Every release, some are done. However, new ideas are always cropping up :-) gour: what is with the support for disqus comments? i saw 'em on rick's site, but cannot find any reference? moreover, i'm curious what is general consensus amongst tiki users in regard to pro/cons of using disqus?
btw, i read several 'philosophical' pages in the docs (model, etc.), some like 'collaboration vs cooperation' and wonder why i didn't discover tiki earlier :-/ marclaporte: well, you are here now gour: indeed...feeling good ;) marclaporte: For Disqus: just catch Rick when he comes to add recipe gour: i asked him when commenting on his blog, but he, somehow, skipped that part :-) marclaporte: hahahahah
Maybe just do view source gour: mysql/mariadb are the focus now? when playing with django/web2py i was seriously consider to move to postgresql...even using it with bacula backup for some time marclaporte: We tried for several years to support PG, but there was more interest than code
So it's categorized in the "unrealistic goal" section for now
But: as part of Tiki7 tracker revamp, support for alternate storage was introduced
So you could store tracker data in Mongo for example
tracker data is the only place where data needs can really become very very big gour: i agree it's better to state mysql/mariadb-only, instead of advertising multi-db support and then reading blog posts "why i don't support postgres" from core dev
otoh, i prefer rdbms over no-sql :-)
and hopefully maria will get into official debian at one point of time marclaporte: There could also be some work to support cloud DBs like SQL_Azure gour: nice, but i like to keep stuff closer to me :-) marclaporte: hehe, me too, but it depends on the project gour: what do you think about some new css framework (instead of *lite) or the status of tiki-theming in general? -: gour nods marclaporte: Azure stuff is cool because there are a lot of services (DB, CDN, etc.)
for theming: next step is to hold a 7-10 day TikiFest in Montreal to revamp it all gour: Azure is windows stuff?
when it's going to happen? marclaporte: Yes, Azure is Microsoft

no planned date gour: any eta?
ahh, found it...
Just after Tiki12 LTS... marclaporte: would make sense just after Tiki12, so we can deprecate a bunch of themes (and people who want/need them can stay on Tiki12 LTS for 3.5 years) Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03jonnybradley r44072 10trunk/ 10templates/object/infobox/trackeritem.tpl 10lib/core/Services/Object/Controller.php
tikiwiki [MOD] infobox: Change to divs mode default (discuss) gour: i won't be there on that fest...for sure :-)
it's a bit far from here
and tiki12 is one year ahead which means we have to use the present technology and make best of it...
that's ok...yesterday i stumbled upon "Content the Once and Future King" :-)
i haven't done much with Tiki so far, installed 9.2 & 10.0beta, played a bit, read more about it, went quickly thorugh Smarties...and i'm very impressed...congrats to the founder, yourself and all the people pushing it forward
i also much prefer tiki's business model in comparison with concrete5 where one single and a bit useful add-on costs $s and one has to buy stuff for each project one uses it
it's better to work & support tiki for the general benefit marclaporte: gour: you have a lot of time to prepare your trip :-) And we'll likely see you in a TikiFest in Europe then. We should have one in France or UK soon.
thanks for the kind words. Founder is long-retired but he started something great :-) gour: not to mention that latest Pro Blog for C5 did complete mess with my site making it almost unusable for ~1month until its dev (3rd party) finally reproduced the bug (archives showing last 3 instead of 15 months)
is founder still using it? marclaporte: no
He was active only about 1 year gour: ahh...too bad he could not experience in full what the project is all about ;) marclaporte: hehe, I still hope he comes back one day :-)
Yeah, I prefer business model around services than code, because you can't have collaboration around commercial plugins
The Tiki license (LGPL) is lenient here, and some people did try a long time ago, but other developers would just redo as FOSS code :-) gour: as far as VCS in tiki which you mentioned yesterday, i'm not sure i'm thrilled with the idea...bzr is dead, hg is not the quickest always which leaves us with (D)VCS-es in C (git, svn, fossil)...even monotone in c++ was too slow
i fully agree and consider it's more noble to 'sell' services arildb_: joined #tikiwiki marclaporte: For VCS in Tiki: I am not entertaining to eventually dogfood for main Tiki code base (That would be nuts) This is just for very small projects/communities that are already using Tiki and have 10-20-30 files to manage. And mostly to have web-based commits and to replace sending patches via email. And it's to avoid the overhead of setting up another system, and dealing with hosting/logins, etc. So maintaining a Tiki theme for example. gour: marclaporte: hmm...now i got it...fossil could be great for such stuff - see this thread http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.version-control.fossil-scm.user/10374 arildb__: joined #tikiwiki marclaporte: gour: http://doc.tiki.org/Screencast is going to be a little revolution in our bug tracker
gour: I like the single file aspect of Fossil gour: marclaporte: you're really driving fast this tiki-car
me too..Fossil is very capable & powerful dvcs although quite easy to use for non-savvy users...unlike git -: gour like fossi'l simplicity gour: the best dvcs which i used was(is) darcs with very simple model not requiring to think a lot how it works, but one can just use it...however, it had its own haskell-related problems, but after it, fossil is the best tool, imho
