i'm really sort of time this week (for a change!) - why not commit to the experimental branch and i'll have a look? | [12:11] |

all of the syntax is documented in tests | [13:31] |

sylvieg | ok I can do a "and" tester | [13:32] |

lphuberdeau | lib/test/core/Search/Expr/ParserTest.php | [13:35] |
sylvieg | lphuberdeau: also I put the boost on title, etc.. that is not well implemented - need to be on object basis - but I can not have it works as it is now? Is the boost redefined somewhere? | [13:38] |
lphuberdeau | what do you mean?
right now, there is no weighting on anything | [13:38] |
Trebly | <jonnyb> I will do, but it's easier to have first an url to look at the result and commit to the exprerimental branch to see what I have done.
I am not completely ready, this because during three month I had near 140s to generate a page which made the development very slow (I got 10 factor). During this time a lot of files concerned by my changes have been modified and the merges crashes my work (particularly css and tpl). I am looking for the way to change the merge into a conflict if files are css or tpl. Simultaneously I test Eclipse with aptana (as plugin) using the server as development platform. This takes time, it was the priority and I need to use my server while before I was using my portable till 5.2. | [13:39] |
sylvieg | I want to boost the title for instance to have a term in a title more important thatn a term in a content | [13:39] |
lphuberdeau | it's not "now well implemented", it's "not implemented" | [13:39] |
sylvieg | so I added in Lucene.php fieldBoost
but before I implement it correctly I need to have it works | [13:40] |
lphuberdeau | the main issue you will run into is that a normal search does not actually search in the title field | [13:41] |
sylvieg | ahaha... my test seems to search on title
(name og a page) | [13:42] |
lphuberdeau | it searches in the 'contents' field, which is aggregated at index time
and contains the title in there | [13:42] |
sylvieg | :-( I did not see thath | [13:42] |
lphuberdeau | the default behavior of searching all fields in the lucene implementation caused major timeouts
however, the fieldboost still has a use to nullify the ranking provided by permissions matched | [13:43] |
sylvieg | So you use it? | [13:45] |
lphuberdeau | have not seen the code, but something like that was needed, just ran out of time | [13:45] |
sylvieg | so is it possible to implement a boosting on page name for instance? | [13:46] |
lphuberdeau | it's query-dependent | [13:47] |
sylvieg | query?
it should be in the index | [13:47] |
lphuberdeau | well, if you boost the title field but not search on it, you have an issue | [13:48] |
ripero | Are there any plans to integrate flattr buttons to tiki? | [13:49] |
lphuberdeau | so you need to adapt your query for something to happen
ripero: no plans afaik | [13:49] |
ripero | lphuberdeau: ok, thanks | [13:49] |
sylvieg | if content page and page name have been indexed separetly - no need for the query to know soemthing | [13:50] |
ripero | (sorry for the interruption) | [13:50] |
lphuberdeau | as I said, a normal query will not hit all fields
thus not consider many of them | [13:50] |
sylvieg | I did not find out slow down when indexing multiple fields
if the fields are not stored in lucene perhaps I can reintroduce this notion? | [13:52] |
*** | lphuberdeau has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 250 seconds)
ricks99 has joined #tikiwiki lphuberdeau has joined #tikiwiki | [13:57] |
lphuberdeau | hte searching on all fields is slow, not the indexing
http://blog.lphuberdeau.com/wordpress/2010/12/sensible-defaults/ | [14:02] |
sylvieg | but the boost on a title improves a lot a search | [14:03] |
lphuberdeau | going from searching all fields to searching content in an aggregating, I went from timeout after 60 seconds to subsecond results | [14:04] |
sylvieg | on my 5000 files Indexing and search was acceptable ... | [14:04] |
lphuberdeau | do you have the amount of fields indexed in the unified search? | [14:05] |
sylvieg | perhaps 1/4 slower that yours only | [14:05] |
lphuberdeau | you can search in title as well if you want to, but you need to build your search query accordingly to specify you really want that field handled independentlyl
then your weighting will be considered | [14:06] |
sylvieg | I do not want the search independently. I want to have a document with A as title returns before a document with A as the data | [14:10] |
lphuberdeau | (query in contents) or (query in title), single search query that will affect your weighting
effectively, it does not affect results, but when it goes to the ranking phase, it will give additional weight to words in title if you ask it to Search_Query is where the expressions get built from | [14:11] |

lphuberdeau | about and/or, I think it's very context dependent, you can always specify explicitly and or or, but I think having or by default makes sense as the result ranking is going to keep the best ones on top anyway | [21:57] |

rodrigo_sampaio | lphuberdeau: what is the advantage of using the new TikiLib::lib() method? avoid calling global and require_once once everywhere or there is something else? | [22:18] |
lphuberdeau | that's pretty much it
however, there is a side benefit that after a while, we might be able to grep for global and see the globals that need killing | [22:19] |

luciash | pollyp | [22:32] |
jonnyb | hi rodrigo_sampaio - you get home ok?
(i'm guessing) | [22:33] |
luciash | nope, it's a ghost
:) | [22:34] |
jonnyb | the downside of the TikiLib::lib thing is Aptana has no idea what's in there, so no code completion etc :(
:) | [22:34] |
luciash | thought u switched 2 net beans | [22:35] |
jonnyb | hey, he might still be in the airport (they have free wifi)
same | [22:35] |
luciash | ah
:) or :( | [22:35] |
jonnyb | i switched back to aptana during the 'fest cos 'beans was locking up for 10 seconds each time i typed something (into trackrlib)
:D | [22:36] |
luciash | kewl | [22:36] |
jonnyb | but now i'm back on the beans as i haven;t found time to re-jig all my local sites (hot key confusion) | [22:37] |
luciash | RobertPlummer: nice, i think i will find use for that JSON export
RobertPlummer: or YAML | [22:38] |
RobertPlummer | Yea, the yaml thing is awesome! | [22:39] |

sylvieg | lphuberdeau: I agree with you with the or /and - it is whu I think it could be a checkbox .. to make everubody happy
.. without the typo... sylvieg hopes chealer's keyboard will solve my bad typo ;=) | [22:47] |
lphuberdeau | I'd rather wait to see them unhappy, that feature was requested only because the previous ranking was horrible
(was sort by 1 actually) | [22:48] |
jonnyb | we all hope that sylvieg :) | [22:49] |
sylvieg | I think it is a rela need to have a and and have a nice lucene search
I think people are crazy because lucene ranking will be enough but they want to know... | [22:49] |
lphuberdeau | let them see it first | [22:51] |
sylvieg | the bad behavior in tiki .. 6.. was to automatically do an or when and was not working | [22:51] |
lphuberdeau | I don't think adding yet an other option speculating on past failures is a good thing | [22:51] |
sylvieg | I think they need more that first | [22:51] |
jonnyb | here's my little boston vid: http://tv.tiki.org/A+note+for+Marc+from+boston | [22:52] |
sylvieg | sylvieg does not think lucene search is so ggod | [22:52] |

brian | [22:58] |
jonnyb | indeed - tikifests 2012 beckon | [22:59] |
sylvieg | the problem is .. where .. My cousin has a couple of renting houses - we can have for a very lower rate - but it is in Normandy not close to an airport | [23:04] |
jonnyb | is near to eurostar though, no?
& tvg | [23:05] |
sylvieg | not really
