also: is there some way to group calendars? like cal1-7 belongs to group1 and cal8 to group2 or something like that? one group would be for "machine reservation" and one for social events | [01:20] |

I plan to make a nice contacts db of all registered users | [10:34]
..... (idle for 24mn) | ||
I want to have several additional fields to the standard ones and I would like to present it in some nice way
originally I planned to use a registration tracker, but you cannot register if ldap authentication is used (the user is "already" registered kind of) | [10:58]
lorinc | joined #tikiwiki | [10:59] |
g0th | so my idea was to link the user to some tracker input page (his standard homepage) until he filled out all required fields and then link him to some other homepage, that's my first issue: how todo this?
second one: how do I list all (or individual) tracker information together with already existing user information in some nice table? is there a template/documentation/plugin/profile for that? in general: how do I make one page display until a certain criteria is met and then display another page, in particular for the group homepage | [11:00] |

another question ... and I do not know if it would be a providers issue or a Tiki issue: a website was moved from one provider account to another account at the same provider website works, all links seem to be ok I copied the website and did set it up as subdomain (to check the upgrade first) I made the upgrade from Tiki 6.4 to tiki 9 SVN | [13:43] |
RobertPlummer | Have we found a possible project that could be integrated that guards against spam guys? | [13:45] |

RobertPlummer: will setup some questions for registrations to be more sure about the regs RobertPlummer: asap back to my problem: | [13:46] |

fabricius | but when I type in just the domain without any page (example.com instead of example,com/some+known+page) I am directed to a folder in the old account
what this might be? | [13:48] |
RobertPlummer | Drupal I don't think has a very good spam blocker, but I seem to remember that I've never seen it to bad with wordpress.
http://mashable.com/2008/02/10/fighting-spam-wordpress/ | [13:49] |
fabricius | RobertPlummer: the problem at the moment is less the spam itself, but the registration ... they now do not use certain particular domains of their own, but they use webmail-accounts (hotmail.com actually) which you cannot identify first hand, without locking out non-spammers or non-robots | [13:51] |
jjg0th | changi: I tried webdav but it didn't work, I'm using windows 7 at the moment, I tried several different things | [13:51] |

I understand you talking about SPAM content somehow delivered to our websites but I am talking about registrations | [13:57] |
RobertPlummer | fabricius: http://bad-behavior.ioerror.us/about/ is compatible with our licensing.
fabricius: If analysis is of the ip and headers, I feel this may be an affective strategy in preventing spam registrations and not just content. | [13:58] |
fabricius | simply: is there a way to detect or even better autosetect if a registration comes from a spammer or from a decent person
so you think with bad-behaviour it would be possible? | [13:59] |
RobertPlummer | bad behavior uses track back technology, which I believe is what you speak of.
Perhaps an interview with the developer would be in line? (or we could simply try it) | [13:59] |

RobertPlummer and jonnyb and who is interested: How can I explain a customer, why I do not wnt to install a Tiki into the Tiki-root directory of another Tiki installation?
on his hostgator account there is one Tikisite setup with the primary domain, which only can be pointed into the over-all-web-root thus all other websites would be installed in the root of the first Tiki installation he does not understand, why I want him either use a subdomain for the first site or order another domain as primary domain to have the first one avalable as add-on and move the installation to a subfolder of the over-all-web-root it technically would work - even with svn - but it would be a mess ... I thought I clicked on remove "Guest" or "Registered" but what happened was that the admin lost the admin group, so maybe I clicked on the wrong spot, or it automatically removed admin because admin inherits from guest/etc...
anyway, fortunately with phpmyadmin it was rather easy to correct that | [21:36] |
jonnyb | hmm, thanks g0th - it shouldn't really let you do that, should it | [21:38] |
g0th | I thought so too, was too careless | [21:38] |
jonnyb | i'll check, thanks! | [21:39] |
g0th | maybe it was because admin inherits and I remove on of the lower groups
maybe directly it doesnt work but indirectly it does or something like that jonnyb: maybe you can help me, I use ldap auth. and selected tiki auth for users created by tiki. So I created a guest user, logged in with it no problem, logged out and tried to login again but now it doesn't work anymore?! :( in the mysql database there was no password stored (I checked and there was no hash) | [21:39] |
jonnyb | i doubt you can mix tiki auth users with ldap users - don't know, never used ldap i'm afraid | [21:44] |
g0th | well it worked once
and it works for the admin and according to the options there it is supposed to work | [21:45] |
jonnyb | admin is probably special | [21:45] |
g0th | another issue: wysiwyg vs. wiki syntax switching is extremely buggy
is there some way to make it work? i.e. if I switch the edit mode it will change the page :( I applied the wysiwyg profile 6.something, it said I had to get rid of an error message for calendars maybe that messed stuff u up | [21:46] |
jonnyb | error message for calendars? not seen that bit
the syntax switching can be tricky (if you're not using the "Use Wiki syntax in WYSIWYG" feature) because some html stuff you can do in wysiwyg cannot be reproduced in wiki syntax | [21:48] |
g0th | so I should enable wiki syntax in wysiwyg?
nice, thx for the hint | [21:53] |
jonnyb | if you need to switch between the two editors a lot, it should be more reliable | [21:56] |
g0th | hmm but it doesnt support editing :( | [21:56] |
jonnyb | you in Tiki 9.x? | [21:56] |
g0th | yes | [21:56] |
jonnyb | how do you mean? | [21:56] |
g0th | according to the highlight text the wysiwyg editor is not supposed to work
only in source mode still not working at all | [21:57] |
jonnyb | odd - plugin edit should work the same | [21:58] |
g0th | my main problem is that it is not possible to create a tiki user
how do I make it possible that guest users can login? I have university users that can login using ldap but I also want to be able to allow an external guest to login :( the only solution I see is to completely drop the support for ldap authentication which is the backbone of my whole site concept | [21:58] |
jonnyb | can you not get the guest user created in ldap? | [22:02] |
g0th | I cannot change ldap stuff
it is from the whole university, ofc I don't have root access to it :) so for collaboration we don't want to wait a day until the eth gives the external guy a guest account hmm, maybe one has to use a name that is not used yet, lemme try hmm, nope | [22:03] |

jonnyb | re ^^ - seemed the best i could do, just added a clearer warning if removing admin from Admins | [22:07] |
g0th | wb :)
what happens when a user logs in resp. logs out? somehow the settings (i.e. db) is changed and the user after this can no longer login | [22:07] |
jonnyb | when it did work (adding a guest tiki user) how about copying the pw hash from the database and adding it back in after it's disappeared? | [22:08] |
g0th | lemme try
but that's no solution, just a test ;) | [22:08] |
that works!
it even remembers it!!! so you just need to get this working from the wiki side oh no, it was the refresh command in mysql I guess that put back the ahsh hash* why was that not written anywhere? That's like the _first_ important thing to write about ldap authentication and the configuration even clearly suggests that it is possible to add your own users :( | [22:13]

g0th | got it!!! | [22:22] |
stgenius | left #tikiwiki | [22:23] |
g0th | it was one of the following options: groupTracker, userTracker, syncUsersWithDirectory, most probably the last one | [22:23] |
..... (idle for 24mn) | ||
(confirmed: syncUsersWithDirectory, makes sense that this has to be deactivated to make tiki users possible) | [22:47]
