joelCOEHi all
Again a "little" question...
We would like to hide some stuff using the "flipperidFood" to use with the titles, such as !-Text to hide
Currently, we are using the CSS to add some text before the little "+"
But this is an issue to just have this little sign to contract/expand the text under a heading...
Our users might just never see it
Is there some possibility to change this ? Like to hack the code somewhere easily so we can put some translatable text ?

help, I'm beeing overrun by spam accounts. My site is new, has little content, 4 visitors per day or so, you could it is inactive. And I already get 5 or 6 new spam users everyday. I have mail activation and recaptcha activated, but still...

danny-orionjoined #tikiwiki
Evening, anybody live tonight?
I've been trying to enable the banner feature - but any attempt to use the "create" button just hangs. I've been seeing a lot of "Undefined variable: tiki_p_admin" recently.
I've got a fairly large db and site (orionrobots.co.uk) so I don't fancy recreating it.
[22:00]
arildbdanny-orion: which version of Tiki are you running? [22:02]
danny-orion1.10 I think - let me just double check. [22:03]
marclaportejoined #tikiwiki [22:03]
danny-orionYes - 1.10. [22:04]
arildbdanny-orion: it's been a while since your last upgrade, I believe [22:04]
danny-orionThe db has been carried through a number of versions - it's been a tiki site for years. [22:04]
arildbdanny-orion: this goes way back before I first saw Tiki. [22:05]
danny-orionI upgraded a few weeks ago. [22:05]
arildbto 1.10?
or 10.1?
[22:05]
danny-orion10.0 [22:06]
arildbah [22:06]
danny-orionIsn't that synonym for 1.10.0?
Thats the end of december release.
[22:06]
arildbnot AFAIK [22:06]
danny-orionHmmm...No sorry - it is me - I mean 10.0 [22:07]
arildbI am also using 10, and occationally visit the banners. I haven't seen any problems. Is upgrading to 10.1 (and hope for a fix) and alternative? [22:07]
danny-orionPerhaps so. I am wandering if having upgraded through many has left something in my db in a dodgy state - ie where the tiki_p_admin variable is being taken from. [22:08]
arildb_joined #tikiwiki [22:10]
danny-orionWhat is also odd is that version 9.0 is being offered as a major upgrade to version 10.0... [22:18]
marclaportedanny-orion: yes, odd
danny-orion: nice to see you back!
[22:21]
danny-orionThis is in a notification bar in the admin page.
I've been around, but busy.
It took me a while to get orionrobots upgraded - mostly I was worried about some deprecated features - hopefully a script to migrate image galleries to file galleries will be around soon..
[22:21]
marclaportedanny-orion: yes, Update Notifier was revamped in Tiki10, and was wonky before that and not built to deal with our LTS versions (and now, we have doubled support period for LTS)
danny-orion: AFAIK, you should never lose any data.
[22:22]
danny-orionAh.I may see about getting regular updates - hopefully it won't mean quite so many css changes to keep the theme up to date. It started off as a modified planetfall.. [22:23]
marclaporteYour theme will break for sure, thoug
Your theme will break for sure, though
[22:24]
danny-orionI've not lost anything yet- although I'm trying to find ways to incorporate stuff I'd previously built custom plugins for. [22:24]
marclaporteImage Galleries are intended to be merged in with File Galleries but this will likely happen after File Gallery Revamp: http://dev.tiki.org/File+Gallery+Revamp
custom plugins will need updating to new plugin infra (from like Tiki3 or Tiki4)
[22:25]
danny-orionAh. I am trying to get what used to be in my googlebar mod to work in the banners feature...
I've pretty much abandoned those plugins - I did intend to get them into tiki svn - but never found time to do it - hence throwing them into that tiki enhance repo...
[22:25]
marclaporteok, now is the time!!
arildb: FYI, Tiki 1.10 was never released and became 2.0
[22:26]
danny-orionPossibly - although if the banner is simple as pasting in the google generated code - it could be a perfectly elegant solution. [22:27]
arildbmarclaporte: ok...way before my time [22:27]
danny-orionSame with amazon code.
I think I may have started using tiki on a 0.x version - 2004ish.
[22:27]
marclaporteWhen branch 1.10 started, it was not thought that it would be a big release but back then, we didn't have a 6-month schedule so 1.10 was developped for something like 3 years, and thus, by the end, it was quite a big change, thus, the name change to 2.0 [22:28]
danny-orionI can't really remember - only that this database has been upgraded many times - it weighs in at 180Mb when dumped and zipped at the mo - there are a couple of unnecessary files in the gallery though - that may drop that a bit.
Ah - I was on 1.9 for a long time - I think I may have leapt from 1.9 to 10.0.
brb
[22:29]
marclaporteThen, we decided to never again have such a long time between releases. 6 months was picked as the magic number
That was the single most important / best decision ever made in Tiki (to changed to a fixed release cycle)
[22:30]
arildb_joined #tikiwiki [22:31]
marclaportemarclaporte has some sites on 1.9.x and wants to record a video of how easy the upgrade is.... [22:31]
manubleft #tikiwiki [22:31]
danny-orionAh
That is a good idea. 6 months - and I take it there are also minor bugfix releases(hence 10.1)?
[22:37]
marclaporteyup [22:38]
danny-orionMostly the upgrade was easy - just updating the styles and templates took a while... I think the result was better than my original though. [22:38]
marclaportePlease see: http://info.tiki.org/Version+Lifecycle [22:38]
danny-orionGlad to see the image->file migration is thinking about URL's - that would be a pain to do manually.
I could probably script something myself - but it is all a matter of how much time to put in.
So yes - this thing offering major upgrade to 9.0 is odd:"Version 10.0 is no longer supported. A minor upgrade to 10.1 is required. Version 10.1 is still supported. However, a major upgrade to 9.0 is available."
[22:39]
marclaportedanny-orion: thanks for reporting this issue. It will be fixed shortly [22:41]
danny-orionAh - gotcha. [22:41]
marclaporteas for image galleries: just continue using them, they work just as well as before
and when the merge happens, you can be beta tester?
[22:42]
danny-orionThe main problem is the banners thing - to which I wander if this is related: "PHP Notice: Undefined variable: tiki_p_admin in /home1/orionrob/public_html/main_site/lib/setup/error_reporting.php on line 12"
Ok - I've a test site to try such things...
[22:42]
So being an old site - there are a few oddities about the way it is set up - my host - currently bluehost is setup in such a way that subdomains are usually subdirs of the main site - which makes upgrading things a nuisance...
I've put the main site into a main_site subdir, and then done a bit of .htaccess poking to make it (mostly) work.
[22:48]
I've also been slowly looking at configs that are different to defaults -and making sure I can jsutify to myself why they are different - if there's no good reason - then generally I suspect the default prefs will lead to fewer problems. [22:56]
marclaportedanny-orion: agreed
danny-orion: and before, there was no way to know what the default was
[23:03]
danny-orionYes - the little green arrows are rather handy to highlight these things.
So - any idea what that PHP notice above is? I suspect on my site I probably shouldn't have error reporting enabled - but will that then drop php errors to the log still or just silent fail?
By the way -as an alternative to continuing with the googlebar mod - if I can make it work in banners - I'd be happy to write a bit of wiki blurb on how I did it. I've currently got a google site claim thing going in the custom header code too - the upgrades have made these things far easier without needing to write plugins.
[23:04]
marclaportedunno about that error, but yes, many things can now be done in the admin panel
danny-orion: here is the place to link the new doc to: http://doc.tiki.org/Interoperability
what does Googlebar mod do?
[23:19]
danny-orionThere is something here - http://doc.tiki.org/AdSense
It was a template which substituted adsense parameters (meaning you had to pull them out of google code by hand) in a template and I think it was used as a module.
I turned it off for a while - so there has been no ad's on orionrobots for months...
[23:20]
Ok - age old debugging method - I am stuffing lots of error_log (ie printf's) into tiki-edit_banner.php - to see where it gets to before hanging/failing... [23:29]
marclaportedanny-orion: will this be your first commit? [23:36]
danny-orionI'm sure I've made commits before..
Can't remember what it was - ages ago...
[23:37]
marclaporteyou have commit access: http://sourceforge.net/users/orionrobots [23:37]
danny-orionAnyway - if I fix it - yes - I'll commit the changes [23:37]
marclaportebut http://tiki.org/copyright.txt doesn't have a record
nor does https://www.ohloh.net/p/tikiwiki/contributors?query=orion&sort=commits
[23:37]
danny-orionAh. Maybe not then.
I thought I'd committed some fix - but it would have been many years back if I did.
Perhaps it would be my first.
[23:38]
marclaportesome commit stats could be lost because of abandoned experimental branch
anyway, it's a new beginning :-)
[23:39]
danny-orionhehe :) [23:39]
I'd had a big problem with bogus user registrations - which the upgrade and a few tweaks seem to have calmed right down. [23:45]
arildb_joined #tikiwiki [23:47]
danny-orionOkay - and related to this (and why I mentioned it) - that script is getting stuck at the following line: $clients = $userlib->get_users(0, -1, 'login_asc', ''); [23:52]
