Ajith: Hello friends, I'm trying to upgrade from Tiki4.1 to Tiki6.6 LTS. I seem to have some issues with the upgrade. First of all, I was trying to copy my existing mysql database to a new one and apply the upgrade on the new one (so that my existing site is not affected by this). Is there anything wrong with this idea?

hi everyone, is any developer around?
ricks99: what's your question?
plugz: I would like to hide the "| Logout" from the user taskbar
but i can't find where it is coded
ricks99: do you mean the login module?
you can delete modules from the admin: modules page
plugz: not the module
just the "Logout" link
because (as I've mentioned on the mailing list)
i've managed to get the authentication via "Web Server" working
but when users click the "Logout" button nothing happens, it doesn't serve any purpose in this scenario
ricks99: you can edit the module's template
and manually remove the link
or simply hide the entire module with some css: {display:none} when logged in
or remove the module completely. and use a simple menu link to tiki-login.php
lots of ways
plugz: cool
if i hide the entire module, will the username be visible then?
ricks99: no
plugz: ok, i'll try the first way then
where can i find the modules template?
in the directory?
ricks99: all templates are in the templates directory.
you can use the "show tpl" option to find specific templates' usage

hi Hammer
Hammer: I am using the Theme: Tikinewt
but cannot get to manage the font
lol
i am editing that .css manaually
but the toc is so small
maketoc font
where can i change that in .css
?
ricks99: Hammer: better to use your own custom css than to edit the default css -- makes upgrades much harder
if you use something like firebug (for ff) or dev tools (for IE) you can determine which css style to edit
In tiki 8.x+ there's also the CSS assistant you can use
Hammer: you might find my primer userful: http://twessentials.tikiforsmarties.com/Customizing+Tiki+Themes

Hammer: i will look into that
i was wondering what maketoc use :) ?
ricks99: Hammer: IIRC, it uses #toc. but again, you can easily determine by using a browser plugin or Tiki's CSS assitant
Hammer: sure
I will do that
Thank you Rick
ricks99: you are welcome
plugz: i'm looking in the templates dir at the tiki-login.tpl
seems thats it :)
ricks99: plugz: you might find this useful: http://twessentials.tikiforsmarties.com/Modifying+Templates explains how to find the right template
plugz: another thing.. unrelated to this
if we want to make documents (for documentation purposes) out of tiki pages
is there a reasonably easy way to do it?
some friends showed me some features in xwiki for this, but i've never been able to find a way in tiki
ricks99: you can use wiki pages
plugz: i remember once reading a forum post where someone said that should be in the browser, to generate for an example pdf's out of wiki pages?

Hammer: the assisantant
but for some reason it wont change anything

i get the selector
but nothing happen
plugz: yah, got it
ricks99: did you save the customizations to the custom css field?
plugz: thanks for the hints guys

Hammer: yes
Jyhem: plugz: if you edit templates, remember to flush all caches or it will probably seem to not do anything
ricks99: did yo clear the tiki cache
Hammer: umm no

:)
Jyhem: well, let's hope he figures it out :-)
RobertPlummer: I now have an easy way of building custom interfaces for trackers!
Woohoo!
CIA-36: tikiwiki: 03robertplummer * r40429 10/trunk/lib/ (3 files in 3 dirs): [ENH] Added a custom way of creating interfaces for editing trackers and used it in forwardlink protocol
Jyhem_laptop: http://demo.tiki.org/trunk/tiki-view_tracker.php?trackerId=6 displays: Tracker Field Factory Error: Pref "trackerfield_currency" required for field type "Tracker_Field_Currency"
RobertPlummer: Jyhem_laptop: Have you cleared cache?
Jyhem_laptop: What currency is it?
jonnyb: You around?
jonnyb: here :)
how's things?
Jyhem_laptop: It's not just trackerId=6 , I saw it with 5,4,...
RobertPlummer: jonnyb: Remember in tracker query how you can do this:
Tracker_Query::tracker('Wiki Attributes')
->byName()
->itemId((int)$_REQUEST['itemId'])
->query();
That returns a simple array like this tracker(items(fields()))
now you can do this:
Tracker_Query::tracker('Wiki Attributes')
->byName()
->itemId((int)$_REQUEST['itemId'])
->queryInputs();
And it returns the inputs for a given item, so that they can be used in a custom interface.
jonnyb: no sorry, not used them really
RobertPlummer: So say you want a table representation of a tracker, like a spreadsheet view...
Tracker_Query::tracker('Wiki Attributes')
->byName()
->queryInputs();
And it'll give you ALL of the items in the tracker (you can use paging too, it is built in).
This provides the fully rendered input that you get when you edit trackers on tiki-view_tracker_item.php, just in an abastract form that can be used anywhere.
Anyway, i thought I'd share, been working about a week on it, and finally cracked it.
jonnyb: i'll get into it one day... promise! :)
RobertPlummer: jonnyb: Before I started working on Invoice, there wasen't anything like this, and I got to the point where I couldn't go any further without it, so what does this give us? The ability to create tiki apps very easily.
jonnyb: shame it wasn't around 3 months ago for this big shopping site - i'm using unified search stuff (which does break sometimes)
RobertPlummer: Yea, I think speed may be a factory there, but it won't get faster till we migrate to it in other parts of tiki.
Lets get some of that data and play with it!
Jyhem: RobertPlummer: I think the right place for this info would be a page in dev.tiki.org (with a simple working example)
jonnyb: uni-search is pretty quick - a couple of seconds usually to find a few pages out of 12,000 items
unless you need to search by date, then it really falls down :(
RobertPlummer: I can understand trackers, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't have to be so complex. Ever time i open a tracker page its 500-1000 lines long of permissions checks, reopening of an already queried tracker. I wrote tracker query because of first wanting to just get info from a tracker, but now, it is an api for apps.
Any feature (not whole app, but feature mind you) that needs more than 5k+ lines of code should seriously be rethought out.
And tracker I think uses probably 10k+ (I've not counted just estimating).
Hammer: when using firebug
how can I save
ouppps ignore
lol
firebug is just a way to show me where to change in the css
file
RobertPlummer: Hammer: ignore what?
Hammer: i thought i would make the changes
RobertPlummer: css?
There is a check by the css setting, set it to un-tick.
ricks99: no. firebug can be used to find which css to change
Hammer: yes
but it does change them
is there as way to connect it
to FTP
to upload right away
?
ricks99: Hammer: if you are chaning the css styles, i suggest using the custom css area on the Look & feel page
Hammer: i would prefer
changing them right away
on the .css file
that's what i am doing now
not a majot cvhange though
i am doing just fonts
ricks99: changing the css file makes upgrades much more difficult
Hammer: umm
so best way ?
ricks99: use the admin look & feel page
Hammer: but the changes i wanna make mostlt likley in lie.css
lite.css
and my current theme tikinewt
tikinewt import from lite.css
ricks99: if you put the changes in the admin look & feel page, they will cascade on top. see docs for details
Hammer: let's say i wanna change this in lite.css html>body { font-size: 0.75em;}
tp 8.85em
i just add this under custom css
?
ricks99: y.
be sure to clear cache
Hammer: how the custom css would know i am changing this in lite.css ?
maybe i am lost
ricks99: css styles "cascade"
the last entry wins

one more question
when i apply the code
should i remove it from custom css
because it is already set
or leave
?
ricks99: sorry, don't understand your question

u know i just added html>body { font-size: 0.75em;}
and i hit apply
now i wanna add something else
should i remove html>body { font-size: 0.75em;} from the code
?
in custom css box
?
ricks99: yes, you can edit/update the custom css, as needed
Hammer: when i change it
it works on firefox
not IE
:)
i cleared the cache
ricks99: did you clear the browser's cache, too?
Hammer: yes
ricks99: not sure. try closing the browser and re-opening
Hammer: no luck
