hi hrsms
the problem might be related with the new composer, which is a script, that gets the vendor files instead of packing them (just roughly explained)
the composer is quite new and sometimes makes some problems
hrsms, what exactly did you do so far? which steps? Tiki-KGB: 03nkoth r48843 10branches/12.x/lib/core/Search/MySql/Table.php
[FIX] When rebuilding using empty Tiki, no index table is created causing problems after install nelsonko: @marclaporte2 hi, the above fix should fix the index table thing
but I don't like the fix
let me change it marclaporte2: ok
I hope changi is still awake :-)
If someone installs from a .zip, running Composer is not needed, likely has no effect, but could cause issues nelsonko: I am going to try reindexing after install. It should delete the old table and create a new one. If it does that I think the fix is good. hrsms: @fabricius - thanks for replying. Sorry for the delayed reply.
Here's what I did: My current tiki root is hrsms.org/home.
@fabricius - before I go on, are you still there?
Well, I'll go on anyway, just in case others are listening.
1st step: make new folder for 11.1 hrsms.orghome11 (after home11 is working as expected, will rename home --> home9 and home11 --> home) Tiki-KGB: 03nkoth r48844 10branches/12.x/lib/core/Search/MySql/Table.php * [ROLLBACK] r48853 bad attempt at fixing missing table issue hrsms: 2nd step: "svn checkout https://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tikiwiki/branches/9.x ." (but using 11 - 9.x was from my old notes)
3rd step: ran "sh setup.sh" marclaporte: hrsms: since your current Tiki is from svn, you can do even simpler: svn switch hrsms: The error messages I got and the steps I tried are here: http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=49930&topics_offset=7 nelsonko: @marclaporte: is the default home page only in english? marclaporte: hrsms: https://dev.tiki.org/Composer#Within_Tiki hrsms: @marclaporte: I'm out of my element here - don't really know shell commands. I'm looking up svn switch now... marclaporte: hrsms: http://dev.tiki.org/Update
nelsonko: I don't remember but I can install one to test
nelsonko: I know it's translatable, but not sure if we have translation nelsonko: ah right

I can take it. fabricius: hrsms - the story is quite easy to tell: sourceforge - our svn repository provider - got a huge overhaul lately and thus the paths did change marclaporte: fabricius: the knowledge should go the wiki, where people will look for it fabricius: maybe a few more details
marclaporte: is not there? obviously.
but now marclaporte and hrsms we are not about writing a page, but getting hrsms to his installation whilst finishing own worl in parallel - stuck in an upgrade marclaporte: nelsonko: Are you surviving? nelsonko: @marclaporte I think I might have a fix. testing... marclaporte: fabricius: hrsms is going through what many others have and will go through. This should be clearly documented. fabricius: marclaporte and hrsms ... still right, that the knowlegs has to go to a wikipage to be found by users
marclaporte: you are right! marclaporte: hrsms: you have to add something to the wiki before we can continue fabricius: at this point I would suggest that hrsms sticks to his original plan and makes a fresh checkout
keeping the original 9.x as "running backup" marclaporte: fabricius: why? hrsms: @marclaporte: Got. it. I may have missed the "relocate" instructions before your last fix. I think I was too fixated on the section above "Example Command". When I read "Example Commands" I presumed it was example "switch" commands, and I was still trying to get past the "pre 2013" part. I should have read more closely. fabricius: marclaporte ... cause he does svn checkout only second time, has to switch first time, does not know the shell at all ... ohhh kay ... he made it anyway .. congrats hrsms
hrsms are you the guy whom I guided through his first ever using the shell experience whilst being badly tired and nearly sleeping at 6 o'clock in the morning? hrsms: "you have to add something to the wiki before we can continue" What is that? fabricius: without audio - just in the chat? nelsonko: @marclaporte So what I did is to make the indexer detect if it's a fresh install (i.e. only one user and no homepage)
then it indexes the admin user so at least there is something to index marclaporte: hrsms: read http://dev.tiki.org/Update+from+SVN+pre+2013 and add the content of svn info as an example for others. nelsonko: seems like a reasonable workaround to me marclaporte: fabricius: svn has benefit of merging and dealing with non Tiki content. This saves time. Why would someone not want to take advantage of this? hrsms: @fabricius: "are you the guy whom I guided". Yes, that was likely me. I kept notes from that, and rather than looking for tiki wiki pages on updates I was trying to use my notes from the previous time. Not such a good idea... fabricius: hrsms .. I guess marclaporte wants you to document the part to here first, before he continues to explain the installation ... in Ottawa a few days ago, he made me developing my complete 5 pages company website in 5 less than 5 hrs Tiki-KGB: 03nkoth r48846 10branches/12.x/lib/search/searchlib-unified.php * [FIX] Fix for initial new indexing not creating index due to no content marclaporte: This is yet another example of why we need clear community recipes for all common operations. No need to post them. But I think I understand what marc is asking for as my contribution here. I'll post the URL both before and after doing the relocate. I have the before saved. Now I'll do the relocate, run info again, and post that after version. OK? marclaporte: hrsms: well if you can improve that page to be what you would have wanted, that would be awesome!
nelsonko: so index is created indeed, with just one element (user admin). This is expected? nelsonko: yes
basically as I said, ideally it would be best if we can create the homepage prior to the end of the installer so we can index that instead of admin
But that is a rather big change right now marclaporte: So, we re-package 12.0 now? nelsonko: yes if you can. I would rather not make any more changes marclaporte: ok, super

@marclaporte, isn't that a default change?
anyway, can discuss more later. I'm off for the night
changi can probably package when he gets up? marclaporte: default change? nelsonko: I mean that under the feature "Unified Search Index" there are a lot of settings that determine what gets indexed or not etc
some options are more about querying, e.g. the weights but many are about indexing
if indexing is always on then these options need to be settable marclaporte: ok
nelsonko: needs doing indeed :-) http://dev.tiki.org/item4666 nelsonko: it's sort of renamed now already
the label has been changed, it now shows as "Unified Search Index" in the admin panel marclaporte: Right, but it's perpetuing the confusion
but anyway, it's OK for now nelsonko: ok gd night :) marclaporte: Thanks Nelson! hrsms: I am on Bluehost, and get the error shown here. https://dev.tiki.org/Composer#Bluehost. Is there anything to be done?
Sorry. Anything that can be done? lindonb: what error are you seeing? hrsms: Sorry. Wrong link. http://tiki.org/Bluehost
It says "No input file specified." "We have failed to obtain the composer executable." and then some steps to attempt a resolution. I tried those, but no luck.
I posted this problem a while back. http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=49930&topics_offset=7
No responses, so I put it off for a while. lindonb: and there is no composer.phar file in the temp folder? hrsms: No, no composer.phar file lindonb: "php temp/composer install" in the tiki root doesn't work?
opps - php temp/composer.phar install hrsms: I had tried something weeks back that I thought had installed Composer. Perhaps it has not. I just downloaded the file to my home machine and uploaded to the server. Now sh setup.sh may have worked this time. Certainly more of a result than before, but if it was successful is hard for me to say. There are a lot of messages regarding being on a shared host that I do not fully understand. lindonb: can you paste the messages here? hrsms: I need to back up. I was in the wrong directory - one for an older tiki version. I've run setup.sh in the new folder (for 11.x) and now I see something completely different. lindonb: ok, different error or does it look like it's working? hrsms: It is asking me to select an option: f fix (classic default) o open (classic option) and then a host of very odd ones related to "permission check model" 'paranoia', 'worry', 'pain', 'insane'. What the heck is this?
I don't know what these are, but they scare me :-) lindonb: press c for composer
is that an option? (not sure if c was there in version 11) hrsms: C was not an option, but I tried it. There were not messages, it just took me back to the same dialog. The prior default was 'f', now it is 'x' (for exit). lindonb: press f
that's safe
when prompted, hit enter a few times hrsms: OK. Done. It's the same as in the file for the older version of tiki. These are the message (I just kept hitting enter)
You are not root or you are on a shared hosting account. You can now:
1- ctrl-c to break now.
or
2- If you press enter to continue, you will probably get some error messages but it (the script) will still fix what it can according to the permissions of your user. This script will now ask you some questions. If you don't know what to answer, just press enter to each question (to use default value) > Press enter to continue: lindonb: press enter hrsms: Group [nobody]: lindonb: enter hrsms: Multi []: lindonb: enter hrsms: A bunch of OK messages, and then...

BTW - I'm going through these steps

but I think I didn't type the second line (svn up)

I presume I can go back and do it now. And if I had already run this and just don't remember doing it, any harm? lindonb: should be okay hrsms: That ran quickly. Reply was "At revision 48846." How do I find out what 48846 is? lindonb: that's the last commit, looks like you're up to date hrsms: For my education, where is that number listed?
I ran "php installer/shell.php", per http://dev.tiki.org/Update#Database. It only took a second. Is that normal? lindonb: i've never done it that way so not sure. I've gone through the tiki interface
source forge archive of commits is here: http://sourceforge.net/p/tikiwiki/mailman/tikiwiki-cvs/
last commit message is for 48846 hrsms: Look like I accidentally went from my intended 11.x to 12 lindonb: can you open your tiki yet?
it will tell you the version hrsms: A couple more quick steps and I'll try
Nope: Your Tiki is not completely installed because Composer has not been run to fetch package dependencies. You need to run 'sh setup.sh' from the command line. See http://dev.tiki.org/Composer for details.
But I've already done this. lindonb: try php temp/composer.phar update hrsms: from my tiki root dir? lindonb: yes hrsms: Warning: Composer should be invoked via the CLI version of PHP, not the cgi-fcgi SAPI <br /> <b>Fatal error</b>: Uncaught exception 'ErrorException' with message 'Undefined index: argv' in phar:///home7/hrsmsorg/public_html/home/temp/composer.phar/vend lindonb: try this: php-cli temp/composer.phar update hrsms: Loading composer repositories with package information... lindonb: cool! hrsms: Thanks! lindonb: np hrsms: This is probably on a wiki somewhere. Sorry if I'm using you to be lazy...
Not out of the woods yet...
Your requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages.
Problem 1 - The requested package jquery/jquery-sheet 2.0.1 could not be found. lindonb: ha ha - it is here: http://dev.tiki.org/composer#Uncaught_exception
i put it there because i had the same problem myself!
try this: php-cli temp/composer.phar install hrsms: Is that tip #3? lindonb: seems similar hrsms: It's downloading several things. I wish I knew what I was doing here. Can you explain without having to write a book? lindonb: for whatever reason, composer didn't properly install in the first place hrsms: Probably because I didn't do it correctly. lindonb: now that it is installed, it is downloading all the external packages tiki uses
i think the cli thing was probably the problem in your case
you may always need to run the command line php commands rather than shell
i mean rather than sh setup.sh
seems like setup.sh doesn't handle the cli varition
variation hrsms: Probably worse than the cli. I ran something weeks ago (months ago?) thinking that it installed composer. Can't remember what it was, but it apparently was not it. Then just now I only grabbed the .phar file, thinking that was all I needed. I'm trying to go too fast, not reading closely enough. lindonb: understandable - the composer thing should be simpler imho hrsms: I understand it's new. I'm sure they'll clear it up over time.
I'm back in my tiki, but the modules (?) are missing. No menu, no login. lindonb: is it a brand new tiki? hrsms: No. Started some version prior to 6. Then it was upgraded to 6, then to 9, now to 11 (or maybe 12, by mistake). lindonb: what if you go to tiki-install.php hrsms: I manually typed in the admin url. There is an error messge telling me to do the same
errorsDatabase Version Problem Your database requires an update to match the the Tiki version; use the installer. Using Tiki with an incorrect database version will cause errors. If you have shell (SSH) access, you can also use the following, on the command line, from the root of your Tiki installation: php installer/shell.php lindonb: i use the tiki interface hrsms: I mean that I manually typed the url to get to the tiki interface, since the modules with the login and admin links are missing. So I'm at the point in tiki-install where I give the database connection. I'm going to go off on a tangent here:
fabricius help me upgrade from 6 to 9 a year ago. As a result of his instructions (perhaps I didn't follow them correctly) I created a new database, dropped the table from the old one, and loaded them to the new one. The new database, which I am using now, was named with a "9x" at the end, which is no longer approprate. Can I rename the existing database before I continue with the tiki-intall (just to get rid of the 9x, which co lindonb: are you using phpmyadmin? hrsms: yes. I'm seeing now where I can copy it. Then I should be able to point to the copy. What about this option: "Add AUTO_INCREMENT value", which is checked on by default? lindonb: uncheck
yes, that's exactly what i was going to suggest - create a copy hrsms: radio button set to Structure and Data
CREATE DATABASE before copying [ON]
Add DROP TABLE / DROP VIEW [OFF]
Add AUTO_INCREMENT value [OFF] (now it is)
Add constraints [OFF]
Any other changes? lindonb: looks ok hrsms: mysql, and not mysqli, correct? lindonb: mysqli hrsms: Is that difference something I can see in phpmyadmin?
I have to chose what the host is using, correct? lindonb: plain mysql is old
you should be safe with mysqli
not sure where you can see this hrsms: Getting better, but still with some problems....
I'm sure I've upgraded successfully. But where in admin can I see the version? lindonb: admin general panel hrsms: I think I might have to turn User-friendly url's back on... (not related to the admin version question) lindonb: are you on tiki 11? fabricius: hey lindonb and hrsms ... still fighting!? ... had some other support and I am fighting on a funio.com host ... curious if they have the appropriate php version for future 13 yet hrsms: yes, tiki 11.2 lindonb: ok, thought so hrsms: the SEFURL is already on, so that's not my problem. If you're not tired of me yet, I'll explain what it is...
I have a page that lists items of a tracker. http://www.hrsms.org/home/References
If you have permission, there is an edit icon for each item. That takes you to http://www.hrsms.org/home/Edit+Reference+Edition&itemId={{itemId}}
Now I get this error: Edit Reference Edition&itemId=1062
Sorry:
Page not found
Edit Reference Edition&itemId=1062
The page is set up to add (not edit) a new reference if the item ID is not passed. If I go to http://www.hrsms.org/home/Edit+Reference+Edition it works. So, it doesn't like the &itemId={{itemId}} part, but I have no idea why. lindonb: not sure - you've cleared all caches on your server and browser? hrsms: tiki cache yes, browser no lindonb: nice-looking site by the way :) hrsms: Thanks! Surprised to get a compliment from a "real" tiki user. I just dabble in it. fabricius: hrsms, I would be curious if you could be keen on trying to upgrade to bootstrap based responsive Tiki 13 ... development project on a testcopy, not the productive website ... anyway would mean some amount of work to refactor and rethink the layout ... by the way nice site as it is .. you theme fits to the topic very well hrsms: Cleared the browser except for active logins. That did not help. fabricius: hrsms what you want to achieve with adding resources (language difficulty mainly - do not understand, what you want to add) hrsms: We can talk about the Tiki 13 issue, but not tonight. I need to get some sleep soon.
I don't understand the second question, about resources. fabricius: no not tonight!! hehe
hehe ... you did not understand what I do not understand?
funny hrsms: Are you asking why I have this list of books? fabricius: no
I just looked at your site and try to imagine how the tracker items, the categories and the wikipages are interlinked
and what you mean with ressource
name of modeller or type of vessel or image of model hrsms: Resources: Resources for ship modeling items. This area is not very well developed. I hope to revise and expand it soon. What you see currently is from before I started using tiki - I created the club's first website as a learning experience - first just a little html, then added some css, then some mysql and php - all just using notepad and ftp.
What look like they should be categories are just some options in the table. I copied these over from the original site. Now that I am using tiki I will probably change to using categories. But I haven't worked on this yet.
The categories I do have allow a visitor to find ship models by era, type, nationality, the model maker's name, etc. In addition to a search tool, it helps me create a dynamic index as new pages are added.
Maybe I should be using a Structure instead? I don't know....
If you browse the categories, you can follow Model Subject --> Nationality --> Portugal, and you will find one listing. This is the model I should be working on instead of devoting hours and hours to this website !!!!!
If you are a visitor and you really like tugboats, you would follow Type-->Vessel-->Working-->Tugs/Towboats, and you'll find four models built by our members.
I really like this one, by the way - http://www.hrsms.org/home/Wild+Goose lindonb: nice indeed! hrsms: @fabricius: does that answer the question?
I just noticed that the behavior has changed! Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: bootstrap video clip: ready - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=26&comments_parentId=50397 hrsms: It used to be that when you clicked Models-->By Member on the left-hand menu that it would display the names of all of the modellers. Then you could click on a name and see what they had built. Now it is just a sequential listing of the pages. That's not good !! fabricius: nice model
hrsms - yes, you made things clearer
maybe we could follow up to discuss the behaviour thing another day hrsms: Sure. I am even more concerned about the &itemId={{itemId}} issue (discussed further above) fabricius: did it work before?
haven't seen this before hrsms: Yes. I've been working hard on it for the past week. fabricius: so worked in 9.x and not anymore in 11.2? hrsms: In 9.2. I got it to the point where I was happy with it (except it is very slow) and then did a backup before moving to 11.2. Now it doesn't work. fabricius: I cannot say, if that is a crude hack or a smart way to do s.th ... but if it is a smart way to do something, it seems to be a regression
Tiki12 coming out soon, it is likely to get fixed in 12, if reported there, as 12 will become LTS hrsms: I thought this was a normal way. I'm pretty sure I have seen examples in doc.tiki.org fabricius: but there are other people who are more familiar with specific tracker magic than me
can be normal
but advanced hrsms: I also see that all of my special characters (Portuguese) have been lost. This happened in my last two upgrades also. But I thought that since I finally had UTF-8 set that I wouldn't see it again. Not so. To see what I mean, go to http://www.hrsms.org/home/Cule+and+Chata and see the "Research" tab. fabricius: ouch
thats bad
and should not be hrsms: probable cause would be????? fabricius: we should chat some day soon and try to figure out things
no idea off hand
and sorry, must finish something and then get my little son picked up hrsms: What do you have in mind as far as "some day soon"?
It is 1:21 am here. Time for bed.
Thank you very much for your time, once again !!!! And definitely to you too lindonb!!!

[ENH]Add some visual styling to the find general section, the 'More search options' subsection, and to the 'Go' button so that it's clearer what goes where. leagris: joined #tikiwiki nelsonko: joined #tikiwiki lindonb: joined #tikiwiki Tiki-KGB: 03xavidp r48859 10branches/12.x/templates/modules/mod-search.tpl
[FIX]Compact display for search module options was not working under mobile mode. Hidden buttons are now exposed even if compact display chosen for the search module so that user can tap on them.
03xavidp r48860 10branches/12.x/templates/tiki-newsletters.tpl
[FIX]Fix size of some icons in mobile mode for browsing newsletters so that human fingers can tap on them without too much zooming in. Changes applied to the standard tpl since they do not seem to conflict with any change present in the equivalent tpl in trunk (therefore, these changes shouldn't create any conflict at merging time). marclaporte: joined #tikiwiki Tiki-KGB: 03marclaporte r48861 10trunk/doc/ 10stable.version 10longterm.cycle 10regular.cycle * Tiki 12.0 is officially released.
