is it normal that installer takes quite some time to finish the job or is my server a bit sluggish?
there is no progress bar, so one might think it is hanging, although i remember last time i also took some time
ok..done

rinnan: gour: been using tiki for some time now. and I'm quite satistfied. Havent tested typo3 tho
dennmans: joined #tikiwiki
gour: rinnan: for what are you using tiki?
rinnan: gour: Well I currently have three different installs. One private wiki, one I'm using to create a website for a friend, and one for my company
gour: rinnan: can you give some url to check it out?
rinnan: the corporate one is only accessible on our internal network. You might take a peek at that site I made for my friend, even though it isnt quite done yet: tbj.rinnan.info
its a small site in norwegian
gour: ok...let me see
rinnan: We'll use that site for publishing my frineds art and cartoons. Making more content availabe for those visitors having a username/passowrd on the site
gour: ok
tiki looks capable, but, somehow, it's not the most intuitive for me...
rinnan: gour: what do you want it to do?
gour: rinnan: i'm accustomed that in CMS i've defined certain 'areas' on the page where i can put different content elements...moreover, CMS usually have page-tree structure where i can easily add new pages and/or re-arrange 'em usually via drag'n'drop
tiki seems to be a bit different
rinnan: gaur: In Tiki one can use structures to achieve that effect
gour: rinnan: yeah, i'm sure it can be achieved, but the method is a bit different or not so intuitive for me...otoh, typo3, although being complex, it's more 'natural' for me

arildb: when you are an admin you can see the permissions button below the page. If you clear all permissions from all groups, only admins can access the page.
Guest21179: if user wants to see that page after adding password....is that possible?
user can see page name from list but when click on it.....it ask for password and after fill password user can see that page.
arildb: then assign permissions to a group the user belongs to. Note you don't "add a password". You restrict access to the groups with permissions. The password check is done when the user logs in
Guest21179: means password protected not possible for particular page in tikiwiki?
arildb: Guest21179: No, it means Tiki has a rich permission model, which you can do lots more with, than simple password protection

ricks99: seeing parsing errors on on t.o community site when using :: wiki syntax to center items
tamler: Hello all, I am still having an issue. When attempting to log on to my tikiwiki 10 site we are getting a cookie error like this: http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=39641&topics_offset=5
of course cookies are enabled and all. I do have a tilde (~) in the URL as mentioned in the previous link... but I'm not sure where I would change the URL in tikiwiki to test if the char code would allow cookies to be created.
If anyone has a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated.

ricks99: RobertPlummer: new, on t.o
RobertPlummer: ok
ricks99: jonnyb: thought the switch was an option?

jonnyb: yes, it's a pref
ricks99: did someone chane the pref on t.o
-: ricks99 off to check...
RobertPlummer: lol
I'm pretty sure tiki.org uses the old parser and not the new.
So I believe this is an old parser problem with multi line.

was working previously.
just noticed the issue yesterday
RobertPlummer: Very odd.
ricks99: one more thing to add to your list :)

Guest96648: ok
Bsfez1: RobertPlummer: "bounce" ?
RobertPlummer: Bsfez1: I'm having trouble working through a problem, looking for input.
The new parser html -> wiki seems to be working great in most scenarios, but I seem to have found one that it is having trouble handling, "sideways tags".
<strong><p></strong></p> it has trouble with
So I need to find a way to handle them
ricks99: ^^^ that's invalid
fabricius: but that seems to be not valid anyway
Bsfez1: :)
RobertPlummer: ricks99: I know it is, but the old parser seemed to spit those out.
fabricius: yes ricks99
ah
RobertPlummer: ricks99: The idea is to handle even erroneous input.
ricks99: so the new parser will accept/allow invalid coding?
RobertPlummer: ricks99: It won't slap you for putting it in
fabricius: or autoignore spiiting out
a spitting parser
ricks99: what would wiki syntax look like to cause <strong<p>...</strong></p> ?
RobertPlummer: <p>__Test</p>
-: ricks99 doesn't see how it is possible
ricks99: ah... parser should (IMHO) auto-close any non-closed tag at the end of every block
RobertPlummer: The wiki parser is not an html parser, so it tries to repair the syntax.
-: Bsfez1 love the idea of correcting mistakes !
ricks99: <p>__Test</p> --> <p><strong>....</strong></p>
fabricius: RobertPlummer: you want to teach jison to spit? kidding
RobertPlummer: ricks99: You're talking about double the amount of parsing
ricks99: you asked :)
just telling ya what i'd like to see
imho, parser should not allow elemtns to cross block boundaries
RobertPlummer: It sounds like the best answer is to prevent the repairing
fabricius: I think, if __text is typed it sgould not be parsed
/s/sgould/should
RobertPlummer: fabricius: that is just 1 syntax, should we do it for all of them?
fabricius: This is a pretty big change in how the parser operates.
ricks99: agree ^^
shoudl simply auto-close at end of block
isnt' this what it currently does?
jonnyb: Bsfez1: have been looking at the last_user thing on galleries - it's just not there and not trivial to add (nothing is trivial in file gals!) - hopefully elfinder will take over for tiki 11 :)
fabricius: RobertPlummer: not sure .... when I am in only wiki mode right up to now and I do forget a sign in wikisyntax, it is just not parsed, but shown in plain text
so it is kind of ugly in some situation, but I SEE the fault and can "rapair it straight away when I simply reedit and put i the right syntax
GillesM: joined #tikiwiki
Bsfez1: jonnyb: i'll try to play add with that… if i fail and you can give me little time with that i'll be happy to look at your screen while you do.
fabricius: autorepairing could brake things, cause the system would guess what I wanted and be wrong in it's conclusion
RobertPlummer: so all, are we in agreement that auto-repairing is a bad idea?
jonnyb: the info is in the database (at least, the user who last edited a gallery is recorded) but the template is such a mess it's very tricky to add anything there
fabricius: I mean that autorepairing wiki-syntax might be a bad idea and it could be better to ignore incomplete wikisyntax, but instead leave it plain taxt, until correction

Guest31057: yes
fabricius: there have been some issues with spreadsheet and tracker as (sub)spreadsheet, which Robert fixed recently
so yu might upgrade to the last end of 9.x, which will be 9.3 very soon
best choice, if you have shell access on your server would be to run the site via svn, which saves a lot of time and is kind of a rolling release in between a major version
once checked out you simply need to type "svn up" to upgrade the code and get the latest fixes
marclaporte: or get daily build: https://dev.tiki.org/Daily+Build

yes, I used the CkEditor to save it. Needs is_html = true
