Hi. I'm new to Tiki WIki and this is my first time use of irc. I am looking for a solution to what I am sure will turn out to be quite a simple problem. I have just installed Tiki Wiki and uploaded my site logo. However I need to align the logo to the left so it stays within its own section. I cannot find out ow to do this. Tried a few things -- all to no avail. Can anyone help please. Regards

alzoo: hi DoinQ, if you come, back, what you are lookking to do is Edit this custom module: MyLogo, in the data section, you specify that the if its centered, left or right justification, that's what I did, hope it helps
Does anyone know where to look/edit to verify/fix the tiki authentication, which does not seem to be working anymore
marclaporte1: alzoo: on tiki.org?
alzoo: you can enter in the the account & password however as soon as you make any chnages, it states please login....
marclaporte1: in which version of Tiki?
alzoo: I assume I need to be looking in the php section to fix this
v9, I tried to add ldap authentication
I didn't have the the php module installed, so I follow the instrcuctions to add it in, resarted the web server and boom
not even admin could login
what I have done is add anonymous to tiki-p-admin to regain access to the tiki
marclaporte1: sneaky
alzoo: no this is on my private tiki
marclaporte1: you can also find the table tiki-prefs and change back LDAP auth
alzoo: marclaporte1, no this is on my own wiki
arildb: joined #tikiwiki
alzoo: if I remove the anonymous access, I can login however I get permission denied wherever I click and no quick admin or admin modules available.

alzoo: if I change the tiki authentication back from tiki & ldap authentication to tiki, do I need to restart the web server?
fabricius: alzoo: I think that depends on where you did the changes -> in tiki, then cache; on server then restart
alzoo: when you refer to cache you refer to /var/www/root/temp/cache?
anyway I did all that and I still can't authenticate...
does anyone know what part of the php modules controls the tiki authentication, I assume the link between this and the mysql database is currupted, the login module accepts the password but doesn't accord the permissions
fabricius: alzoo: I did refer to the tiki cache -> certain cache folderys in the tiki root ... when you interfered on your server I cannot help you easily, cause there are no tiki-standart-procedures for individual changes on specific servers
alzoo: and sry, have to go now ... appointments

alzoo: thanks anyway fabricius
anyone else know where to look to fix a broken tiki authentication

arildb: I have an installation which stores the gallery files in a directory. Seemingly some files have gotten "lost" in the directory. So, the gallery file point to a non-existing file. Does anybody know if Tiki has a consistancy check for the file gallery?

alzoo: I have tried to reinstall the tiki be renaming the old www directory and copying back the v9 install
gour: i wonder what CMS did you use before tiki?
alzoo: the tiki-install.php works, however when I click on install it asks me to very I am the site administrator and then when I enter the details it start s all over again
what is going on!!!!!
all I tired to do is activate ldap authentication.....
F.Y.I
I have managed to successfully recreate a new tiki from the install, I changed the admin password etc. however I still can not authenticate! it accepts hte login and password and does not log me in
Where does the tiki authentication live on the web server!

arildb: alzoo: go here - tiki-login_scr.php
sandroandrade: joined #tikiwiki
alzoo: I can go there and I can assume to be loggin in, I enter the admin login adn password and it does not log me in, it does not say invalid password.
each time I try to do something with the tiki-install.php, it states, "You are attempting to run the Tiki Installer. For your protection, this installer can be used only by a site administrator. "

alzoo: something is majorly corrupted somewhere, I can't even use the tiki-install.php to install a new tiki

alzoo: each time I click on install (step 5) it throws up the You are attempting to run the Tiki Installer. For your protection, this installer can be used only by a site administrator.
and login again and it throws me abck tot he begginig of the install (welcome step 1)
jonnyb: Polom Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday
hi alzoo - still having fun? :)
sounds like you locked your installer (it's recommended)
alzoo: yes lots of fun
no I have started afresh from scratch
jonnyb: this is on 10, or 9?
alzoo: even with a fresh install into a new direcotry and new db I get his issue..
v9
9.1 to be precise
jonnyb: hmm, 9.2 is out (but i don't think will help this issue
you have ftp or ssh access to the site?
alzoo: yes
it is defiitely not an issue with the mysal db or tiki install
jonnyb: check in your /db dir for a file called lock (i think)
alzoo: I resinstalled a new copy of the tiki, did a manual dump of tiki.sql chnaged the admin password after logining in once and still it would not authenticate me on the new tiki
thanks jonnyb, but passed that.....
jonnyb: how do yoo mean "did a manual dump of tiki.sql"?
alzoo: yes
jonnyb: no, i mean, what do you mean? i do not understand
alzoo: so I have a brand new tiki and a brand new tiki db and still couldn't login
sorry I folowed this for a manual install as the tiki-install.php was not working for me... http://doc.tiki.org/Manual+Installation
all it says is "Import the content of db/tiki.sql into your database"
jonnyb: ok, i thought you said something was going wrong on step 5 of the installer
so you have a database, have you created the db/local.php?
alzoo: it was, I could not install the new tiki via the tiki-instal.php, so I did it manually
jonnyb: don't try mixing using the installer and manual installation, it'll get very confused
alzoo: yes that part was created by the tiki-install.php
jonnyb: i'm lost now, sorry
alzoo: ok, I only went to the manual install after step 5 returned to step1
recep
I followed the steps in the tiki-install from 1-5
that worked fine....
in step 5 when I went to click on "install" button, it threw up the "You are attempting to run the Tiki Installer. For your protection, this installer can be used only by a site administrator."
I enter in the username and password and it returns me to step 1
so after that I followed the instrcutions and Import the content of db/tiki.sql into your database
that worked fine.
on the new page, I logged in as admin/admin
it threw up the change password page, I changed it, and was still on the home page
I then typed in tiki-admin.php in the urlm and it said, "you are not logged in"
therefore, regardless of being a new tiki and db, the authentication problem is still there..... reinstalling from scratch as not helped...
jonnyb: what kind of server is it? which OS i mean?
alzoo: centos
with LAMP
jonnyb: hmm, should be pretty standard then
alzoo: what happened is everything was working fine....
I changed the authentication in the login feature from tiki to tiki and ldap, I entered in what I thought were the correct settings
jonnyb: ew, right
alzoo: I then noticed I didn't have the php-ldap moduled installed,
I installed it as per the insrcutions, restarted the wbeserver and boom, lost the ability to authenticate
jonnyb: i can't see it could remember if you restart totally from scratch - that's only stuff in the database so should forget everything when you reinstall
sorry, sounds like this is beyond me - ldap is advance admin stuff, i'm just a coder :)
alzoo: maybe the php-ldap modules has changed something somehwere
or maybe a fresh install doesnt inlcude the php/authenication section...
luckily i have backups of my db, so I will resinstall a new centos server and go from there.....
perhaps with 9.2 this time.. :D
jonnyb: nah, why not 10.0 beta? :)
alzoo: hmmm.... can I reimport my 9.1 db abck into a 10.0 beta?
has stable is that one....
jonnyb: yes, if you can get the installer working it will upgrade an old tiki for you
there is a shell installer too
alzoo: anyway I need a break its 13:33 where I am and time to have lunch
ok, will check i t out...
jonnyb: i go too - bbl

gour: is nginx common server for tiki?
jonnyb: hi gour - coincidentally i was just wondering the same
gour: heh...good
jonnyb: apache keeps stealing all my server's RAM, nginx seems like a good option
gour: i've to do something afk, then i'll put tiki to some testing to check whether it's better option than contao & typo3
jonnyb: i spotted this page - https://nextdoc.tiki.org/Nginx - not much on it but at least someone's thinking about it! :)
gour: yeah, apache is eliminated here from the start
jonnyb: don't know contao, but tiki's way better than typo3 (imho!)
gour: usually the problem is that many PHP CMS-es abuse mod_rewrite and make it too complex to rewrite .htaccess
jonnyb: you have tries typo3?
it's quuite powerful, but also too complex, imho, for the tasks (i need)
contao is ex typolight
jonnyb: bits and pieces, as a user - never tried to set one up, admittedly
fabricius: joined #tikiwiki
gour: i play(ed) with it, but it eats ram as well...>=256mb is recommended
jonnyb: one of our German guys has had quite a bit of experience with both - hey, there he is, fabricius, what a nice coincidence!
fabricius: is tiki better than typo3?
(sort of silly question really, what does "better" mean here)
gour: ohh, i already talked to him but do not recall that typo3 was mentioned
luciash: polom
jonnyb: polom luciash
gour: jonnyb: to do the same task with less effort, modest use of resources etc.
luciash: btw, i think amette hated typo3 pretty much ;)
gour: jonnyb: contao is nice, but more/only german oriented and, it seems, not so community oriented
jonnyb: tiki can be moderately greedy with recourses, it depends which bits you switch on
but 128M is still enough for an average site on apache
gour: well, for few (3-4 sites) i can use 500mb of memory on the server and php limit is 256mb
and will use my own nginx instead of apache
luciash: i would like to try tiki on nginx one day too but someone already tried and failed (dunno if it was only because of the .htaccess)
-: gour would like to hear some tiki vs typo3 experiences
gour: that's really bad having, these days, only support for apache
luciash: did u read TikivsTypo3 ?
gour: luciash: it's too superficial...
jonnyb: i'm running about 20 tikis on a 2GB "cloud" server and (since tweaking the apache conf) it's stable and pretty quick
although they're all low traffic sites mostly
gour: are you a developer? or admin? or... maybe we could get tiki happy on nginx somehow - i'm keen!
gour: jonnyb: i can afford for hardware what i already have...kind of semi-VPS (webfaction-like hosting) since i do not want to bother witl full VPS and manage database/mail/etc. servers, keep security things etc.
jonnyb: let's pick this up later? i have to go for a little while
gour: jonnyb: i'm in between...there is some .htaccess --> nginx converter online if tiki does not do strange/nasty things with mod_rewrite
amette: yup, I think Typo3 is close to a vacuum - haven't had a look at it in a long time though
jonnyb: bbl
gour: amette: which version you used last?
jonnyb: well we got tiki running ok on IIS, so nginx should be easy! :)
hey amette
amette: puh.... no idea... it was about 6 years ago
heya jonnyb :)
gour: amette: there is upcoming 6.x branch and they work on neos based on flow mbc
jonnyb: gottagoforawhile, more later
gour: *mvc
amette: I found it way too rigid
luciash: amette: hi bro
gour: bye jonnyb
amette: ah, gour - that sounds like an improvement
luciash: ahoj bracho :)
luciash: amette: kiitos veli
amette: :)
gour: amette: yes, but it' still way too complex...to tweak templates/extensions etc.
amette: yup, and they will break with every upgrade you do of the core engine
gour: amette: how long you're with tiki?
amette: it's an often stressed advantage of Tiki - which I only got to appreciate correctly once I had to work with Typo3
I think seven years now
gour: ohh...then you must ve very happy with tiki ;)
amette: way happier than with Typo3 for sure ;)
gour: amette: i wrote few days ago on users list, but didn't get much reply...explaining about my 'history' and future 'plans'
shortly...looking for a decent CMS i can settle on which is mature, actively developed and not too complicated to convert themes to native ones, plenty of features and approachable development...some i18n support for my lang as well not to always start translating from the scratch
amette: I think that you are quite close with Tiki, expecially with the i18n support
gour: is it easy to e.g. use YAML (or some other like bootstrap) css layout amd convert it to the native tiki one?
amette: there are no special tools for that yet, but using some framework (especially bootstrap) was discussed at TikiFest Barcelona some months ago - no idea what the current status on that is
luciash might know more on that
gour: what about converting a general html/css/js template?
amette: manual work, but I fear you won't get around that with any CMS engine
gour: does not matter it's manual, but in typo3 using even templavoila or new extbase/fluid is more complex than i expect it to be...atm i use concrete5, which is quite good for that
what to speak about 'old ways' in typo3 :-/

now, considering that 10.0 is (probably) close - i did install beta on my server, i wonder if it bring some important changes to tiki which would influence value of rick's 'tiki books'?
