ricks99: Anyone know if it is possible to do a mailmerge with TikiSheet + Newsletter ?
polom jonnyb
jonnyb: hi ricks99
you can do a mail-merge with pretty trackers into newsletters, so maybe
if you can get the sheet to list out in a "plain-text" sort of way
ricks99: hmm... export specific column in tikisheet then import into tracker?
ill look into it. thanks
jonnyb: no, maybe you can get the sheet plugin to list why you need, then use that page as the data source
ricks99: ah... even cleaner
jonnyb: it was something i added for Geoff ages ago, not sure if it still works
ricks99: but for your interface, was using tracker as source?
Bsfez: joined #tikiwiki
ricks99: okeefe
oops
jonnyb: no, wiki page
"Import emails from wiki page"
ricks99: is there something on dev or doc?
jonnyb: probably, Geoff's quite good with that sort of thing (unlike me)
ricks99: o. that i've seen. but i want to send via newsletter (with personalization)
i'll look. thanks
jonnyb: that bit just gets an email list from a page, only half the story i guess
Bsfez: newsletter exploration is interesting me
ricks99: yeah, what i really want is a way to send mass, customzied emails
was thinking of some sort of newsletter template...
that uses cell refs...
Dear {%name cell from tiki sheet%}
something like a real mailmerge ^^^
jonnyb: think that's what he was doing but from a tracker - not sure, sorry
ricks99: thanks
Bsfez: {module} in newsletter do a lot !
i recall seen something working about having username included
(very very long time ago)
jonnyb: hi Bsfez - meeting soon in BBB?
Bsfez: yeap yeap !
-: ricks99 wants a real mailmerge solution w/ tikisheets + newsletters
Bsfez: 10 mn
-: ricks99 hoping to sneak it in 10.2 without bsfez noticing ;-)
jonnyb: :D
Bsfez: i'm very cool in that matter...
ricks99: :)
Bsfez: what will you send if i may know… i mean what purpose ? tikisheet ?
trade ? :D
ricks99: project has an old xls spreadsheet for contacts. have imported to tikisheet and now using that
want to be able to send targeted mails (via newsletter) to specific contacts
with personalizaton
"stanard" mailmerge stuff, really
Bsfez: Mmm ok, wasn't it better to include the list as users so you will have username, email, real name and may be later we can have a lot more ! (like country, language, etc)
?
ricks99: list is not tiki users
Bsfez: 5mn countdown
yes but list can be imported
ricks99: the list of contacts dont have/need tiki accounts. they're not the users
Bsfez: k
and having a way to import list => newsletter subscribers (including some fields)...
best would be having a "contact feature"… address book (base on sheet or tracker)
3mn
we'll talk at the tikifeast ! :D
ricks99: y, but really more than simply contacts. was using XLS for full back-end accounting, billing, etc. with complex multisheet forumulas
+1 tikifest. i'm nowat 75% :)
Bsfez: GOOD !

hello there. I'm trying to open/edit an odf document (odt), but it doesn't seem to be working at all. I've clicked 'edit' and the page shows "loading tiki-download_file.php?fileId=5" forever
anyone confirms that webodf is working?
I installed tiki mostly because of this feature.
jonnyb: hi budanzel - edit only edits in svg-edit, so just drawings
noticed that label the other day - should be clearer
budanzel: jonnyb: i'm talking about webodf
i've installed it, uploaded a odt file, and it just refuses to work
activated*
firebug debugger doesn't show any error
jonnyb: not used that i'm afraid - looks like they both might have the same label (save dev did them i think)
brb
b
budanzel: also, it doesn't even show the view action for ods files, even if webodt supports it (odt, odp, ods).
I think this feature is broken.
jonnyb: sorry budanzel, never tried it
budanzel: jonnyb: no problem.
however, tiki lacks quality. No offense, it's awesome and I don't want to disrespect anyone, after all it's opensource and free. But on a 'constructive critic' side, i must say that the webmail feature is not usable at all (no imap+encryption, no 'sent' folder, no folders in fact, can't open/donwload attachment, can't forward attachments) and there are a lot of nonfunctional stuff.
teh google doc plugin doesn't work also

budanzel: any info on webodf?
marclaporte: budanzel: yes
budanzel: what is on your mind?
budanzel: marclaporte: does it support ods atm?
the file listings doesn't display the view action for ods files
in fact not even odt are working atm, but at least the actions are there (view/edit)
marclaporte: budanzel: WebDOF integration is very very basic
but promising for the future
which version are you on?
budanzel: marclaporte: 10.1
i thought this feature were stable already
marclaporte: also, i've read the dev page on webmail (the actual one really sucks :D ) and i've noticed you can't integrate gpl licensed stuff, why?
the current one*
marclaporte: because we are LGPL
WebODF integration was "state of the art" (sorta) when we first integrated but WebODF evolve quite a bit but nobody has upgraded in Tiki
I refreshed http://demo.tiki.org/10x/tiki-index.php -> Can we try your file here?
budanzel: the ods?
marclaporte: yes
budanzel: it seems there's another ods file there already, and it doesn't show the view action, i'm going to upload mine in any case
marclaporte: http://doc.tiki.org/Screencast and http://doc.tiki.org/Draw are more robust integrations than WebMail and WebODF
budanzel: strangely, my file is shown as zip.
marclaporte: WebODF: we just need a dev to do a bit more work. 1- get latest code from WebODF project and 2- add some buttons to make the UI more obvious (save, edit, download)
budanzel: try a .odt
budanzel: it works :)
also, the google doc plugin is very easy to fix, it uses an iframe and the problem is just the address is wrong.
i'm much more interested in this webodf though :)
marclaporte: hehe
budanzel: I hope it gets usable soon.
marclaporte: thank you for your time
marclaporte: ok, well, start with the easy fix :-)
budanzel: :)
marclaporte: what is your SourceForge username?
budanzel: marclaporte: none :)
marclaporte: So WebODF should work on odt, odf and ods, but Tiki only detects odt Needs a little tweak to detect format and launch WebODF in all three cases
ok, this is a good time to get one
budanzel: sure it is.
marclaporte: and if you can find a jQuery webmail front-end that could replace what we have, that would be awesome. Last time I looked, I didn't find anything
GillesM: joined #tikiwiki
changi: budanzel: if you have the correct url i can fix it
marclaporte: On the back-end, we have http://framework.zend.com/manual/1.12/en/zend.mail.html so we should be OK
Here are examples of front-ends: https://code.google.com/p/svg-edit/ https://code.google.com/p/jquerysheet/ http://arshaw.com/fullcalendar/ http://elfinder.org/
budanzel: changi: i've quickly fixed it with firebug, but i've already closed the tab. just a moment please.
changi: budanzel: ok
marclaporte: budanzel: http://demo.tiki.org/10x/tiki-edit_docs.php?fileId=5 works
budanzel: marclaporte: yes, that's an odt file. odts seems to be working flaslessly, they aren't working in my local install though
marclaporte: budanzel: what is your OS?
budanzel: marclaporte: linux CentOS
hehe, i've tried to load tiki-edit_docs.php?fileId=1 (id1 is an ods file) but it refuses to work :). I knew it woudn't be that easy
marclaporte: ahhahaha
ok, visit tiki-check.php on your instance
let's see if there are tips
budanzel: ok. just a moment please.
marclaporte: I suspect you don't have fileinfo.
budanzel: nope, it's loaded in fact.
marclaporte: "strangely, my file is shown as zip." I have a vague recollection about this
ok, do you see any warnings?
budanzel: nope, the only 'unknown' on upload_tmp_dir

Recent Bug: Tracker item: #4398 - - LdaP External Groups Being Flagged as Internal - http://dev.tiki.org/item4398
budanzel: everything else, is good/safe
marclaporte: can you turn off fileinfo just to see?
budanzel: marclaporte: sure.
it seems the extension is enabled globally, can i disable it in the local php.ini?
anyway, I don't think that's the problem, because it shows the display/edit actions, it seems to fail to load it somehow.
even though in firebug the webodt script seems to load the data properly
is http://demo.tiki.org/10x/tiki-edit_docs.php?fileId=5 working? It's not working for me any longer. both firefox and chrome
Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Unable to post comments in blog - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=46280
changi: budanzel: working for me with chrome
budanzel: changi: yes, it's working here also, it just took a lot of time to load.
changi: in fact, the googledoc plugin is working, the problem wasn't the url but the bad parameters generated from the gui button (spreadsheet instead of sheet, etc.)
what isn't working is the 'edit' button
in this case the url is wrong.
it points to 'http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=XYZ' instead of 'https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=XYZ'

changi: fixing your url problem :)
budanzel: lil' test :D http://demo.tiki.org/10x/tiki-index.php?page=googledoc+test
changi: awesome news :D
changi: budanzel: in fact the old url is working for me
budanzel: changi: to edit?
the published version url is like https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=, the editable is like https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=
changi: budanzel: no the link on googledoc is working for me
budanzel: yes, the old url seems to work fine. the problem is the GUI button.
but the url to edit the document isn't working
changi: budanzel: ok find where it was, (sorry i'm a little slow tonight)
budanzel: in this case the url is /ccc and not /pub (/pub is just an html version of the document)

marclaporte: budanzel: ok, but next time, you commit directly stuff like this :-) (which is why we need your SourceForge.net username)
budanzel: marclaporte: yes, sure I will. :)
changi: also, i've added you to the doc permissions.
another problem easy to fix is the google docs GUI button.
changi: budanzel: what do you mean ?
budanzel: changi: you've requested permission to use the spreadsheet.
changi: budanzel: about the GUI button !
budanzel: changi: the gui button for google doc plugin generates wrong code
changi: could you be more precise ?
budanzel: here: http://demo.tiki.org/10x/tiki-index.php?page=googledoc+test the bottom one is the one generated by the gui button, the parameter type is "spreadsheet", it doesn't work, the proper one is only "sheet"
by "gui button" i mean that button on the editor toolbar
Bsfez: joined #tikiwiki
changi: budanzel: i don't see it
budanzel: changi: don't see what?
changi: the gui button
budanzel: http://demo.tiki.org/10x/tiki-editpage.php?page=googledoc+test, on the first row.
you have to be logged of course
changi: ok now i see it :)
budanzel: in fact, the code reads "speadsheet" :)
lemme see if "spReadsheet" works
yes, it works, in this case it's only a simple typo
the button generated code has a typo - "speadsheet", not "spReadsheet"
changi: budanzel: fixed
budanzel: nice. it's a pity tiki wiki can't integrate gpl'ed stuff. it would be awesome to have something like roundcube :(

marclaporte: budanzel: well, RoundCube license is not simple
budanzel: marclaporte: I see. they have mixed licenses
marclaporte: http://roundcube.net/license
yeah
I don't want people to make bad design choices to respect licenses
budanzel: anyway, there are plenty of alternatives, they are all gpl'ed though :)
marclaporte: well, if something fits, we can ask the authors about the license
for example, IMP webmail did a lot of work on v5: http://www.horde.org/apps/imp/roadmap
They are moving to jQuery Mobile: http://www.horde.org/papers/MergingHordeJQM.pdf
We are using jQuery Mobile since Tiki7
budanzel: horde is another good groupware
in fact, I was trying to install it instead tiki :).
it's impossible to install though
so I gave up
I'm using roundcube at the moment however, because the tiki webmail is unusable.
changi: marclaporte: i've just tested the jquery-migrate tool, we have a lot to do :(
budanzel: changi: good gee. are you an aircraft pilot? :)
changi: budanzel: no, why ?
budanzel: you look like an aviator in the picture of your google account :)
changi: budanzel: yep you're right, it was a gift. It's pretty cool
budanzel: awesome
marclaporte: changi: oh!
budanzel: yeah, webmail needs some TLC...
-: marclaporte wonders if we should merge webmail and messages
budanzel: what do you mean by 'merge'?
like, use the messages interface for email stuff?
marclaporte: use common code for both
so interface is similar
and it's presumably less work to maintain
And depending on permissions, a user could be allowed to use one, the other, or both
changi: how many things to change?
changi: attr => prop, upgrade most of our jquery plugin to be compatible
like colorbox / superfish
the most problematic is attr('checked') and live which are used all arround the code
marclaporte: i can start doing it in trunk if you want. but tomorrow.
need to sleep
see ya

new to tikiwiki. Is a tikiwiki installation tied to a specific domain name, or just relative paths? What do I need to change in the db or config to move an installation from one domain name to another?
