I did read the irc log from yesterday...
and regarding changi's answer ... http://irc.tiki.org/irclogger_log/tikiwiki?date=2012-06-26,Tue&sel=565#l561 ...
I'd like to add that as far as I know, you can use web folders (webdav protocol) to upload files from the wiki pages (through file upload to webdav enabled file galleries)...
... and later on, access the same file galleries through some webdav powered file manager, adn see the human-readable file names instead of the hashes (as I understood that changi meant)
so as far as I understand your issue, you should be able to set up what you need with webdav folders in file galleries...
however, you should test before hand that the webdav powered client app of your users (denepending in your clients/users os and preferences, etc) works well enough with the webdav implementation we have in tiki
read (and test what it's explailned) this: https://doc.tiki.org/WebDav

xaviah ok,... [12:10]
jonnybik - img plugin gets messed about with on a regular basis - it's was too complex [12:10]
xaviok [12:10]
jonnybah, when you add desc it surrounds it all in a div, so you need to centre the div (or the thing that contains it) [12:11]
xaviok, so no easy fix, then? (example in images here http://ueb.vhir.org/blogpost6 ) [12:11]
jonnybmaybe the old ::wiki syntax:: way will do it? [12:11]
xavimmm, afair, ::foo:: doesn't fix it, but {CENTER()}foo{CENTER} does
I 've usually been doing this for months...
but I thought about reporting , just in case there was an easy fix for anyone (newcomers to Tiki, etc)
I was to ask ricks99 when he logs in...
[12:12]
jonnybthere's probably a class you could apply to the containing div [12:13]
xaviok, don't worry, I'll ask Rick when he is on [12:13]
jonnybthe thing is that imalign uses the align attribute on the <img> tag, and an image plus a description is not just an image [12:14]
xavishall I ask you for a tiny fix in the article generator from rss feeds? (that ricks can't probably fix)
articles generated loose the link from the external source...
since that link was in the title, it seems...
[12:14]
jonnybmaybe later [12:15]
xaviand tiki replaces that link for the link to the full version of the article... even if the full version doesn't contain anything else than the few lines from the ress, already shown in the heading...

What type of site?
[21:36]

marclaporteDo you code too? [21:54]
Dwokfurmarclaporte: there are two blogs on it in incative state. Most important is that there are two information pages in English and Hungarian for referring physicians and patients [21:54]
marclaporteI met a surgeon once in Montreal who was also a PHP coder :-) [21:54]
Dwokfurmarclaporte: I have a basic knowledge of Assembly, I mainly code in C [21:54]
marclaportehehe [21:55]
Dwokfurmarclaporte: I also know C++, but I'm not a true OOP guy. I had some contributions in PHP for other projects
marclaporte: we used a php scheduling system, it was running on my site and I modified the code for our needs
marclaporte: but there were some new law requirements for which I should have rewritten the code nearly completely
marclaporte: I didn't have enough time for that - I'm primarily not a coder
marclaporte: I have an identical twinbrother, who is a developer - finished the Budapest Techical Universtiy
marclaporte: some blog entries of him can be found at: https://atoth.sote.hu/tikiwiki
marclaporte: originally I chose tikiwiki because of the personal file handling features - especially for quota. I knew I'll only use only a small part of the feature set. I also didn't put too much effort into the design.

Dwokfurmarclaporte: there were some times tikwiki meant real help for me - once I was working at a large company as a web developer in a part-time job. I think it's one of the largest if not the largest. There was a very strict firewall. I used tikiwiki to transfer some important files a couple of times. It was priceless.
marclaporte: I'm definitely not a Con Kolivas. However I do some coding in C in proprietary software environments, including some pseudo-OOP fetures
[22:01]
marclaporteDwokfur: have you ever met someone from the Tiki community? [22:04]
Dwokfurmarclaporte: I'm socially really bad. Spend ~16 hours a day at my workplace. Once I remember there was an event in Budapest, but I couldn't make it.
marclaporte: I don't know if there are fests in Hungary - it would be interesting

lorinci was considering to offer a migration to tikiwiki on www.kardio.hu too, but i guess its complicated ;) [23:18]
Dwokfurlorinc: the IT guys are totally linux-aware at GOKI. They run some Debian-based distribution firewall. There are rigorous requirements. They are propagating the use of open/libreoffice, too. I think they have their own connections. The site has been done by http://whynot.hu/
lorinc: one should rather migrate all dokinet (www.mkardio.hu, www.socrad.hu) sites away from the current ASP-NET based system. Guys behind dokinet supplies many medical societies. I also get sick of radiologia.hu's web motor. It cannot even handle logged in user action properly. But the connections are also tight here, too.
[23:20]
lorincDwokfur: let them decide, its their system and they know for sure why they choose those partners, i dont know what kind of visitor traffic these sites handle, but i guess one proper system could serve them all at fractions of the maintenance cost
just consider how many people are involved in the maintenance of each of those separate servers
Dwokfur: consider also the knowledge-management/content workflows involved, and how many people could or would want to contribute
[23:24]
Dwokfurlorinc: radiologia.hu is for radiologists, dokinet sites houses the Hungarian Society of Cardiologists and Radiologists' sites
lorinc: it means all cardiologists and radiologists are visiting those two sites
lorinc: dokinet should definitely have a single engine under it - though it is proprietary
[23:26]
lorincjust type in dokinet.hu it gives some weird error atm.
www. works
Dwokfur: i guess each of these sites could be migrated to a tikiwiki and hosted on one properly configured server
its all a question of editor/user training, the onetime migration could be scripted for each of the engines
[23:30]
Dwokfurlorinc: there are tight and deep industrial connections behind in the background - it's highly unlikely that the engines would change [23:33]
lorincDwokfur: ;) [23:34]
