [20:43] |
robertplummer | Ok, maybe a bad idea then. Perhaps a little margin on the top and we're good to go. | [20:43] |
lphuberdeau | I personally don't understand why preview is small while save and cancel are big... cancel should be the small one because it can be destructive | [20:44] |
robertplummer | I also see in the css where the wiki editor children are 99% width, and it looks horrid at fullscreen, if I give the fieldset a width of 100% and give it lets say 5px top margin it looks pretty good, what do you guys think? | [20:44] |
ricks99 | should b the same size
(buttons i mean) the css is wrong. 2 are submit, 1 is class button | [20:44] |
sylvieg | sylvieg thought it was because preview what updated in real time
sylvieg does not like the new preview behavior | [20:46] |
ricks99 | same issue with the NO TABS button. it is different size from all other ui bttons | [20:47] |
