tikiwiki [ENH] show permissions of /tmp refizul: last night I had an idea about users' accounts takeover protection
depending on the environment sometimes a user has to use http at least temporarily
since the password is exposed and the account could be taken over, a second related account may be an idea, which is used only for resetting the first account
this idea can be extended to a superadmin account, where the password can't be changed by a normal admin arildb: joined #tikiwiki marclaporte: refizul: the priority is really Linux shared hosting, but there can be some Windows temp dir not available (I guess)
refizul: anytime a password is changed, an email should be sent to that account
so if there was a highjack, we know quickly refizul: what about changing email first?
I've seen the concept of admin and superadmin at postfixadmin.

hello there
i have a few questions about the features of Tiki if anyone knowledgeable would like to help?
obviously i'm being a lazy nubbin and not reading the entirety of the guides first...
which i will surely do, once i'm confident it is worth investing the time (for features that may not exist or be possible) Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03fmg-sf r43623 10branches/10.x/permissioncheck/index.php
tikiwiki [ENH] show permissions of /etc refizul: booksilent: what do you want to know? I still don't know much myself... booksilent: refizul: how extensible is the wiki-ness of the feature? That was not clear enough to me looking through the site... can every feature be wikified? Such as wikified forums?
or does it come with a 'wiki', and a separate 'forum'? marclaporte: separate
But the wiki way is all over the app refizul: what do you mean by wikified? the features can be enabled and disabled seperately marclaporte: So wiki syntax is available everywhere booksilent: so the forum could be wiki enabled? for instance, members of the forum could unitely decide on the layout, categories and running of the very forum they're using to discuss how to wiki their forum?
recursive, i know... but bare with me on this ^_^ marclaporte: hehe, ok, so you explain first, and then, we answer :-)
Tiki has a lot of recursive stuff :-) booksilent: well, that's really it in a nutshell... a forum that the forum members can change inside and out marclaporte: what could a typical user change? booksilent: i suppose, if i thought outside of the box, a wiki could be used as a forum... but i digress
i'm glad you asked... that leads to my second yet equally important question marclaporte: On Wikipedia, they use wiki pages for discussions which you can do in any wiki, but we also offer threaded comments, and regular forums refizul: the members need certain permissions to change settings - this is possible by putting them into a group and assigning certain permissions to this group booksilent: threaded comments <3
^_^ refizul: or you may turn forum on and wiki off, then use Tiki as forum only booksilent: my second question... Can the 'permissions' themselves be wikified? So some sort of democracy takes place... or are there any other systems of 'promotion'? refizul: yes - by grouping permissions and adding users to several groups booksilent: So, for instance, some group of people have permission to 'promote' other, lower members, to their level, but no higher
and members with higher permissions can promote those lower to them, to their level
and so on refizul: I'm not exactly sure whether a group can be given a grant option for others to join the group, but I think it is possible booksilent: and are there any other methods you know of that are available for assigned permissions? Such as the dreaded 'post count' (will not use!), or 'voting' etc. marclaporte: http://doc.tiki.org/Group+Transitions arildb_: joined #tikiwiki marclaporte: permissions are based on groups and you can determine the workflow you want. Ex.: self-join, or people from group X can add people to group Y
or people apply to a group, but need to be approved by another group booksilent: that is awesome xD
thank you for your time refizul and marclaporte
I will read up on this link and perhaps discover i have found what i have been looking for! :)
oh, one last thing... curiosity kills marclaporte: This is the most important link: http://tiki.org/FOSS+Web+Application+with+the+most+built-in+features booksilent: the best example of a Tiki site in action? marclaporte: http://info.tiki.org/Featured+Tikis
Tiki covers so many use cases, there is no one best example
It's perhaps the last web application you will ever need :-) booksilent: Approaching event horizion, indeed ;)
thank you for your patience and the links... feeling like i'm being lazy now... should find these things myself
may catch you around again!
must read... and, unfortunately, sleep
^_^ fabricius: hehe marclaporte and refizul we should cut out this chat between booksilent and you two for the website revamp team refizul: This tmp etc home ... stuff is strange - shoulsd I replace that with an input form? fabricius: really
with an input form refizul ?
do you mean that is the servers tmp?
<- two different questions refizul: yes, user input /var/www/somewebstuff -> permissions of that path or file fabricius: still not understand - you want to change things like in a php shell? refizul: actually on demo? yes, Unix /tmp fabricius: not on demo, but I can fly over
plenty of warnings in 10.x refizul: I'm thinking of an input form where a user can request permissions from any file fabricius: ahhh
nice idea refizul: actually I implemented static /etc /home /tmp fabricius: and next step: change it, if php exec is enabled and finally disable php exec refizul: I don't want to change things via php - this won't work in most cases fabricius: ok, just an idea refizul: process owner needn't be file owner
chmod can be done via ssh or ftp fabricius: if you have ssh refizul: php shell is very risky, BTW fabricius: i am pretty sure - in which respect you think risky? refizul: I do not want a bunch of unexperienced users to shoot themselves into their feet fabricius: into their knees refizul: provide information and let them use ftp or something better to fix whatsoever fabricius: yes and there are other risks, we need not discuss publicly
ftp is risky aswell ... especially if the user needs ssh and you did not run tiki-check.php and understood the messages
need not to say more refizul: one more: the trouble shooting and bug reports arising in the Tiki community instead of where those things belong
forgotten to disable php shell would become the no1 problem fabricius: isn't both different things? and do you mean request for trouble shooting or what?
as said ... php shell nee not to be discussed - you know, I know and I agree with you refizul: yes, request for trouble shooting - ftp itself is risky but out of Tiki's scope fabricius: whats about sftp? refizul: all use cases where users do not have ssh or sftp are possible, even if less secure -- we cannot do anything about that arildb__: joined #tikiwiki fabricius: need to start work now refizul: marclaporte: http://demo.tiki.org/10x/permissioncheck/ Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03fmg-sf r43624 10branches/10.x/permissioncheck/index.php

hi mlaporte ricks99: Bsfez: believe there was a security fix that needed to go quickly jonnyb: looks like the new files aren't uploaded yet
Bsfez: that "create page in default categ if user doesn't have global tiki_p_edit" thing looks quite tricky - and i can't even see how it's being done in 6.x
because the page object hasn't been created yet, it can't be categorised, so can't be checked... catch 22 Bsfez: yes (sry)
let me check something about the code jonnyb: by the way, the group with the defcat on needs to be the users default group for it to have any chance of working, by the look of the code Bsfez: at line 201 there is a check about "!$tikilib->user_has_perm_on_object" jonnyb: yes,, and because the object doesn't exist at that stage it checks the global perms
this probably also affects all tiki objects - blog posts, articles etc (maybe) Bsfez: exact… the regression is in all that's why i suggest that the fix should be somewhere in tikilib
anyway, we have case where tw "guess" some parameters prior creating the page (like lang).
we also declare (in admingroup) that created object by a member of this group should be categorized as : xxxx
i'm no coder and i'm sure u understand better than i, but we need a kind of rule that say: jonnyb: think we'll need LPH for that one i'm afraid - don't want to go making holes in there (Perms) Bsfez: on new object creation by a user of group xxx category of the object is yyy THIS set before the editing/save step.
i undertsand
i have seen quit heavy code about this on tw6 and tw9… it should be (my guess as noob) simplifyed as the rule i just wrote. jonnyb: yes, but perms are checked way before the object is created
hmm, not sure perms have really changed that much since 6.x Bsfez: Right, but same, we already know way before the object is created what category will be assigned.
and it keep some logic… there is no reason a user could see tools to create a page (button, structure, ?) if in anyway he can perform such. :)
actually and we saw it, i can create an object, but not edit/save… a little fony. changi: joined #tikiwiki jonnyb: arildb: looks like the wysiwyg issue you found on demo.t.o must be something involving the {include} plugin, right? probably not recommended ;) arildb: jonnyb: I think it may be a more general issue when plugins are involved. tikiwiki [FIX] parser: Don't reset all the current parse options to defaults if a few are changed (include plugin sets the 'page' option, which was then unsetting everything else, is_html, ck_editor etc)
tikiwiki Added include to plugins not to wysiwyg as it often caused problems before (thanks Arildb)

tikiwiki [REL] Tagging release arildb: jonnyb: I think I got the bug replicated on http://demo.tiki.org/trunk/tiki-index.php?page=encoding+test+2
Steps.. jonnyb: hopefully i fixed it in r43652 arildb: 1) Create the DIV plugin floating right with an HTML anchor tag inside it.
29 Save the page
3) Edit again
4) Add a box plugin
>> anchor tag is corrupted
jonnyb: ok. Let's hope it's a fix jonnyb: that might be a different thing - adding the include plugin was messing up the parser options...
i'll try this thing (locally) arildb: If you fix only applied to the include plugin, this is different
step 5) should be Save the page again jonnyb: is this in html mode? not in "visual wiki" mode (wysiwyg_htmltowiki) arildb: cheditor, html mode
s/cheditor/ckeditor jonnyb: if it's html, why are you using wiki plugins to make divs? (just wondering) arildb: I don't think the parser allows styling of html divs jonnyb: it should leave html alone, it's whether ckeditor does what you want i guess - there probably are some other tools for divs etc that could be enabled arildb: could be, but this is valid syntax and it should work jonnyb: just found on called box arildb: My feeling is that this is a "general" plugin error, and it's not related explicitly to the box plugin. jonnyb: when you say "DIV plugin floating right with an HTML anchor tag inside it" you type the html into the plugin edit form you mean? like <a name="foo"> or something? arildb: e.g. use <a href="http://www.yahoo.com">yahoo.com</a> jonnyb: hmm, all the html gets encoded - this is a wiki plugin, so probably doesn't want html inside it arildb: This time I typed the HTML in directly. However, on existing sites all links are in HTML format (I believe). In html mode all links are converted to html syntax (or it used to be so) jonnyb: seems ok once saved though (somehow) arildb: you have to resave to trigger the error
Add a new plugin and resave
does that work? eromneg: left #tikiwiki jonnyb: after adding 2nd box plugin the link html is now html encoded (showing on the page) arildb: so, you got it duplicated jonnyb: if you use wiki syntax for the link [http://www.yahoo.com/m] it seems ok arildb: I have upgraded a couple of sites to Tiki 10 (to take advantage of the new features). This bug is corrupting some of the data jonnyb: from 9? arildb: yes, wiki syntax seems to work. I am not sure if it still is auto-converted to html links once saved
upgraded from 8 jonnyb: the convertions should only happen when switching from wiki to html/wysiwyg
ah, is it ok in 9? arildb: didn't work that way before. All links were converted
not sure about 9
I did the include plugin test on 9, and that worked OK there jonnyb: yes, recent parser regressions arildb: seems like it jonnyb: but also lots of html entity/parser disruptions during 9.0 release arildb: I have been using Tiki 8 (only) until recently. I haven't tested 9 that much Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: russian for not admin users - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=13&comments_parentId=45462 changi: joined #tikiwiki Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03robertplummer r43656 10branches/10.x/lib/core/ 03JisonParser/Wiki/Link.php 10JisonParser/Wiki/Handler.php

Also some minor cleanup of code RobertPlummer: jonnyb: Again so sorry about that file not being included. jonnyb: hi RobertPlummer - np, sorry about my intemperate email too ;) RobertPlummer: jonnyb: The file did commit, because LP looked at it, yet sourceforge went down just as I was committing it. When I svn upped last night the file was not in the commit, I did an svn up and the file disappeared, so I have no idea what happened.
jonnyb: svn commit --half
lol :) jonnyb: sf seems lots better today
but i still got a couple of odd errors RobertPlummer: Or perhaps it was this file that brought sf down?
jk
Any errors related to my code? jonnyb: while you're there, could you cast an eye over http://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/tikiwiki/?rev=43652&view=rev just in case there might be unintended consequences (please)? RobertPlummer: looking arildb: jonnyb: I confirm you fix to the include plugin works well. thanks jonnyb: super, just hope it doesn't break anything else! RobertPlummer: jonnyb: The set options on the old parser and new are different beasts. The old parser is somewhat static. The new one is OO, so the options are inherited, and can be changed when needed. fabricius: joined #tikiwiki arildb: RobertPlummer: Does that mean that if a plugin alters the parser options, these new settings will be applied to the following plugins parsed? RobertPlummer: arildb: Yup arildb: ok RobertPlummer: arildb: In plugins we really should do:
new Parser();
and when done using it, unset(Parser); arildb: To me that seems like an undesirable effect....that parser setitings travel across plugin boarders (and given that they can be altered indie plugins)
s/indie/inside
RobertPlummer: Is this new "inherited options" taken advantage of in anyway currently? coaboa: How can I disable the forums "discuss" button for a specific page? arildb: If new Parser() and then unset(Parser) should be called for each plugin, is it possible to integrate this in the plugin-calling framework, so the plugin author doesn't have to recall it. Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03robertplummer r43657 10branches/10.x/lib/core/JisonParser/Wiki/Link.php
tikiwiki [FIX] list of externals come from tiki-admin_external_wikis.php, not from code, lookup rather than force RobertPlummer: arildb: In the new parser it is.
arildb: $this->parse() detects if there is an active parse, and if so instantiates another parser, parses, and then unsets it, while the parser is parsing.
arildb: It would be possible in the old parser, but it may not act like you think it might, it is a hairy mess to start changing around.
arildb: There is a reason why a new parser is being built. arildb: RobertPlummer: by new parser, I assume you mean the jison parser. That is not enabled in the site I am testing on. RobertPlummer: arildb: Right. arildb: jonnyb: You commented that the fix enabling of large file imports perhaps should be backported to Tiki 10 (and possibly Tiki 9). I can do the backport, but best if somebody can verify the fix first
i.e. the batch update fix(es) fabricius: polom jonnyb: arildb: will try to sometime, but running out of day at the moment

coaboa: but why a noob would have to do such configurations? changi: joined #tikiwiki coaboa: In my case : having the minichat on a wiki page and do not want to have the discuss button on this (and other static) pages
hi changi
with all other buttons/wiki features it works. Soi think there is a forum/discussion related perm check prob with either the wiki feature or the template fabricius: coaboa: but then it is not important, if the configuration is noobish or advanced ... you do it yourself and you are advanced
coaboa: maybe make it in css and use a category and theme configuration Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03robertplummer r43661 10branches/10.x/templates/rating.tpl
tikiwiki [FIX] include admin as rating result viewer fabricius: coaboa: so you can apply this to arbitrary pages with a noob workflow (simple apply a category coaboa: wasn't meant to serious sorry for being indifferent. and I have solved it by modify the css .button class for the specific page
and as I mentioned befor category perms make all other buttons go away as expected
but *not* the discuss button fabricius: so you did it with css - per page base is good ... category later would be easy ... so solved, nice one Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03robertplummer r43662 10branches/10.x/ 10lib/smarty_tiki/function.rating_result.php 10templates/comment-body.tpl 10styles/layout/layout.css
tikiwiki [FIX] Use the bottom of the thread result, layout for better appearance fabricius: not category perms, theme conrol by category ... that's different
just an enhancement of your actual solution, in case youj need id for more than one page
, in case you need it for more than one page
sry typo coaboa: I know that but I had to make the thing go away in "real time" ;-)

tikiwiki [FIX] tiki-batch_upload.php can now handle large files, e.g CD images.
tikiwiki [MOD] FileMetadata will no longer load the file contents when a file path is specified.
tikiwiki Doing so will break normal PHP memory limits for large files, e.g. CD/DVD images.
tikiwiki Determine filesize directly from the filesystem when a path is specified.
tikiwiki The content attribute is set to private to avoid clients using FileMetadata as a file loader
tikiwiki [ENH] Make batch uploading and large file integration more visible.
