[10:40] gour does it mean one has to merge it manually with the e.g. en-uk? 'en' is practically empty? [10:57] fabricius hi gour, take lang/de/language.php and use the english side, replacing the german strings (right side) to hr and merge the result to lang/hr/language.php [11:39] Jenser joined #tikiwiki [11:45] Jenser 00hi there. i just updated my tiki from 9lts to 12lts, hoping that the search now works for "tracker comments". unfortunately, it doesn't seem so. is there a way to simply "enable" this? did i oversee a setting for this? thanks in advance01 [12:10] gour fabricius: i was considering to merge it with en-uk. isn't it easier? [12:15] gour in any case it looks more complicated than it should be if the language.hr would be completed and simply hold untranslated string with the default (English) terms [12:18] fabricius gour: I just suggested a workaround for the case that English original is mainly empty ... German is the most translated language in Tiki (even before French) since end of 2010 and thus I assume you will find most relevant strings in that file. [12:19] gour fabricius: but en-uk is, i assume, fairly, complete, right? [12:19] Tiki|bot New Forum Posts: Issue inserting formulas in fora - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=26&comments_parentId=53796 [12:19] fabricius gour: Rodrigo did answerr my e-mail - sadly he is not anymore maintaining i18n.t.o and thus I must find somebody else - anyway he said, in emergency case and if we did not find anybody, he tried to help to sort the problem. [12:19] gour fabricius: still, i wonder, why every language file does not contain all the string, both translated and untranslated? [12:21] gour fabricius: ok, i'll probably submit for linode today and eventually migrate there [12:21] fabricius gour: I have no idea about en-uk - it is a variant of en and I would be surprised if it would be any complete in respect of a full list of relevant Tiki strings - do what you want, but I really think, that de gives you the maximum available amount of English Tiki strings - mind that the left column always is English and that you can just ignore the German strings [12:22] gour whenever i encountered some translation project, the non-english file contained all the strings [12:22] gour fabricius: still, how is it that there is no 'en' original' available? [12:23] fabricius maybe there would be needed a different structure, or some maintaining responsibility by some community member like .... you? [12:24] fabricius gour: easy to answer: the fast release - every 1/2 year a new version with a lot of new features and some changes - then not many people maintaining "their" language ... I'd like to get this better, but we would need the people, the voluntaries for that. [12:24] gour hmm...i assume that it should be possible to simply generate original 'en' file based on the strings used, without any maintenance [12:25] fabricius I cannot sort such approach alone - maybe assist with some coordination or help newbies, but I cannot do all by myself [12:26] fabricius gour: if you want to get on this "simply generate original 'en' file based on the strings used" you are welcome to strat off and I would be happy to assist you [12:26] gour fabricius: the point is that, imho, every non-english language should have all vanilla English strings and then, as it is getting translated, those should be replaced with the translated ones [12:26] fabricius sure! [12:27] fabricius would make things easier [12:27] gour fabricius: if e.g. croatian is not translated full, how does Tiki behave? show empty strings instead? [12:27] gour i assume not...it fills it with English ones, right? [12:28] gour fabricius: shall i post to the devel list? [12:28] fabricius no - for non-translated string Tiki always show the original English strings from the templates [12:28] gour so, why not having the same in language-php? [12:29] fabricius The translatable strings are "marked" in the templates (.tpl files) by wrapping them in tr tags: {tr}translatable string {/tr} [12:29] gour that's clear and natural [12:30] gour the point is, every language.php should be complete, either with full translation or by mixin of (un)translated strings, not to be crippled by having only translated ones [12:30] fabricius how you would get all those strings into one "base file" with a reasonable effort [12:31] gour well, it is how it should start, imho [12:31] gour tiki is the first project which does it differently which i did encounter so far :-) [12:32] gour i'll post about it to the devel list [12:48] gour fabricius: posted [12:48] * gour --> lunch [12:49] Tiki|bot New Forum Posts: vanilla/original language.php file - http://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=26&comments_parentId=53798 [13:00] Jenser has anyone an idea how to enable search for "tracker comments"?
