The prefs parameters are memorized into the PHPSESSID and loaded by default from the cookie when a session is started, the fact that the values have been changed on server is not seen. I imagine that the cause is that the user had still an active connection, forgotten into another windows. In such case the session is not closed and the prefs changes made by an admin during a user session are... ...not taken in account. Sorry for the length.
