Hello
Is there anyone currently online that knows TikiWiki?
off luciash: hi jonathan2260 jonathan2260: Hi
Do you know how to use TikiWiki well Luciash?
I'm looking for a way to get a share folder link to work in TikiWiki. luciash: share folder link ? what folder ? jonathan2260: Windows share folder
\serverfolder[19:03] luciash ah luciash: in intranet ? jonathan2260: I want to be able to click a link and open to the folder or file depending on the case.
No on the internal network where I work. luciash: try file:\ jonathan2260: I'm trying to use TikiWiki as a knowledge base.
I did but it doesn't seem to work. luciash: or file://C:pathtothefolder
or file://C:/path/to/the/folder
ah, three ///
file:///C:/Users/ wrks in my FF browser jonathan2260: It's not on the local C drive. luciash: but if it is shared it must be some path on your local hadr drive jonathan2260: So Woudl that mean file://///path/to/folder
?
Nope. It's a shared file on a server.
We have multiple servers with shared folders at my location.
That's one reason to make a knowledge base so we have an easy way to keep track of where we keep the files and folders.
For various issues. luciash: yes, file://///server/folder
but it is not very Tiki specific question ;) jonathan2260: Well, still hope you can help me wit this. This is the only thing I really need to figure out before I go ahead and start using Tiki with my office.
Now I assume the way I need to add it in I must use braquets.
Ex: [file://///server/path/to/folder/] luciash: I hope we already figured that out
yes jonathan2260: But it doesn't work. luciash: it must be double if you do not want to supply a text
[file://///server/path/to/folder/|text]
[file://///server/path/to/folder/|file://///server/path/to/folder/]
or make a special external wiki link - set it up on Admin > External wikis
see http://doc.tiki.org/external wikis Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03jonnybradley r45295 10trunk/lib/filegals/filegallib.php
tikiwiki [FIX] filegals: Galleries with parentId of -1 no longer appear anywhere, so use the "normal" filegal root id (N.B. other types of gallery, userfiles and wiki attachments, need to set this specifically) jonathan2260: I just tried to supply the text portion like you do and it doesn't either.
I'm looking at the ext link now. luciash: jonathan2260: can you confirm file://///server/path/to/folder/ works when you put it in your browser adress bar directly ? jonathan2260: That seems to be more for linking to another wiki external to mine like Wikipedia.
Sure, gimme me a sec to try. luciash: you can use anything you specify in the external
not only another wikis
$page will be substituted what you put after the prefix: jonathan2260: Ok, I can confirm that adding it to the address bar works. ricks99: what's the error u get when you click the link from within tiki? jonathan2260: None, It doesn't open up.
I do see a yellow symbol at the bottom with an exclamation point.
And the link minus a few // ricks99: right-click the link from tiki and select COPY. paste it in address bar of a new browser. does the link work? jonathan2260: file://server/path/to/folder/ luciash: what browser ?
I tried with Firefox jonathan2260: That works.
IE8.
I also have Chrome and that doesn't work either. luciash: aye :-/ ricks99: ah.... check your browser security. luciash: cannot test that, only IE9 here ricks99: there's something in there about linking to server locations (trusted vs non-trusted) dbalieiro: joined #tikiwiki jonathan2260: Humm. Of course being in a corporate environment, I do not have the ability to add a trusted site.
But I would think that Chrome would work at the least. Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03jonnybradley r45296 03trunk/installer/schema/20130322_restore_lost_filegals_tiki.sql
tikiwiki [FIX] filegals: Galleries with parentId of -1 no longer appear anywhere, so update them to 1 which usually is fgal_root_id jonathan2260: Now in a simple text wiki I was using for myself I had been able to just add a link such as: <a href="\serverpathtofolder" target="_blank">link</a>
So I did consider using the HTML plugin as so: {HTML()}<a href="\serverpathtofolder" target="_blank">link</a>{HTML}
That didn't work either.
Is my syntax good to use the plugin?
I'm on Tiki10.1 in case that's important. Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03jonnybradley r45297 10trunk/lib/payment/paypallib.php
tikiwiki [FIX] payment: Add "Tiki lang" to "PayPal locale" map function (some are a bit of a guess). Usage to come... ricks99: should b. maybe do a test with a tiki html page.
seems like the [file:/ link shoudl work fine tho) luciash: jonathan2260: if that text wiki was local file run, not on a server, that might work because these restrictions apply only to links from servers it seems Nikhar: joined #tikiwiki luciash: i can confirm it does not work from my demo server jonathan2260: Ok. Well, it really would be nice if there was a way to get that to work. I know I've been able to get it do function on other wikis such as MediaWiki.
But Tiki seems to have nice features I would like to exploit in the long run. Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03nkoth r45298 10trunk/tiki-send_mail.php
tikiwiki [FIX] If admin validation is on, and user has been approved, resend email does not go to user jonathan2260: Silly question. Could it be a security feature that needs to be set to off for the link to work? Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03nkoth r45299 10branches/10.x/tiki-send_mail.php

tikiwiki [ENH] payment: New PayPal button wiki plugin.
tikiwiki Currently will do: "add to cart" and "buy now" (donate etc to come), will work with the PayPal payment prefs (or without).
tikiwiki Most common button params supported and it will use the minicart javascript plugin if it is found (to be added to Tiki if/when they dual license it, soon hopefully) jonathan2260: For instance. I know that Mediawiki has a localsettings file to edit to permit certain things. Does Tiki have something similar that needs to be tweaked? ricks99: no. can you look at the html source from the generated wiki page, and post the generated <a href ... > link?
want to first verify that it is build properly Tiki-KGB: tikiwiki 03nkoth r45301 10branches/9.x/tiki-send_mail.php

sorry jonathan2260: Ok, just to be clear. my client PC is a W7, the server I am running Tiki is running Linux. luciash: yeh, the client matters ricks99: thx luciash luciash: Tiki has no powers to change anything about that afaik

That works. Is it normal that it opens in the browser instead of opening in Windows Explorer? luciash: jonathan2260: yes, normal
jonathan2260: only IE does that behavior afaik
jonathan2260: i would not say humm, I would jump luckily ;) jonathan2260: I am happy that we have a solution. I'm just wondering how I'm gonna arrange for everyone that would use the wiki to make use of it. dbalieiro: joined #tikiwiki jonathan2260: IE is the standard in the corporation.
I do appreciate the effort. Don' get me wrong. luciash: no idea. maybe you will google something simmilar for IE. I mam not using that crap much...
*I am not jonathan2260: I don't blame you.
For not using IE. :) luciash: jonathan2260: and I do not blame you for (having) to use it ;) jonathan2260: Hehe. I do. :)
Silly question. Can this be submitted somehow to the developpers of Tiki to try to improve it? I can't be the only one in a situation like this that would like to have an easier time setting this up. luciash: We can improve it in documentation only. There is no way Tiki software could do anything about it. jonathan2260: I can imagine many just giving up and not even asking to have this corrected. luciash: Even _you_ can help. jonathan2260: It's rather suprising. I would have at least thought that using the HTML plug would be able to solve the problem. luciash: It is a wiki way: doc.tiki.org
As it is browser's security precaution I do not see it as much surprising as it sounds. jonathan2260: Considering that mediawiki is capable of this. There must be a way. luciash: Hmm, I do not know mediawiki, sorry. Maybe they use some workaround which uses something else like flash or java or ... no clues. jonathan2260: I doubt it would be a flash workaround.
Java? Possible I suppose.
Luciash. Are you a Tiki developer? luciash: yes jonathan2260: Ah. I was thinking so but wasn't feeling sure.
Thanks for all the help. luciash: btw, there seems to be plugin for Chrome to allow local links too (if that helps)
np, you are welcome
(it is called LocalLinks)
bbl jonathan2260: I guess I can start to use Tiki this way but I do hope I can get you to consider how to get that option to work. I think it's a small feature but would make a big difference for getting internal corporations to consider Tiki.
Thanks, I'll look into local links.
I think I did see an ext for Firefox local links too. fabricius: joined #tikiwiki cwik: joined #tikiwiki
Hey all! I want to have a menu module which shows the content of a structure to only show up when the user is navigating that specific structure. e.g., user is in structure X, only sees structure menu for structure X, and when user is in structure Y, they see structure menu for Y.
I want to avoid using categories if possible, as I want global perms to apply to all structures. Considering using perspectives... I was mostly wondering what the "Section" option under module appearance settings is. you can set it so the module only shows for X category, or X perspective, but what is "section"? Does anyone know?
*sorry, it is in the "visibility
" tab, not appearance dbalieiro: joined #tikiwiki Bsfez: joined #tikiwiki Caarrie: joined #tikiwiki luciash: cwik: section is old feature making difference on which "section" you are feature-wise (Forums, Blogs, Wiki pages, etc.) cwik: luciash: Thanks, that helps.
