   booksilent: greetings again!
<br> i'm fairly sure i'm not going to ask a silly question this time, having done my reading homework and poked around a bit more...
<br> ...but it is still not clear to me if i could do this...
   <br> wiki... a wiki...
<br> how deep can the rabbit hole goooooooo *echo*
   marclaporte1: hehe
   <br> what's on your mind?
   booksilent: hi again marc!
<br> so, i'm visualizing this functionality whereby the average 'viewer' sees the finished site, like a normal wikified site
<br> and they may also notice a 'tab' of some kind that, if clicked on, will allow them to vote on their preferred 'statements'... the most popular statements being strung together to form the initial 'front-end' article
<br> but then, if they were given more permissions, they would notice yet another tab, going deeper into the editorial process, to add their own statements and the such
   <br> but even still!...
marclaporte1: Is this a good word for what you have in mind? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deliberation
booksilent: another tab, which (skipping a few steps here) allows them to edit how the whole editorial process works thus far
<br> so... editing the way it edits
<br> recursion, again, i'm afraid xD
<br> but yes, deliberation would be a part of the process... i've read a little now on the possibilities of voting, which actually inspired this deeper editing process
   Bsfez: joined #tikiwiki
booksilent: love how you can deliberate on something in some hidden 'for your eyes only' area, and publish when ready
<br> having a powerful data collection and storage feature is also awesome... and compatibility with Firebird! love it!
   marclaporte1: Compatibility with Firebird?
booksilent: sure, i read that somewhere... it was just an aside ^_^
<br> i have a feeling i've got a lot of work ahead of me
<br> would you recommend buying the Guide for Smarties?... does this in any way fund the project? Or just line the authors pockets?
panamaus: The hardcopy Tiki for Smarties I have was written back in the era of 6.x and seemed pretty outdated when I bought it a year ago. It didn't even include a single mention of trackers
booksilent: ah ha, thanks for the heads up!
panamaus: I found it only marginally more useful than the outdated documentation on doc.tiki.org, and in some cases not even that
booksilent: gotta kinda figure it out for myself... no worries... i've tried gaming on linux... i can use google ;)
panamaus: It was handy to have as offline reference. And it let me jumpstart when I was a noobie without being around my computer. So there's that.
booksilent: the free online resource should suffice... i like books if they're, you know... not doorstops xD
   <br> smartphone ftw
<br> is what you made available to have a look at?
   <br> out of curiosity
marclaporte1: <u>booksilent</u>: go ahead and buy both Smarties guides
<br> <u>panamaus</u>: Trackers is in the other book
   booksilent: does the money help?
<br> i mean, that's a big motivating factor to get a copy... knowing it part-funds the project
marclaporte1: Well, the author is uber active in the Tiki community
<br> So everyone is happy if he can get some funds to spend more time on Smarties
booksilent: indirect funding... i can dig ;)
marclaporte1: and the content is all Creative Commons
<br> So when you buy, it's partly for printing / shipping cost and partly a donation really
booksilent: do you know if he has a price for both a hard and digital copy? i can only find one or the other
<br> sorry, i phrased that badly
<br> i want to give him money, and he gives me BOTH
   marclaporte1: hehe
   <br> I dunno the specifics
<br> http://tiki.org/Donation is if you want to donate to the association, which covers domain names, server costs, SSL
booksilent: i mean, Amazon sells them separately... i don't think capitalism has caught up with digital markets... still
marclaporte1: Can't you put both in your cart?
booksilent: ...at extra cost to me, yes
<br> i could scan the book... or print the digital copy... but i'm not insane xD
<br> well... i'll read the online one to begin with... need to slowly invest, rather than leap in
<br> got lots to think about, plan, and develop
<br> brain babies to give birth to
   <br> (besides working and shiat)
<br> speaking of which, bed time :)
<br> thanks for your help ^_^

<br> broke my left hand 3 hours ago - bycicle accident - bike still alive!
   <br> so big luck!
<br> tomorrow after a meeting back to hospital - seems that I get a surgery (operation?)
<br> 6 weeks fulltime on Tiki then, but only with 5 fingers
   marclaporte: your head is intact?
   fabricius: yes!
   <br> helmet
<br> i have to correct me ... have 6 fingers so far for the keyboard
   <br> 5 1/2

refizul: <u>fabricius</u>: hospital? broken hand? OMG? - just reading IRC backlog, and this is not the kind of news I want to hear/read
<br> <u>fabricius</u>: anything we can do? Recommend a software which makes live easier for a one hand person?
fabricius: thx, but all has bad and good sites refizul Jyhem marclaporte ... it is all a question of the perspectives feature. Ok, it hurts and I cannot work in the shop for the next few weeks, but on the other hand my timesheet is bloged for the Tiki revamp now
<br> arrgl ... roling cigarettes one handed sucks
   <br> rolling
<br> myb wll spr vcls ... svs typng
   <br> folding cigarettes now
refizul: no big deal from that point of view
<br> folding cigs - I cannot believe somethg is broken... :-

fabricius: <u>ricks99</u>: metacarpus fracture left hand
   ricks99: ouch
   fabricius: surgery tomorrow
ricks99: can you type with left hand? ;-)
fabricius: i can type with right hand and left plaster cast
ricks99: <u>Q</u>: is there an easy way to test if the current wiki page is in a structure (by name)?
   <br> The {$structure} only returns y|n
<br> I want to actually test the against the structure
   <br> Was hoping for something like {if $structure_id eq '1'}.... {/if} but can't find it :(

   fabricius: that's structures?
ricks99: $home_info is the array for the structure and page_ref_id is the wiki page ID for the start/name of the structure
   fabricius: ah yes
<br> what you want to do with it?
ricks99: need to test for specific struture. Want to conditionalize CSS
   fabricius: ahhh interesting!!!

   marclaporte: <u>FCPD</u>: tks for reporting
<br> I see this very rarely, but have never been able to pinpoint why
FCPD: sure i deleted and will reinstall. i did have a space in the folder name so maybe thats why
<br> long time no chat im the train guy still poking around with the software and still like it ;) appreciate all you folks do!
   marclaporte: :-)
   <br> I rememeber the stories!
FCPD: removed the space and works fine maybe that's a lead
   ricks99: @Marc: yup. in debug
marclaporte: <u>FCPD</u>: We have made dramatic progress on maps
<br> <u>ricks99</u>: I am glad we moved that debug to a more obvious place :-)
   ricks99: me too :)
FCPD: that's why i came a calling! i work for the us government now doing foreclosure work and am wanting to take tiki for a test drive and maybe get some interest on their part
<br> the wiki will be for my company but they are looking for a viable solution under the contract
   marclaporte: There was this: http://foreclosurepedia.org/
   FCPD: thats me
<br> the MW application is not secure enough
marclaporte: you'll want to keep track of http://profiles.tiki.org/Cartograf
FCPD: i am wanting to take /reo and spin up tw on it
   <br> ok noting it now
marclaporte: In a nutshell, it's a teaching aid for history and geography for high school teachers
<br> It lets kids make their own maps, add pictures, draw on pictures
   <br> take snapshots from StreetView...
<br> So you could enter a zip code, find the house, grab a picture, draw on the picture and add data about that point
FCPD: man, see that's precisely what i'm driving at!
   marclaporte: ok, go here: http://demo.tiki.org/
   <br> take note of username/pass
   <br> go to http://demo.tiki.org/cartograf
   FCPD: heading now
marclaporte: not much doc yet, but the application is functional
FCPD: so is this something that dumps as a profile in the admin section?
   <br> on a new install?
marclaporte: you could do on an existing install, but since this profile is quite invasive, it's better on a fresh install
   <br> You need a Tiki10
   <br> What is your timeframe?
ricks99: <u>marclaporte</u>: sent this to u the other day. https://info.tiki.org/tiki-view_tracker_item.php?itemId=1482 did u want to follow up?
FCPD: i'm on a new install. i have a couple of months to tinker around. i am trying to push open source w/HUD as to date everything has been W*ndows and miserable
   marclaporte: ricks99|away: done, thks
