arildb: xavi: Can I use plugins in the instrcution page? I am thinking of a remarks box that the search index must be rebuilt after the TikiKart installation.
Maybe just bold (or red?) pint may do the job.
s/pint/print
xavi: Plugins: yes, for sure!
arildb: will try that
xavi: just remember to enable them in the main page of the profile:
wikipluginfoo: y
in the preferences chunk
arildb: I am using underlined text. Avoids potential plugin problems
updated now http://profiles.tiki.org/TikiKart_instructions_page
Still missing a bit on "Next steps"
also some refomatting should be done
Some guidence to the PayPal setup is probably also good
...though maybe these things should go into a doc page, and have the Instructions page only have limited/important info + link to the doc page
The Instructions page is called excatly that. Maybe meaning that when the next profile with an Instruction page is run, the TikiKart Instruction page is over-written
xavi: yes, that can be the case, also, even if not all profiles name the instructions page in the same way
in fact, this is the first time I call it just "Instructions" :-)
arildb: ok, I am not familiar with this mechanism
xavi: you just declare which of the wiki pages the profile creates, will be the one shown as instructions for the user
arildb: The name should probably more specific. If the profile is applied to a running site, there is a fair chance the "Instructions" page already exists. Maybe "TikiKart instructions" is better?
xavi: yep, feel free to improve (or I'll do later, which ever)
btw, I click at Add to cart, and I get no change
I went to "Configure Paypal", but I don't know how to configure it
arildb: I added the cart module in the sidebar and could see a change
xavi: ah, ok
arildb: IN order to test PayPal, you will need...
1) A PayPal account
2) static IP address, for callbacks from PayPal
xavi: ah, nice, I see it in the module :-)
arildb: ...or maybe just a registered URL, mysite.dyndns.com also can work. I am not sure
xavi: ok
arildb: yes, seems to work
xavi: mmm, but product name is not shown in the cart
just unit cost and Qty
arildb: yes, I think I saw that too
xavi: mmm, maybe it's some leftover from an old version of the profile?
arildb: no idea
xavi: Ok, I'll add the module cart to the profile definition, at least I know how to do that, nowadays that I saw that that module "cart" exists and is named "cart", etc.
-: xavi total newbie with shopping carts in Tiki
xavi: yep, page name change to "Shopping Cart Instructions"
arildb: better
xavi: and imho, the official name of this profile (thinking in end users) should be "Shopping Cart"
arildb: yes, agree
xavi: I hope jonnyb agrees also...

xavi: arildb: module added and working
arildb: in the profile?
xavi: however, noawadays I can't see the book (saying tht it's not in stock)
yep, in the profile
arildb: very good. I will test now
xavi: renamed to "Shopping Cart" (jonnyb's permission granted :-), and alias with former name added to that page in profiles.t.o
arildb: :)
lphuberdeau: joined #tikiwiki
arildb: xavi: The page names in the profile are all pretty generic, with a fair chance of over-writing files on an existing system. They should probably be made more unique, to avoid naming conflicts.
xavi: ok, go ahead (+1)
arildb: I hope the shopping cart will work, if I rename the pages after the profile is applied (haven't tested that yet)
xavi: you can check for the referencename in the profile corresponding to a page name, and search it in the other pages in the profile pages in profiles.t.o, etc. , so that they are all renamed there, etc.
arildb: yes, I will check later
xavi: imho, the profile needs to include the option to use the status of tracker items, in case the admin wants to remove from there one item, etc. (bread was set as that)
So I'll add the option to allow at least the admin to see status in tracker items
arildb: a screencast on the doc "Shopping cart" page, showing how to apply the profile and do the basic configuration, would probably be very helpful. The shopping cart must work before that can be done though
xavi: and remove fixed width for the demo, since the display of items only whos 2 of them if fixed width is set
screencast: yes, but beyond my time, in this case. :-) (I'll use my limited free time to add it to the Profiles Wizard when ready and after 12.1 is released, probably)
arildb: often good with native english speakers for such things
xavi: yep :-) (not me)
arildb: nor me :)

arildb: Backlinks is an attractive feature, which I miss in the admin wizard. Maybe on the Text Area page?
xavi: +1 :-)

arildb: xavi: I just installed the latest shopping cart profile
xavi: he he
you got melons, then, also (just added) as a closed item
arildb: cart and last visit pages in the sidebar..better
xavi: yep
arildb: checking more...
xavi: for the melon image to be shown, you need to start from a blank install
I don't know why, otherwise, the extra image is not added
arildb: products page works well
adds to cart
the search page doesn't work. The contents of the items is missing. Errors like: No value for 'tracker_field_3'.
xavi: do you get the same?
xavi: yes, no idea about the internals
arildb: me neither
and product name not displayed in the cart
xavi: yep
arildb: the cart count right it seems, and it seems easy to operate
xavi: yep
a couple of quick & dirty screenshots added to the profile page (and the doc page in doc.t.o)
It's getting better and better as a demo for new users :-). Enough for me for now. Need to go to other stuff for today.

[ENH] Using {permission_link} for (almost) all links to tiki-objectpermissions.php
Jyhem: hi jonnyb
-: Jyhem just discovered changes in theme handling in smarty
jonnyb: hi Jyhem
which changes?
Jyhem: which kind of breaks the customer's upgraded site, but looks actually better
well, they have a global theme which is called promusa
and all the templates in templates/styles/promusa would override the Tiki templates
But they also linked other themes on categories, like news.css or images.css
and in Tiki9, an article in category images.css would have the images.css css file, the modules linked to the images.css theme, but the tpls from templates/styles/promusa
Now, they look for a templates/styles/images/article.tpl and not templates/styles/promusa/article.tpl and they default to templates/article.tpl
-: Jyhem beieves the Tiki12 thing makes much more sense
fabricius: joined #tikiwiki
Jyhem: s/beieves/believes/

Jyhem still wonders on how to make people aware of this "improvement"

arildb: jonnyb and xavi: I changed the generated page names in the shopping cart profile. product = cart product, search => cart search, etc.
this makes the page names less generic and should have a lower change of intering with existing tiki content

hope this is ok with you
Tiki-KGB: 03arildb r50255 10branches/12.x/ 10templates/examples/shop/product_list_inner.tpl 10templates/examples/shop/add_to_cart.tpl * [FIX] change page names

marclaporte: joined #tikiwiki
jonnyb: hi Arild - i prefer shorted page names, but it doesn't really matter much to me
i guess cart+ names avoids collisions so can only help
if you're building a full-on e-commerce site you'll probably use some funky rewrite rules so they come out as example.com/product/1234 for instance
done for today, more next week...
arildb: you still about?
i'll email...
arildb: yes. hi jonnyb
jonnyb: ah, it's about r50254 - doesn't look right (or needed) to me
for one thing the items might not be in a tracker
and also, the item title should get passed to the addtocart plugin via the description param, which then does get added to the cart
arildb: ok...but how will the product title be displayed?
jonnyb: was it not happening for you?
where? in the cart?
arildb: no...the product title in the cart was empty
jonnyb: in templates/examples/shop/add_to_cart.tpl it uses "description=$row.name"
arildb: ah... I will change it
jonnyb: ah, right - oops, sorry - another change i made but didn't put back into the profiles was we need a {FORMAT} line in the list plugins to set the "name" to whatever you want
usually it's the object "title" but sometimes (in multilingual) you need more control
you need a: {FORMAT(name="name")}{display name="tracker_field_product_title"}{FORMAT}
i'll fix the profile
arildb: ...ok :)
jonnyb: aha, in the profiles it's still called "title" but that conflicts sometimes
ok, profile pages updated
arildb: should I revert the fix?
jonnyb: yes please :)
arildb: ok
jonnyb: (well, assuming it now works ok for you)
you just need to change "title" to "name" in the products pages
i've also added the missing mini cart "switch" lines to the pages (but with mini cart off)
fabricius: Jyhem: "Now, they look for a templates/styles/images/article.tpl and not templates/styles/promusa/article.tpl and they default to templates/article.tpl " <= you mean "they" the Tikis? Meaning the Tiki12s?
jonnyb: i recommend you try it if you're planning to use PayPal

fabricius: End of August jonnyb
jonnyb: hmm... maybe, not sure on summer plans yet
arildb: works fine now jonnyb. thanks...
jonnyb: yay, nice
thanks for the rollback
sometimes it's useful to use hand made addtocart buttons, not from a tracker or anything
arildb: jonnyb: is the paypal integration in shopping cart verified?
jonnyb: the tiki payment feature one? yes, it can use the IPN (or whatever it's called , payment notification thing)
Tiki-KGB: 03jonnybradley r50257 10(5 files in 3 dirs) * [MRG] Automatic merge, branches/12.x 50247 to 50256
jonnyb: the mini-cart one does all the payment stuff within paypal and returns to a "thank you" page
arildb: will give it a try, once I can test paypal.
I am on a dynamic ip
jonnyb: maybe you can get one of those dynamic fns things to work (i never did)
arildb: jonnyb: do you know if a dynamic dns service can be used for the paypal callback? .... yes, maybe it can work
jonnyb: i'd seriously suggest you look at the mini-cart option - the built in tiki cart and payment system is hugely limited
hard to deal with refunds etc - paypal does all that for you (for free)
arildb: how do I activate it?
(mini-cart)
looks good.
jonnyb: arildb: to enable mini cart add {FORMAT(name="use_minicart")}1{FORMAT} in your product list plugins
arildb: testing
jonnyb: i added it to the two profile pages (but using 0 so it's off by default)
arildb: but it is required to first apply the shopping cart profile, or?
jonnyb: i tried to update the mini cart code the other day (we're on v2.5 but 3.5 is out) but they've made it unusable imho :(
those lines should use a profile parameter so you can choose mini cart or tikicart when you install
but i'm done for now - been a long week :)
arildb: :) see you
jonnyb: probably will lurk for a while - doing easy things :)
thanks for your help on the cart, nice to see it come alive!
