I'm looking for help on installation.
I installed 10.0 and ended up with internal server errors on install, server check AND permission check. I'm currently downloading 10.1 and hoping that this new install will be different. Anyone had something similar?

joelCOE: Hi Pedor, as far as I know, you can edit the smarty template of the article plugin and put a copy to override the orignal in your template/style/YourStyle/ folder !

kstingel: in the interests of minimising Tiki's file count ... when packaging external libraries (like Smarty for example), do we need the whole package, or could we omit the demo folder?

tikiwiki [REF] userfiles: Move code for get_user_gallery_name into a function and fix for nested user galleries
jonnyb: hi kstingel - yes, i'say removing smarty demo would be good, we never had it before afaik (same for Zend etc)
kstingel: ... I've already trimmed Zend :)
jonnyb: super - there were complaints ;)
kstingel: before or after I trimmed it?
all the 'new' packages are available from Tiki's private Composer repo .... http://packages.kstingel.com
.... as I tidy up the current packages (and package current externals) I'm adding them there and updating ks-composer.json to reflect changes :)
am not touching ckeditor4 until I get the go ahead that it's been finished .... since there were missing pieces that had to be added back in
jonnyb: zend still seems to have demos etc in it - over 300MB here (in trunk)
i thought the point of using composer was so that we don;t need to maintain copies of all the 3rd party libs we use, no?
i think duplicating all that work seems like a bad idea (i'm afraid) kstingel
kstingel: not duplicating as such ... I'm using the current externals (where we have modified) to create the archives to load into the composer repo and once tested, we can then remove the external from third_party
for any libraries already available through packagist ... I'm testing to get them as concise as possible ... I figure Tiki doesn't need all the docs for included libs, so we can optimise our packing by removing those files
... and I'm happy to repeat the packaging process when we need to update an external library :)
... or write a script that will do it for me (eventually)

kstingel: I'm practising my packaging on our other externals
jonnyb: nice to hear - i don't mean to put you off but have seen lots of people come and go from tiki
the ckeditor4 package is weird - i'm thinking they might re-address it for use in other projects (or maybe 4.0 is just buggy)
kstingel: I'm looking to use Tiki as my RPL if I decide to resume Uni Studies ... so you guys are stuck with me for life devil
besides ... it irritates Mum no end biggrin ... I keep telling her I'm too busy working on Tiki when I don't want to go to her place
... she has an irritating habit of summoning me on Wednesday of webinar week
next trip, I'm gonna show her the page where I'm listed in the Sec Team ... and tell her I got promoted from "coder/debugger"
I need to know what all our externals handle anyway .... else I won't be able to get our ePub writer done ...
jonnyb: nice :)
kstingel: I'm trying to create a direct Tiki -> ePub writer -- I'm kinda allergic to PDFs, so I want Tiki to be ePub capable
PDF = predefined font size = me squinting at teeny print ...
ePub = flexible font size = I can read "books"
ricks99: +100
kstingel: lol @ ricks99
it's amazing what cataract surgery can do ... especially when the surgen botches the 'new' lenses and fogets I had astigmatism
plus PDFs were (originally) an Adobe thing I believe ... and all their stuff is waaaaaay over priced
ricks99: pdfs were designed as a way to (cheaply) move paper from one physical location to another (e.g., cross country)
kstingel: they can still have their uses ... for fixed layouts they're really good, but if you want to offer flexibility and usability, they're severely limited ...
to make small fonts readable, you need to resize the whole page, which then means you're scrolling left and right as well as up and down to read the book
to be fair though ... I'd still rather carry 21 PDFs than 21 Programming text books
but 21 ePubs is even better
ricks99: yup.
pdfs are still the easiest way to send paper long distances
kstingel: and they're good for forms
back in a bit ... the Coffee Gremlin found my cup again :(

kstingel: I'm running XAMPP and I get 2 PHP errors upon running tiki-check.php ... both 'errors' occur because iis_properties is not set ...
should tiki-check.php initialize this var (as well as apache_properties) to an empty string to start with, and then overwrite with values depending on which server Tiki is running on?
Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03jonnybradley r45074 10trunk/ 10templates/tiki-upload_file.tpl 10tiki-upload_file.php
tikiwiki [ENH] userfiles: More on revamp of permission for userfiles in filegals - upload changes at it doesn't obey get_perm_object() perms
kstingel: my apologies ... they are both E_NOTICEs, not ERRORs
another packaging question ... do we need to have a full PEAR install as part of Tiki, or would it be enough to just include the specific packages we use?
jonnyb: kstingel: PEAR is huge, so just the ones we already have i guess
& the E_NOTICEs in tiki-check should be fixed anyway i'd have thought - keep it tidy :)
kstingel: I'm just checking if we need the ones we have now .... it looks to me like we ran go-pear.phar at some stage to get a basic PEAR ... will run some tests and see if we need it all
most likely, if we did run go-pear.phar ... it was done a fair ways back, when pear wasn't always available by default
