any ideas how to tackle the nextdev wsod next?
[13:19]
jonnybthanks for looking into nextdev's problems [13:20]
ametteyou're welcome [13:20]
jonnybwas hoping for something useful from the error_log
:(
[13:20]
ametteyeah, me too, not really though - hang on, I'll get the two from last night... [13:21]
jonnybit'll probably be a module or something that appears when you're logged in i think
i can make a new one if it helps?
[13:21]
ametteah, module might be...
... you mean make new error or module? :)
[13:21]
jonnybnew error :) [13:21]
ametteok, yeah, the 500 won't happen again, that's why I meant search for last night [13:22]
jonnybmight be worth checking what the error display prefs are set to [13:22]
amettealthough it wasn't too exciting anyways iirc [13:22]
jonnyboh right, got you [13:22]

jonnybew, just got the noscript mode on nextdev again - grrr [13:23]
ametteerror_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED & ~E_STRICT [13:23]
jonnyband the other one - error_display (i think?) [13:23]
amette85.177.87.94 - next [15/Apr/2015:00:40:24 +0200] "POST /tiki-login.php HTTP/1.1" 500 31 "https://nextdev.tiki.org/login" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Geck
o) Chrome/37.0.2062.120 Safari/537.36"
display_errors is on (changed that last night)
I also inserted a deliberate syntax error in tiki-login.php for testing and that one was shown in the browser.
but well, the 500 went away - so let's not get hung up on that one
now we have 200s and WSOD - I also upped memory_limit to 256M (from 192M), but no change - now bck at 192M again
[13:24]
jonnybhold on, just closing some other things [13:26]
amettealright [13:26]
And I'd like to know who uses uptimerobot on our next-sites without having it properly configured to do http basic auth. It's most annoying in the logs. [13:33]

hi all

Bsfezhi amette
so we have no clue ?
[13:38]
ametteyep, currently our board of clues is as blank as the nextdev page after login
jonnyb suspected a module that only triggers after login - not a clue, but an idea at least
[13:39]
Bsfezyou removed the http authentification ? [13:40]
jonnybhi Bsfez [13:40]
ametteyep, that didn't change anything - I can remove it again for now, if you want to test [13:40]
jonnybseems odd if it's a module or something that it doesn't affect dev.t.o [13:40]
Bsfezmodule search_morelikethis is broken [13:40]

Bsfezoh i had it… refreshing here too
did you remove https in the db (or can you do it) ?

chibaguy:-) hi amette [13:49]
amette:) Still can't login though, WSOD stays. [13:50]
Bsfezok
in T12 we had "session_protected" and it took me A LOT OF TIME to find it
[13:50]
jonnybstill got a whitey on nextdev login [13:50]
Bsfezin T14 check "session_protected" = "n"
i'm still redirected to https

Bsfez: no redirect to https here, try loading it fully non-ssled first
[13:51]

In T14 I can find only here
[13:53]

(checking on win chrome, no-script turned off, all menu open - anonymous)
[13:55]
jonnybi still don't get why we're not seeing any errors (in browser or logs)? [13:56]
ametteIndeed, that's what I'd like to know, too!
jonnyb: try again
[13:56]
jonnybwill do
aha!
[13:57]
ametteimho that means that if there would be a real error, it would show, right?
this now was a deliberately removed semicolon
[13:58]
jonnyboh right, that $bypass_siteclose_check one was you [13:58]
ametteyes, sorry, should have mentioned before you get your hopes high
but I mean: to test that the php.ini and stuff is properly configured
[13:58]
jonnybyes, that means if it was a syntax error in php we would see it [13:58]
Bsfezdid you check your cookies ? a lot of people there... [13:58]
jonnybbut what about a db error
could you (as a test) rename a vital table maybe temporarily?
[13:59]
amettehmmm.... good point... if tiki doesn't realise it, it won't be shown [13:59]
jonnyblike tiki_preferences [13:59]
ametteyeah, sure, usually it then throws up the database not properly configured - had that yesterday at one point, when database:update wasn't run yet
hang on, I'll rename
ok
redirects me to tiki-install.php
[14:00]
Bsfez:uncaught error capslock something is not helping I guess
redirects me to tiki-install.php
[14:01]
jonnybhmm, ok, so not db either (probably) [14:01]
amettebut: tiki_preferences is the one that is being used as a check for database being initialised...
... another table might not give the same behaviour. hang on...
[14:01]
jonnybah, maybe a bad example [14:02]
ametteok, not tiki_modules became tiki_mods - different error, but error at least [14:03]
jonnybhow big is the database? if you can send me a copy somehow i can step through it in the debugger (maybe, actually intertiki might prevent that) [14:03]
ametteOh, you can have a copy, it's only a bit over a gig *g* [14:03]
jonnybah, does anyone know what the local admin password is on dev? that might rule out intertiki
hmm, a gig might take longer than other options..
[14:04]
amettea gig takes longer than about anything :-/ [14:04]
jonnybwhy so big i wonder? [14:05]
amettebut iirc as long as I backup the tiki_actionlog table to somewhere, I am allowed to drop it, yeah? [14:05]
Bsfez… would be faster to install new db from scratch just to check ? [14:05]
amettethe answer is in my last question, jonnyb [14:05]
Bsfezwouldn't be [14:05]
redflojoined #tikiwiki [14:05]
Bsfeza new one without touching the previous one [14:05]
ametteBsfez: we even have doc and themes _including_ data and they work - so nothing new to learn from an empty db [14:05]
Bsfezok [14:06]
jonnybalways wondered about that - we really need a way of managing the actionlog better [14:06]
Bsfezand if we copy just the tiki-preferences table into a new one to be sure we are looking in the right direction ? [14:07]
amettejonnyb: imho actionlog is for low-traffic sites as the concept is flawed for anything that has close to serious traffic - nelson suggested logstash and that does look good - I am working on the server side for that, so we should get some results there within some weeks [14:07]
jonnybnot sure what the "policy" is on actionlog - guess we need to keep it somewhere - no idea really (it's an admin thing, i'm just a coder ;) )
cool, yes i tried to get logstash and kibana working, looks promising (but i failed so far)
so could you send me a db without actionlog? seems i might be quickest...
[14:07]
amettethe actionlog on dev was probably out of curiosity to see how people use the site, but so far I haven't seen anyone produce any relevant information for the community from it *shrug*
and well, curiosity not only killed the cat

nelsonkoamette, can you revert the https fiddling? [14:28]
ametteyes, hang on [14:28]

BsfezI compared the cookies in nextthemes and nextdev
quit different
[14:29]
amettethe next thing I am going to try is: replay the original database into a new schema and install the original tiki without upgrading to 14.x - this way we can see, if it actually is due to the tiki upgrade [14:29]

Bsfezlogin is ok now thanks to Amette and Nelson [16:37]
amettetiki_tabular_formats already exits
exists
[16:37]
jonnybwhat was the problem? [16:37]
ametteelasticsearch could not be reached due to firewalling on the search-cluster and tiki seems to want to index the login or some such [16:38]
BsfezAs soon as amette complete update (manual db update) I'll test and report into the list [16:38]

jonnybyuk, and that was casuing WSoD? that's bad [16:38]
Bsfez(we should have some kind of verbose for this) [16:38]
amettejonnyb: I agree, we need a code fix for that [16:38]
jonnybi can have a go at that - will try and simulate it here - enabling elastic search without having one might be a place to start [16:39]

jonnybhttp://sebsauvage.net looks interesting, nice find amette [16:42]
amette:)
jonnyb: do you know about the elasticsearch indices and their prefixes and the random looking postfixes?
[16:42]
jonnybfabricius: i can't seem to find an example of and "old" one to see if an update breaks anything, was hopeing Xavi would be about, he uses them a lot
amette: only a bit, in that i've seen them
[16:43]
fabriciusjonnyb: can we export trackers with field and content? [16:43]
jonnybit's all a bit of a "black box" to me [16:43]
ametteI now changed the unified_elastic_index_prefix via "System Configuration" on nextdev.
because we don't want to overwrite our live index
[16:43]
jonnybah right, yes, i think nelsonko had to do that before on nextdev
wasn't that part of the next sync script?
[16:44]
amettein the admin panel it doesn't really show though and index rebuild didn't really work - so I'm hesitant to call it a day on nextdev [16:44]
Bsfezamette it's all done I can start to test ? [16:44]
ametteBsfez: you can test, but don't rely on search-functionality using the correct index - but since the data is mostly the same it shouldn't matter [16:45]
jonnybby the way, those sql update errors can be ignored - would be nice to prevent them but hard [16:45]
fabriciusjonnyb: I fear, that for the old - new issue, we might in worst case have to wait until someone comes with an issue - I have nothing related either on an old site [16:45]
amettejonnyb: ok, cool about the sql errors - so I can get rid of them and the admin panel warning by using tiki-install.php I guess!? [16:46]
jonnybre the export trackers thing fabricius, yes, but you do them separately - tracker defitintion, fields and data are all separate exports (not great)
there's an option to the console.php d:u command... 1 mo
[16:46]
Bsfezok no search thanks again this has already helped us to get one notch closer to the release ! [16:46]
fabriciuscan you give me some guiding advice (where to go, click click) - then I'd try to export the trackers from my Tiki trunk show instance and import to a Tiki 14 show instance [16:47]
jonnybyes, it's --auto-register (got from php console.php help d:u) [16:47]
ametteand jonnyb : no it wasn't in the next-script, it is now, but not sure, if it does work properly
amette needs to invest some hours to dig into this search indexing... quite tough to administer systems, if one doesn't even know what all those indices are for
[16:48]

ametteand why does console.php claim that index:rebuild is not available *scratchinghead*
from admin panel it works, but times out of course
oh and btw - didn't we see error messages earlier because it is set to "Visible to Admin only"?!
That might be something we want to have refresh-nxt.sh set in system config, too.
[16:51]
Tiki-KGB03luciash r55092 10branches/12.x/ 10templates/tiki-print_article.tpl 10templates/article.tpl

[16:56]
jonnybah yes, the errors on tiki next sites should be visible to all, true amette [16:57]
ametteI checked the DB upgrades in tiki-install.php, no more errors there - we are approaching a clean upgrade. :)
ok, I'll add that to the system config
[16:57]
jonnybyay :)
can't see why index:rebuild should be unavailable if the db is up to date
jonnyb is now regretting getting elasticsearch to be running all the time on his laptop, and can't remember how to switch it off!
[16:57]
amettehehehe, shouldn't there be an /etc/init.d/elasticsearch ?
otherwise... you can just config your Tiki to try and connect to my.nonexistent.elasticsearch.server ?!
even better, use a non-existant private IP like 10.20.30.40
(assuming you aren't in that subnet)
[17:00]
jonnybnothing so easy, this is Mac OS :)
going to change the pref as you suggest, ta
[17:03]
ametteoh, right, needs clicking and stuff *g*
yeah, yw
[17:03]
jonnybno, it has some sort of BSD underneath it, but it's all launch control stuff [17:04]
ametteoooh, look at that.. checking the database errors made the console.php index:update available it seems :)
yeah, I know, there should be a console way for everything on MacOS, I just don't know them.
[17:05]
jonnybyes, the console.php won't do anything until the database is up to date (and error free) [17:06]
fabriciusjonnyb: it seems that it is possible to export the tracker items, but the structure iexport is not working -> click link -> nothing happens [17:06]
jonnybi just added a 1 to the end of the elasticsearch url and now i get WDoD on the search panel, so that's a start :) [17:07]
amettesounds familiar, yeah :)
and the index rebuild fails with: PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function getConfiguration() on a non-object in /var/local/dev.tiki.org/www/lib/core/Tracker/Item.php on line 126
[17:07]
jonnybalmost like a WSoD ;) [17:07]
amettehehe, yeah, the console version of it *g* [17:08]
jonnybwouldn't that be WToD or something [17:08]
amettedoes it remove the index it created so far, if it fails?
White Text of Death?! :)
[17:08]
jonnybthe rebuild error will probably be a corrupt or mangled plugin somewhere, hard to trap [17:08]
ametteBPoD - Black Prompt of Death *g* [17:09]
jonnybbut i can add a better error probably
White Terminal of Death i thought...
[17:09]
ametteTerminal - right! :) [17:09]
jonnybBPoD is better [17:09]
ametteMany ways to say it's b0rked. [17:09]
jonnybanyway, one bug at a time (yes fabricius, the export thing is broken, probably the same as users admin was for a while in beta) [17:10]
amettething is, I saw an index like tikinextdev_123456789, which is now gone. [17:10]
fabriciushumm jonnyb - bad thing. I'd like to implement the same tracker setup as in the trunk show, but settingall up manually might be too much for today [17:11]
amettehmmm, I think that I can drop all those indices that have this hash appended... they seem to be temporary indices... dunno why the tikidevlive ones weren't removed, probably older code, but the tikinextdev gets removed once it fails
mmmnnnhhh... not completely, that hash stays there in the end.
[17:14]
jonnybre
how elastic search works is a mystery - i guess there's some housekeeping things one should do to purge old indexes
[17:18]
ametteindeed, there are about a dozen of old indices from another site - I guess most of them are failed and just eating up heap - I'll have to dig deeper into that, putting on my list for when I upgrade the search cluster [17:20]
