i am doing a new install of tiki for localhost on my netbook. been using 6.3 in the past. would it be in my best interests to install the latest 8.x (i believe) version? i mainly use the tracker functions to store data and upload it periodically to the net. thanx
sorry 7.x

Good morning
Yesterday I experienced something weird; pictures in the filegallery has stopped working with Firefox.
yet if I use IE, they show up fine and dandy
hey guys.. trying to add the module last_category_objects to a wiki page.. but i receive an error saying that the module does not exist?
Hi guys. I want to write some custom PHP and be able to add it to a wiki-page. Where can I find documentation on that?
stix, afaik the only way to do that is to either develop your own plugin/module or edit the module/plugin that does most of what you need
stix, http://dev.tiki.org/Hello+World <- this has some examples.
Merbster, okay then develop my own plugin/module is the way to go.
great thank you :)
stix, I am currently developling custom functionality with php, and I do it trhough a module. strengths are you can mix it with the other Wiki-markup features .
well actually a plugin... :P
plugin - okay
I'll go through the Hello World article
can I ask, what IDEs does people use for PHP?

hi jonnyb - .. not sure it is the right way - but seems to be in
is this to fix the mediawiki importer? cos it didn't work on real wikipedia pages last time i tried it...
it doesn not fix the seg faut I have when parsing table .. but at least I can complain to the pear team now ;-)
good luck!
jonnyb, are changes committed to tiki 7 merged to trunk? (a basic question, I know.) I'm thinking about css fixes or similar small details.
I'm never sure whether the changes should be committed to trunk also.
hi chibaguy
basically - yes
up until release of 7.1 anyway
so for example the little fix r35030 i did in 7.x should also now be in trunk due to the merge i did in r35031
i see, thanks.
that should all be on dev.t.o - "where to commit" or something like that
anyone have an idea of when/if 6.4 release? iirc, there's a bunch of stuff in 6.x proposals branch?
i was thinking maybe during or after the Strasbourg fest
excellent

I wonder why a calendar monthly view would show 10 weeks instead of 4.
My localhost installation is ok, but an installation on a hosted server (using tiki 7 svn files) is pretty messed up re the calendar.
perhaps the calendar lib used on this system
how do I enter a [xxx] in wysiwyg - it is always interpreting that as a link
sylvieg, I replaced the calendar lib but no improvement. For now I'll just have to list events manually in a wiki page I guess, at that site.
Even the calendar module displays in a strange way.
do you have error like missing lib/date???
New Forum Posts: Forum's permissions - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=41630
sylvieg, no, just a couple notices "Undefined index: page"
lib/calendar/ files seem to be current.
.. I was thinking about the date lib in the system / in php
ah
I have other Tiki installations on the same server. I'll check their calendars.
Hm, others are normal.
tikiwiki: 03jonnybradley * r35041 10/trunk/lib/core/Tracker/Field/Image.php: [FIX] tracker images: Pass constructor params on to parent
chibaguy: strange neans you see 4 month for a month view for example?
hey guys, im having an issue with 7.0 and pretty trackers
i cant get the showlinks param to work
i guess thats not pretty trackers, it's trackerlist, but anyhow
overseer: not sure but, perhaps you did not check the checkbox Column links to edit/view item? for each field?
i did. It works in 6.3, ,but not in 7.0
pretty tracker do not care about showlinks param
ok, so how do i make a link with pretty trackers?
I suppose manually ....or something like this
[item{$itemId}] in wiki syntax
humm - perhaps I am wrong
in 6 the showlinks was working
maybe the question is about trackerlist, not pretty trackers
but anyway I have no problem in 7 for showlinks
sylvieg: your idea with the tag worked
nkoth: mine definitely is not working
here's what i got: {TRACKERLIST(trackerId="7", wiki="tpl:Wiki Task List-hwr", showlinks=y, filterfield=66, filtervalue=Normal,)/}
overseer: for pretty trackers even in 6 I never used showlinks to generate links per se, always did it manually so... I suppose I never missed it
ok
tikiwiki: 03jonnybradley * r35042 10/trunk/templates/tiki-view_tracker_item.tpl: [FIX] trackers: Restore comments tab name (lost in r34753)
it might be worth making a bug for it, because some people might miss it. I have a work-around, so I don't mind now
i think the showlinks works *only* for the native TRACKERLIST output. if you're using pretty tracker you need to create your own links
ok
sylvieg: that actually didnt work for me.
sylvieg: is it supposed to be 'hre'=? or 'href'=?
href... proper html of course :)
ok, and then what to i make it link to?
it depends on what you want.
i want to link to the item page for the tracker
If you have sefurl on, the default item's page is "item{$itemId}"
if you have a custom wiki page then it could be different
how do you turn on sefurl? and what is sefurl?
and, if you're using wiki syntax, you don't need "href" at all. simply [item{$itemId}]
nvm, got what it means
@overseer: see docs: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/pretty+tracker for details on working with pretty trackers, links, sefurl, etc
im not using wiki syntax
oh. thought you were using a wiki page as your template. my mistake
i am, but im using html tags with it
sylvieg, sorry, was walking dog. Not as many as 4 months. Only 10 weeks. First of all, going to tiki-calendar.php shows May instead of the current month, then it shows from Apr 28 until July 6.
Going forward a month to June, it shows from 05/27 until 08/11. That's 11 weeks total.
check the timezone param in ???
perhaps your server is in another timezoen thatn your browser
is there a list somewhere of all the tracker variables?
Yes, I set the server for the Hawaii time zone because the events will be there, and to use that time, not the visitor's system time.
(sylvieg ^^)
chibaguy: so try to play with the timezone setting
Yes, I'll try that. I can understand how time zones might cause an offset, etc. but don't know why it would cause a different number of weeks to display etc.
Unless there is some bug. I'll experiment.
I have no idea.. just trying to have a good idea...
Sure, thanks.
Yay, calendar is fixed (I don't know how. I changed the prefs back and forth and now it seems ok. :-) )
Software equivalent of whacking it with a hammer, maybe.

so, i still havent solved my tracker link issue. I don't want to use sefurl
i need to know what to put in my href so that it will work. I tried using the full url, but with the {$itemId} variable
Greetings
hi wetchicken
hi
overseer: the full url with [$f_itemId} should work
sorry, it's {$f_itemId} not {$itemId}...
oh, ok

nkoth: success! where can I find those variables? do you just know them?

i see now :)
any other useful ones?
I am looking for an event organizer based around a single calendar. Each event will have it's own organizer and 'guests', and I would prefer a rating system for users which ony the organizers give ratings for the guests. I found phpbeer that works with the tiki software, so I would like to know if these will do what I need, and if not who might have a suggestion.
lastModif - i just added it
hello all!
hello
im a fresh newb to TikiWiki and im lovin it so far, but im running into a little prob...and im sure its something simple
got it installed and got a templated profile up, but when i go to create a new Wiki or edit one that came with the profile all i get is a blank page
Ichi-Keynon: completely blank page? That's strange. Perhaps you can turn on error reporting in Admin..>General and see if there is an error
k...ill check
WetChicken: I am not very familiar with php beer, but let
but I think you can't rate calendar items directly. But I suppose you could link the calendar to either a wiki page or article and rate those.
Or you could try the tracker calendar feature but that is more advanced
ahhh...error reporting picked this up:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 18874368 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 19456 bytes) in /hermes/bosweb/web258/b2581/sl.xxxxxxx/public_html/kb/tikiwiki/lib/wiki-plugins/wikiplugin_trade.php on line 50
database error maybe...not too sure
im gonna have to go back and doublecheck my SQL
Ichi-Keynon: what is your php memory limit setting? try increasing that. Other possibility is that there is something wring with the wikiplugin_trade
but that allowed memory size seems pretty small
128MB is recommended
this is all done through an automated hosting provider...not my webserver unfortunately...ill go look
thx
if you have control over what goes into php.ini, check in there
cool...ill look...this community rocks...thx!!!
nkoth, I actually wish to rate the guests, which the ratings are issued by the organizers. i.e. how reliable and competent they are at the physical event
nkoth that's actually on the wish list so the whole idea is more important right now lol
WetChicken: oh I see... you can do it, but it will be pretty advanced tracker stuff then, involving multiple trackers, but if you go that way then the tracker becomes the calendar and you are not really using the calendar feature, but this instead: http://doc.tiki.org/plugintrackerlist#Tracker_as_calendar
Are you doing this yourself? This is interesting to me because I have a site where people sign up for events etc...
sry to bother again...but this is what i see under phpMyAdmin console:
MyISAM
Default engine as of MySQL 3.23 with great performance
MyISAM is the default storage engine on this MySQL server.
Data pointer size 6 Bytes
Automatic recovery mode OFF
Maximum size for temporary sort files 8,192 PB
Repair threads 1
Sort buffer size 65,536 KB
myisam_stats_method nulls_unequal
delay_key_write ON
the issue is probaly not phpmyadmin
bulk_insert_buffer_size 8,192 KB
skip_external_locking ON
or database
but php
php.ini is what you should be looking to edit
ohh...in the TikiWiki install???
but wait,
mysql 3.23 is really old
that would make since....crap...my provider sux
who is your provider?
StartLogic
hmmmm...but in the Server Control Panel i see the php and sql versions as 5.x
ok that's good
see if you can edit php.ini
k
nkoth Yes, I am doing it for a ham radio application.
WetChicken: you should check out the trackers feature anyway - it's kind of a swiss-army knife type thing
nkoth looks like I will need some extended time to read/learn about it. It goes on the wish list. =]
TY for your help
LOL like a dumbass I killed admin priveleges for the admin account..... before I made my user
finally found a Web GUI where i can view\edit php.ini and this is what im seeing...its a little weird, but this is the default setup:
Resource Limits ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
max_execution_time = 300 ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds
max_input_time = 60 ; Maximum amount of time each script may spend parsing request data
memory_limit = 18M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (8MB)
Ichi-Keynon: change memory_limit, also review http://doc.tiki.org/Requirements#PHP
k...i hope my provider lets me...LOL
super thx...i think i understand now!
nkoth do you know where in the db the user levels are stored? =/
WetChicken, not sure what you mean by levels. Do you mean http://doc.tiki.org/Groups?
checking....
global....categories.....object..... I feel like I am sitting in a windows permissions class lol
nkoth, not really. What I am looking to do is hack the database to give admin his admin priveleges back....
how did admin lose admin privileges? lol
nkoth I am comfortable and familiar doing this, I am just no sure where the setting is
ummm, fat fingers. =]
sweet...cranked it up to 32M as per the link u provided...and now im getting the edit page...thx to u again WetChicken!!!!!
WetChicken there are a bunch of tables prefixed Users_
I did find that
ohhh whoops...i meant to say thx again nkoth...got yall mixed up!!!...lol
cya
nkoth I ran out of ideas to try and where to find clues... so I nuked it and reinstalled. Good thing it was a fresh install lol. Thanks for you time
for the pretty tracker variables, is there one that displays the number of comments?
eg: {$f_comments}, but that doesnt work
no f_comments as far as i know

hi chealer
hi jonnyb
jonnyb: "Use function that exists"... that's a clever fix!
:P
so much broken in trunk - wasn't looking for a few weeks!
chealer: url's with accents in are ok aren't they? like http://tiki.org/TikiFestQuébec7
seems to work mostly, but the new zend stuff in tikilib->get_http_client() seems to blow up on it
jonnyb: they should be OK
jonnyb: what kind of explosion?
uncaught exception
it seems to be trying to load every url in a tracker (!!)
jonnyb: in trunk or what?
trunk
more LP stuff... :(
jonnyb: so what URL for example?
http://tiki.org/TikiFestQuébec7
zend thinks it isn't valid
and the exception trapping isn't working
jonnyb: you see a problem on that page?
no - if you have that in a url field in a tracker (it's local)
ooh
jonnyb: I'd rather not get involved in tracker internals at this point. (sorry)
odd - the offending code seems to be from last year... (but it's ok in 7.x)
me too! :)
tikiwiki: 03jonnybradley * r35045 10/trunk/lib/tikilib.php: [FIX] external urls: Take away accents on url passed to Zend_Http_Client as it now seems to throw an exception here that isn't caught for some reason - curious...
