Dominic_: Hi there.
coaboa: hi
Dominic_: Hi coaboa.
Is this a place I can ask support questions?
coaboa: thats the place ;-)
Dominic_: Great. I've got a (probably) silly question.
I have enabled User Notepads on a wiki I've set up for fiction writers.
So, they can copy people's work to their notepads and make comments in their own time.
(Because giving detailed feedback can take a long time!)
But -- when something from the wiki is saved to the Notepad, it displays as the "sanitised" text: &, &38, " ... things like that.
I really don't want it to!
:D
coaboa: looks like a parser bug. Which version do you use?
Dominic_: 6.2 -- just installed it yesterday.
coaboa: ok there is 6.3 out I think. you ma file a bug report if this problem persists using 6.3. I'll test with my installs. just a mom
Dominic_: thanks.
***: Trebly has joined #tikiwiki
coaboa: so in trunk (version 8. it seem's ok
Dominic_: Okay - many thanks. I'll figure out how to install 6.3 and see what happens.
coaboa: 7.0 b1 it is also ok.
Dominic_: and finaly in 6.3 it works for me. let me know if it works for you too.
Dominic_: btw I'am working on a fictional authoring site too. poiesipedia.com ;-)
Dominic_: Ha! :D excellent. :)
I wonder if I've messed up with one of the setting features. I tried the wysiwig editor and it seemed to lose text very easily.
coaboa: wysiwig is kind of "incomplete"in 6 & 7. So especially this will become much better in 8.

Nils^: hello. I'm searching the docs to create a menu like the horizontal main menu on tiki wikis home page
but... where?
Trebly: Hi, everybody : Who is aware of Google API Key's. I generate from "http://code.google.com/intl/fr/apis/loader/signup.html" a key, but I get a warning window "you need "another" key for this site and sends to the same google URL which don"t give any information about any failure. It is an organized deadlock on a situation without any information about the reason of the "other" key and the...
...mean to get it neither by tiki nor by Google.
This site is a local site for my developments that I access by DynDNS, I make my own hosting to easily develop and debug.
coaboa: Nils: which version are you using?
***: Caarrie is now known as Caarrie|away
Nils^: coaboa: 6.3
I installed yesterday
coaboa: mom
Nils^: ah, maybe Look and Feel. I always searched the menus
coaboa: Nils: admin :: Look & Feel :: General Layout options :: check "Top Bar" and Site menu bar
Nils^: coaboa: thank you. as always I just found the answer in the moment when irc help was on its way :)
coaboa: you have to create a menu first if you don't want to use "42"
better this way ;-)
have fun
Nils^: I will. I'm replacing denemo.org (mediawiki) with a tikiwiki right now. Much better system for community work
coaboa: cool
Nils^: I had to deactivate the mediawiki user registratrion because we were under heavy attack of human spam
don't know if there is anything against this kind of spam
coaboa: feel free to file a feature request if the tiki options (chalange respons, admin approval, captcha etc.) are not sufficient.
Nils^: if I know anything against this I will file a feature request. The tricky part is that these are not machines but normal humans that register as humans and the violate you page with search engine spam
wordfilters maybe
Dominic_: Just wondering ... does the inline comment work in 6.3? (I'm afraid I've not upgraded yet; need to figure out how to do that! ) Inline comments would be wonderful.

luciash: hmm, "godson", new term for me :-p
jonnyb: Trebly: something to do with dyndns i guess? (never used it)
luciash: Trebly: no idea, i received it already included in the Google Adsense code from a friend of mine, pasted the whole piece of code in custom HTML head area and it works...
Trebly: <jonnyb> Hi, crossed message and answers, for information, the other day the pb of no-action in tiki-admin was xajax (I get the loading which stops without doing anything) may be coming from the local firefox on my portablre which is often overloadedà
Follow on google key...
coaboa: Dominic_: tiki 6 should support inline comments but I could not get it to work.
hi jonny, luciash & trebly.
Trebly: <lucisah> <jonnyb> I have already done successfully, one or two year ago.
I have not found any element of information about any restriction.
The problem has two levels :
1- immmediate local : be successful with my test
jonnyb: hi coaboa
Trebly: 2- As the message sent by tiki sends back to the same url and as there is no information on this url about failures and what to do. It is a deadlock for the user. So after finbdind the solution this message should be changed.
May be the key asked in tiki-admin must be a key associated to a signature ? (then the user will have to get the whole deleoper signature and autentication, heavy and not the aim in tiki-admin
luciash: hi coaboa
inline comments are supported via wiki plugin or you mean comment which is not visible in the rendered page code ?
jonnyb: Trebly: are you talking about the google maps api?
Trebly: <jonnyb> Yes
jonnyb: but http://code.google.com/intl/fr/apis/loader/signup.html looks like it's the key for google search, are you sure that's the same as for maps?
try http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html maybe?
coaboa: luciash: an inline comment should be simmilar to a commetnat the end but appears nearby the commented text passage. NEver used it but is decribed at http://doc.tiki.org/Inline+Comments Tried at 6.3 but not sure how it should work.
luciash: coaboa: ah, never seen that
Trebly: <jonnyb> OK, sorry to disturb, I made an error of line in my bookmarks... and don't take care. Have a good day, I must go out now.
jonnyb: no probs, bye
luciash: coaboa: but it says "It hasn't actually been implemented yet!"
coaboa: in the Limitations ;)
coaboa: ui. lol rofl ;-)
luciash: dunno why it is in official docs then
coaboa: missed that one, as I truly did not expect it ;-) Funny.
Dominic_: so inline comments are in docs but not available yet. sorry.

in read more, select a snippet of text
in read mode, select a snippet of text
you will see a "comment" button appear

Nils^: hi I'm on 6.3 and using the http://doc.tiki.org/PluginFade plugin. Is there any chance that the initial link can be something else as pure text? I want nice download buttons and hide the information until you click on "Download for Windows" or "Download for Linux"
***: lphuberdeau has left
luciash: Nils^: the plugin doesn't support it itself, but you could do that using custom jQuery code
Nils^: luciash: it does not have to be this plugin.
I see a [+] sometimes in the official tikiwiki docs that trigger a different javascript action. I have not yet found what this is
luciash: Nils^: the jQuery code could be $("a[href*=wpfade]").html('<img src="your_nice_dl_button_image.png" />');
Nils^: luciash: where do I put that?
luciash: Nils^: this will replace all the fade plugin links text with the html specified
Nils^: is it only for one page or many ?
Nils^: luciash: one page is better than none
luciash: then put it on the page inside JQ plugin
{JQ()}...{JQ}
to test
Nils^: this places a link to http://doc.tiki.org/PluginFade(external link) on my page
no... lol
sorry
nonsense
***: marclaporte has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
Nils^: luciash: do I understand it right that I have one image for all links on that page then?
luciash: all links with href attribute containing the string "wpfade"
Nils^: so I can't specify which image for which link?
besides that it works.
luciash: which is true for the fade plugin as it has <a href="javascript:toggle('wpfade-1')">Bla bla</a> generated
you can
you see ech fade plugin has it's own id
the first one has wpfade-1
etc.
Nils^: yes
luciash: so just use $("a[href*='wpfade-1']") etc. as the selector
Nils^: ah ok
simple as that
luciash: but pls note, it will match wpfade-11 too
Nils^: ok
luciash: in case u use more than 9 on one page ;)
Nils^: I doubt I will reach this limit.
luciash: for more tricks see
