rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb, chealer: Not sure anymore if I'm going to change i18n.tiki.org to branches/7.x. During TikiFestBoston we just decided that the best would be to commit translations direct to trunk and if anyone wants can merge to some other branch. My plan is to keep i18n.tiki.org on trunk and merge the translations to branches/7.x every time a export and commit them to trunk. Any ideias? Suggestions?
I think that creating an exception for i18n.tiki.org will mess the new rule of commiting translations to trunk
[17:41]
jonnybthat sounds like it will create unresolvable conflicts - because people will need to make translations in 7.x (for the release) and the merge script does lang as well as everything else
and conflicts in lang files are notoriously hard to untangle
[17:43]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: but the point is that the new policy is commit your translations to trunk and merge them to other branches if you want/need. so people should not commit to a branch directly. if they are doing this they are assuming the risk of loosing their work.
jonnyb: for the languages that are using i18n.tiki.org I can merge than to branches/7.x after commiting to trunk

Trebly<jonnyb> I have always made this for getting a repository to develop.
In fact because the time to generate pages have increase of a 10 factor since the 5.x, I have installed a server to get develop and test. I use it as a second CPU I edit my files on local network or directly with teamviewer6 (because my 32" screen is still installed on my portable°
This allows from my portable to update files on the server repository, run directly by dyndns (wiew from anypoint, you can make it run and see the results of my job dynamically)
So I create a repository.

TreblyMy true server is on my host provider OVH (but it has not xdebug neither any tool then I have an exported replication on my server if a bug appear and I can compare with the repository)
I have operational all 5.X 6.x and 7.x I am generating an updated 7x on the server repository.
sorry for the length they manythings to explain.
My old portable computer is a client
[19:29]
jonnybok, i've not done it that way - i usually just checkout the branch from sourceforge onto the server [19:30]
Trebly<jonnyb< How long on your computer to treat a 7x page with the "portal" with many modules ? [19:32]
jonnybless than a second (e.g. my trunk locally with 12 modules on)
including calendar which can be a bit slow
[ Execution time: 0.96 secs ] [ Memory usage: 33.50MB ] [ 68 database queries used in 0.0 secs ]
jonnyb has found a new smiley
[19:33]
ricks9933MB?!? seems a lot. we tell folks that the min requirement is only 32M [19:35]
Trebly<jonnyb> which processor and disk, because I had the last month 138s with a pentiumM750 with 2 Go memory.
My little serveur wiorks with a Dual core 2 M7500 and 4Go and SCSI disks with 300Mo/s it takes 15s for the first page

jonnybhey rodrigo_sampaio - you still there? i'm trying to run the unittests on 7.x - i made an empty db and added lib/tests/local.php but am getting PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function tra() in /Users/jonny/NetBeansProjects/branches/7.x/db/tiki-db-adodb.php on line 43 [20:23]
lphuberdeauhow do I add the memory bar thing in 7? [20:24]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: lib/test/local.php you mean right (without the s)? [20:24]
jonnyblphuberdeau: server info you mean? it's a module now (everything is a module, almost)
yes, rodrigo_sampaio - test no 's'
[20:25]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: I never saw this error before. We define tra() on bootstrap.php for the tests
jonnyb: how you are trying to run the tests? maybe you are doing it in a way that is ignoring bootstrap.php
[20:25]
jonnybdo the tests use adodb? [20:25]
lphuberdeauI'm at 4MB on admin home
4.9 on HomePage
[20:25]
jonnybi did "cd lib/test" then "phpunit ." [20:26]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: this is the right way [20:26]
jonnybused to work like that for me [20:27]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: which phpunit version are you using? my suggestion is for you to check if the bootstrap.php is being included or not [20:27]
jonnybPHPUnit 3.4.15 [20:27]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: I think that the problem is that for some reason phpunit is ignoring the bootstrap.php and that is why the tra() function is undefined
jonnyb: I have the same phpunit version
jonnyb: I had other problems but with phpunit 3.5
[20:28]
Trebly<jonnyb> OK I made comparisons and your computer his 14th faster than my new one. and before I was 1/150 slower.
Nevertheless, regardless client computer often in many places with 2 or 3 Mb operational. This mean 300Ko/s and 5 second to transmit and near 8 seconds to load a page (depending of the local capability).
This can be acceptable for loading a portal, no to view an article or a wiki.
This is the reason why I began to work on a development with allows that the contents of a wiki or an article could be loaded with an ajax function.
The first part of the development had been to hav a div for each separated part of a page with an id.
The second step has been to use the actual navigators to run ajax request for the page (this need that tiki.tpl could deliver for paramaters only the requested content.
The third job had been to anticipate by loading some pages.
they used only generally 10 to 40ko and can work in hidden time.
Then tiki will be the faster for this type of read. 1/10s for refresh with a new page of an article or wiki page.
Because of the time taken by my computer I could not do it in noraml conditions
[20:28]
jonnybTrebly: you just need to use the {jq} plugin on a page and a line of JS to do that - no dev required (or really wanted) back in tiki for v slow servers [20:30]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: wait a second, tra() is defined on lib/test/core/bootstrap.php and not lib/test/bootstrap.php [20:30]
jonnybrodrigo_sampaio: is that good? :P [20:31]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: I don't know :)
jonnyb: it is unexpected for me
[20:31]
jonnyblphuberdeau: only 4MB? mine's showing 34MB for a homepage with about 10 modules (in french at the moment)
lphuberdeau: have you made some improvements there?
[20:31]
lphuberdeauyou'd have to check those 10 modules
stock
[20:32]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: huh... bootstrap.php include lib/init/tra.php and core/bootstrap.php define function tra() [20:32]
lphuberdeausome of em don't behave [20:32]
jonnybcalendar is one of them (i like to live dangrously!) [20:32]
lphuberdeaucalendar takes like 20M alone [20:32]
rodrigo_sampaiojonnyb: so if bootstrap.php includes lib/init/tra.php my theory still makes sense. maybe for some reason phpunit is not considering your bootstrap.php and that is what is causing the error. I have to go now but tomorrow I can help you with that. we need to have a test suite that devs can run :) [20:33]
jonnyb0.0
rodrigo_sampaio: i added $api_tiki = 'pdo' to my test/local.php and now i get dozens of other errors... (absorbing)

hmm, no - it's made 32 of them...

jonnybmight it be a mysql user privilege thing i wonder?
also, the tables that were created had the wrong collation
[20:38]
lphuberdeauif I were you, I would just recreate that db [20:40]
jonnybdid that - same issue - also switched the user to root
seems odd it's using adodb though, no?
[20:41]
Trebly<jonnyb> OK if we load the whole article with the first request. We will have 1.6 Mo regarless to 1.5 easy to do. and just change the hidden attribute with the js line when we want to change the place
but if as I thought about we have a quite heavy wiki structure we can't do so. We need request the pages and set them in the right place.
They are not very slow, half of Paris have these conditions and it is worse in other French provinces.
I will stay a few month in the center of France and the best speed is 4Mo (practically 2Mo).
[20:41]
jonnybi'm also getting errors like: Base table or view not found: 1146 Table 'tiki_unittests.tiki_quicktags' doesn't exist (we killed quicktags versions ago) [20:43]
lphuberdeauthat is strange
got any svn locks?
I'm a bit surprised there were even tests around quicktags
[20:44]
jonnybno, svn st all clear
bizarre - just grepped for tiki_quicktags and it's only in the old sql upgrade files (pre-v 3) and a few installer/schema files
