wu-leeCan anyone comment on bug #4279 ? Or the bugginess of the Categories feature in general? [00:24]
vmachinejoined #tikiwiki [00:24]
wu-leeI am attempting to replicate what seems like another bug using http://demo.opensourcecms.com/tiki/tiki-edit_categories.php (v8)
I'm having even less success than with my own 9.0 install
can't seem to get it to list any objects to add to a category
at least with an empty "content" field
the bug is that deleted user pages (spam) show up in my install's object browser page
but also, when checked to be added to a category, cause the operation to fail silently
(the (+) link appears to be using ajax)

wu-lee: can you duplicate on demo.tiki.org ?
[01:12]
wu-leejust trying on http://www.softaculous.com/demos/Tiki_Wiki_CMS_Groupware
which is 9.0
[01:14]
marclaporteright, but demo.tiki.org has latest 9.x (which is almost 9.1)
so maybe the bug is fixed
And if it's not, it's easier to debug on demo.tiki.org than on softaculous
[01:15]
wu-leeok - I'll try, didn't find demo.tiki.org listed here: http://info.tiki.org/Demo [01:16]
right, I've created a page "Dummy 1" on http://demo.tiki.org/
And a category "Pending Review"
First usability hurdle I find is, I can't get the "browse objects" page to list any wiki pages
http://demo.tiki.org/9x/tiki-edit_categories.php
(My 9.0 install has a "Type" dropdown, demo.tiki.org doesn't
The potential bug I was investigating: deleted wiki pages are listed
and these can be checked for addition to a category, but make the operation fail silently
ok, so I gather I search for "wiki" to list wiki pages (had me scratching my head for a bit)
Or... maybe not? I'm unsure. I can't see the page I added listed.
Only 10 pages are listed. I see there are many more than that.
That's another usability problem: there's no indication if the 10 items are just the first 10, or everything.
There's also no paging, so no way to access the other N - 10 items
[01:22]
marclaportewu-lee: I added the site to https://info.tiki.org/Demo [01:33]

marclaporteIs 50 configurable?
did you try to change via maxRecords ? tiki-admin.php -> Look & Feel -> Pagination -> Maximum number of records in listings
[01:56]
wu-leemarclaporte: nope, I had no clue it existed
but even if I did, the general problem remains
I set the max to X, I then have problems with Y objects, where Y > X
mainly for my self I'm looking for a way to work around the "categorise everything I have" problem, which maybe this maxRecords will help with, thanks
but for tiki, I'm looking for a bit of sanity checking before I submit yet another bug report
it seems odd that the category feature, which has been around nearly forever, is this obtuse, so I wonder if I'm being obtuse
[02:00]
marclaportehehe
category feature has been around forever, but you are having trouble with the new interface. Try: http://demo.tiki.org/9x/tiki-admin_categories.php?parentId=1
Look at the tabs Objects in category / Moving objects between categories / Add objects to category
[02:07]
vmachinejoined #tikiwiki [02:10]
wu-leethe maxRecords setting doesn't seem to change the number of pages listed.
(in my install, i.e. no cigar for me)
[02:11]
marclaporte"deleted wiki pages are listed" -> this sounds like index is out of date
http://doc.tiki.org/Search+General+Settings -> Click Rebuild Index to rebuild the Tiki-managed search index.
[02:13]
wu-leethanks, try that in a mo
that link http://demo.tiki.org/9x/tiki-admin_categories.php?parentId=1 - seems to get something my install doesn't?
hm, maybe it does - it just doesn't seem to have tabs
and I can't find it by clicking on links - I have to use the URL tiki-admin_categories.php?parentId=1
[02:15]
wu-lee is up past bedtime... [02:22]
luciashpolom [02:23]
wu-leemarclaporte: looks like rebuilding the index worked on a quick look, thanks
however, I am about to fall off my chair with fatigue, must go to bed. byee

hello, I need some help with the linkdirectory
I deleted a category and after that I wanted to add a link, but now get an error message, that this link already exists
it was in the deleted category -_-
[16:51]
ricks99did u clear the tiki cache? [16:55]
ionheadno, i didnt
where can I do this?
[16:56]
ricks99from admin menu. [16:56]
ionheadok, did it. but the link is still shown in the linklist [16:58]
ricks99pls see docs for details: http://doc.tiki.org/System%2BAdmin
did u delete the link or delete the category?
[16:58]
ionheadunfortunately the category -_- [17:00]
ricks99that does not delete the actual link [17:01]
ionheadthat wasn't my intention I just wanted to delete the category but forgot to move the link first [17:02]
ricks99you can edit the link and change its category [17:03]
ionheadno, from the list I can only call the link, but not edit it [17:05]
ricks99use the admin page, you can edit the link's category.
pls see docs: http://doc.tiki.org/Directory&structure=Tiki+Reference+Guide
[17:06]
ionheadok, there should be an option "admin sites" in the menu, but it isn't
I have to figure this out
but thanks for your help, so far :)
[17:14]
ricks99you're using the Tiki Directory feature for your links, right? [17:15]
ionheadyes, I called now the tiki-directory_admin_sites.php directly
that works
I now could edit the link and set a new category
[17:16]
ricks99:) [17:19]
ionheadthank you :D [17:19]
ricks99you're welcome [17:19]
g0thmarclaporte: are you here?
marclaporte: I know you were very interested in binary file indexing. I managed to do it for essentially all ms office files...
general wiki question: is it possible to do word export?
I just tested myself, if I select wiki page output (just with the mouse) and do copy and paste, it already produces quite good results
but ofc it would be even better if one could export using a button
[17:27]
ricks99g0th: did u enable the wiki export feature? [17:31]

gothricks99: yes
ricks99: but that has nothing to do with word, right?
ricks99: I'm not interested in exporting the wiki resp. importing it in some other wiki. I'm more interested in exporting individual pages (and by that I mean just the latest version, not the whole history)
e.g. we want people to fill the wiki with useful information and when those people leave, they would like to take those informations with them. So I'm looking for a way to pass them on to them. The best would be word or excel export but I guess that's not possible.
But at least selecting the page with the mouse and copy&paste seems to give "good enough" import/export...
[18:25]
lphuberdeauPDF export might help you
I don't think there is anything for word
[18:40]
Jyhem_laptopgoth: I've had good results with "print view", then mouse selection and paste into word
same as your idea, but a bit cleaner result
