The good news is that they use the same open culture that powers jquery and tiki, and I've found out how to add a quick event in that allows us to tie into the system nearly exactly like ckeditor.
So I've shown my code to their devs, and am awaiting their reply. With ckeditor I've not gotten so much as a reply when talking with them, with aloha, the devs are all over viral interest.
Woohoo! arildb: RobertPlummer: what aloha has, without additions, is already very good, I assuming we can save changes Tiki|bot: joined #tikiwiki RobertPlummer: arildb: join the discussion - https://getsatisfaction.com/aloha_editor/topics/can_aloha_editor_be_used_as_an_xml_editor fabricius: RobertPlummer arildb - I did not get too much of this discussion the recent days ... is it about switching from CKE to Aloha? arildb: fabricius: Not as I see it, no. But it seems to be an excellent "audit" tool RobertPlummer: fabricius: Unfortunately yes, at least for jison. CKE destroys tons of content on load time and they contenteditable isn't built to recognized by children, so we have tons of problems listing plugins directly out on the page.
arildb: ^
fabricius: We are just testing it right now, and seeing about getting proper licensing. arildb: "audit" may be the wrong word, but it is editing the content of existing pages. Not creating new ones fabricius: I just looked to the discussion ... RobertPlummer: arildb: I don't see how they are different. fabricius: you linked robert luciash: proper licensing ?
it is BSD = LGPL compatible RobertPlummer: luciash: I know, but marclaporte and I want to make sure we are ok luciash: ok fabricius: RobertPlummer: a few days ago I looked at an aloha demo ... is it imaginable to gat some simultaneous editing with it? RobertPlummer: luciash: Also, I don't want to push something onto the tiki community fabricius: RobertPlummer: thinking towards tTikipad" arildb: fabricius: When I tried the aloa editor, I did not see an obvious way to create new elements. Also the aloha edit onsy support a subset of html RobertPlummer: fabricius: I have it working locally, it loads up, it doesn't save yet, wanted to get some dev feedback on the modifications I've done to events.
fabricius: No toolbar integration yet. luciash: arildb: u mean new editable area on the page ? whole page can be editable area, no ? fabricius: arildb: when I tried, I could not even save ... but think, that might be cause it was demo RobertPlummer: fabricius: tTikipad? arildb: luciash: yes, elements all over the page can be edited, it seems
fabricius: yes, I think the missing save was the demo setup RobertPlummer: arildb: They documentation is a bit out of date, they support a bit more at this point. luciash: arildb: u add new element by typing and selecting from the toolbar to format it
afaics arildb: luciash: could be. Anyhow there is the issue about the aloha editor not supporting all tags...though I am not completely sure what that implies. fabricius: RobertPlummer: "Tikipad" would be AWESOME ... imagine: simultaneous editing a wikipage with WYSIWYG-Wiki like it was an "Etherpad" ... realtime collaboration
