hi xavi
xavi: anyone with the ability to change the channel topic?
hi jonny@irc
jonnyb: not i, i'm afraid - luciash i think but he's away
xavi: ok
ricks99: polom y'all
-: xavi should learn how to do that (and request perms to be able to do it)
jonnyb: hi ricks99 too
xavi: hi ricks99
jonnyb: thanks for the comms on the new releases (as always ;) )
ricks99: thnx to all devs!
xavi: :-)
ricks99: hows your weather jonnyb? recovering from stroms?
jonnyb: fine thanks
ricks99: good to hear
jonnyb: was only a little storm (compared to '87) - mostly it was the weather forecasters covering their backs (after totally missing the 87 hurricane!)
probably the sort of thing you get a couple of time a year :)
ricks99: yup... tho been a very slow hurricane season so far.

[FIX]Recover missing info with current strings set at this step. I'm still unsure whether 'Raw text' is more meaningful for new users than the former 'Text only' for the non-wysiwyg editor type.
jonnyb: xavi: i was wondering about that page of the wizard
xavi: go on
jonnyb: i think "Raw text" isn't a common (English) expression
xavi: any better idea?
jonnyb: "Plain text" maybe?
vs Rich
xavi: aha... +1 for plain text, or simple text
jonnyb: think that's the common pair
xavi: the idea is "only non-wysiwyg" vs "wysiwyg"
jonnyb: plain better than simple i think
xavi: but this needs to be said in common words for non techies
jonnyb: indeed - let me svn up and look at the page
(and get more cooffee)
ooo :)
xavi: ok, feel free to improve, with British English if you prefer
jonnyb: what does rick think i wonder? (oh, gone)
xavi: I'm ok with USA Eng or UK Eng...
jonnyb: should be International English as standard, we can translate :)
xavi: :-)
Ok, glad you can recognize International English :-), I'm never sure if I can for sure

re-polom y'all
jonnyb: re-hi ricks99
xavi and i were discussing the best terminology for "wiki" editor vs "wysiwyg" in non-techie terms
i think "plain" vs "rich" is fairly commonly understood here...
ricks99: i like wiki markup vs. wysiwyg. plain and rich aren't very descriptive.
xavi: but there is something else: if they choose "wiki", wysiwyg will not be enabled. However, if they choose "wysiwyg", in the next screen they will be able to indicate that wysiwyg is (or not) the default editor, which makes that selection as "wiki" editor by default but with wysiwyg enable forr those with permissions
jonnyb: but wysiwyg uses wiki markup
xavi: that's why the word "only" or similar should be indicated in the "plain" option
jonnyb: so really you're asking "disable wysiwyg" or allow it?
xavi: yes, kind of, but for people that don't know what "wysiwyg" is
jonnyb: so how about - wysiwyg: disable or configure?
they shouldn't be tiki admins then ;)
xavi: he he :-)
ricks99: y. wiki syntax is always an option. it is wysiwyg that is being enalbed/disabled
jonnyb: we're not talking about "users" here
xavi: anyway, that was the rationale I deduced from the code from arildb
jonnyb: exacto ricks99 - disable or configure makes sense here
ricks99: +1
jonnyb: maybe add a not about what wysiwyg means if you think necessary
xavi: ok, go ahead if you see it clear, then
jonnyb: or even a note
can do, but have about 20 hours of big fixes to do
might get to it later ;)
xavi: ok, I'll do then, jonnyb, no problem :-)
jonnyb: [
oops
xavi: :-D
jonnyb: ok, side by side translate for me next :)
xavi: go, jonny, go! :-)

upgraded from 5.3 to 6 and images on the pages will not display. However the file gallery is working fine
jonnyb: hi jabber
Jyhem: That's weird. If you see broken images, can you right-click and see the actual image path?
jabber: Hello
jonnyb: is it a public site? i'll have a look (start the msg with [off] if you don't want it logged or pm me)
jabber: Yes, it is on local host
jonnyb: indeed, or right click and open in a new window/tab
jabber: K
jonnyb: 6 was such a long time ago...
Jyhem: I suppose you have done admin→Tiki Cache/Sysadmin → clear all ?
jonnyb: wonder if it's an encoding thing - had a few in those day
jabber: Yes - cleared cache
I did run the UTF 8 conversion when I did the install
I exported the production DB and did a fresh install with 6
ricks99: are images stored in the db or filesystem?
jonnyb: sometimes you get an error message if you go to youtiki.com/tiki-download_file.php?fileId=42
jabber: file sys
I compare URLs from the prod to local host for the page images and they are different for sure
I used the new .htaccess file with 6 as instructed
Jyhem: is the file sys directory readable by apache?
jonnyb: so they're stuff like .../display42?
jabber: {img fileId="197" thumb="y" align="center" }
that is in rev 6
<img src="dl197&display&x=120&y=114" width="120" height="114" alt="Image" />
that is rev 5.3
If you click on the broken image link, it will display the image from the gallery
jonnyb: you mean the img plugin's not being parsed? - you see in {img fileId="197" thumb="y" align="center" } the browser page source?
jabber: yes
jonnyb: that's well weird
what's the page (wiki) source? same?
or are you using the {picture} or {img} plugin syntax?
sorry, {image} not {img}
jabber: it looks like img
the page is the same tiki-index.php
jonnyb: and it's the same for all images?
check you actually have the file /lib/wiki-plugins/wikiplugin_img.php maybe?
jabber: yes, as far as I can tell. Weird that it is just the page thumbs

jonnyb: ok, i get a "Not Found" for that syntax on my 6.x (e.g. http://localhost/tiki/branches/6.x/display22&x=120&y=47 )
ok, i had my RewriteBase set wrong in my 6.x .htaccess - i need it to be "RewriteBase /tiki/branches/6.x"
is your localhost tiki at the server root? if not you need a RewriteBase
jabber: Can I add it to .htaccess
jonnyb: yes, just before the RewriteRules
there should be a commented out example in there
jabber: let me take a look
I see the rules - do just add RewriteBase /tiki/branches/6.x
sorry, a bit over my head here.
jonnyb: if that's where your tiki is
what's the url to your local tiki?
jabber: .htaccess is in the root of my web
localhost/chip
jonnyb: so you probably need RewriteBase /chip
jabber: K
WhiteCalf: joined #tikiwiki
jabber: I added RewriteBase /chip to .htaccess and it is still the same issue
Is that the correct syntax or does it need "/chip"
jonnyb: what's the actual url you are trying?
is it http://localhost/chip/display197&x=120&y=47
jabber: yes
And that pulls the image up just fine
jonnyb: ok, so that's fixed htaccess, but still no images in the page?
try turning sefurl off (alternatively)
jabber: correct, it is the thumb for that image
I did try sef off, no difference
Interesting - In Admin is says new version 5.4 is available, you are running 6.13
I just inserted a new image on the page, no thumb but when I click on the broken link it will pull the image up.
jonnyb: that version thing took until 11.1 to fix (hopefully) - it's surprisingly tricky
emptied caches recently?
jabber: I can imagine.
yep
Where are the image URLs parsed? If sef is off I assume that .htaccess is out of the picture
jonnyb: yes, .htaccess is for sefurl rewriting
so are you getting the images opening ok if you "open image in new window" but they're still not there in the page?
jabber: Images open that way or if I just click on the broken image link on the page
jonnyb: really sounds like a cacheing thing - emptied browser cache recently?
jabber: Yes
Tried different browsers as well FF, IE, Chrome
I'm going to turn on PHP error reporting
I'm getting a lot of E_NOTICE errors but other than that nothing more
I have sef off and decided to restart Apache and they are appearing on the page now
jonnyb: coo - maybe something cacheing (or something) in apache
still - you good now?
jabber: Good for now. I will turn sef back on and see if it still works. Thanks for all your help btw.
have a good weekend!
It must be relate to .htacess and the sef, when it is turned back on, I loose the thumbs on the page.
jonnyb: weird - hopefully just a local artefact
