fabriciushaha Lukas (my older son) did install W10 a few days ago - did need ages.
he likes it so far, but he checked which of the nice features "call home" since he painfully accepted to need a microsoft account to run W8
[16:01]
jonnyb:) [16:02]
fabriciusand what?
he switched of only one bad home calling (tell MS where he is ... he does not want them to know his position) - only one of the many security "option" and no nice features anymore
so no more talking computer
no mor telling him how the weather is
somewhere else
mind: MS wants to know where he is (ex. in Berlin) to tell him where the weather somewhere else is (ex. Munich)
[16:02]
jonnybthere's also the peer to peer update sharing thing i've heard is naughty, defaults to on and uses up your upload bandwidth apparently [16:04]
fabriciusMS will tell Lukas only the weather in another city, when he activates geo-localisation
yeah -- MS desides your upgrades - what and when
I like the features from the ads ... yeah like that ... but for the price of being a transparent industry owned puppy, I just do not want a bit of it at all - not at all at all.
High Security and Appropriate Dataprotection you will never gain together with Full Convenience.
W10 seems to be Conveience Product, whilst the Gnu/Linux and BSD flavors are variations of Fresh Food. A bitmore time to prepare, need some basic knowledge, but healthy and tasty (usually).
[16:04]
jonnybjonnyb wonders what that makes Mac OS? ;) [16:13]
fabriciustrying to be more convenient?
data collectors all
why MS needs to track where you are and where you go just to provide you fancy features for which your geoposition is irrelevant ? Guess ! We all know for the most part .
Being tracked anyway . Yet trying to get away from that . Maybe soon using TOR !?
Or I get a rootserver and use that from a VPN tunnel
internet and such

hi msaad
[16:25]
msaadHi jonnyb! Saw your comment on the bug tracker! :) [16:26]
jonnybwhich one? [16:26]
msaad"How about for the time being we restrict the wishlist fields to only appear for "Team Wishlist" members? "

I'm still going to go over all the suggestions, trace a plan, discuss what will be done first and then give it a go :)
[16:28]
jonnyboh right yes, i on;y just started using that "view only if in group" setting on tracker fields recently, seems to work fine [16:29]
msaadAnd it makes sense to have it that way. I'll make sure to include that on the changes. [16:31]
fabriciusWouldn't be one "field type textarea" very much enough for the wishlist ? [16:39]
.... (idle for 17mn)
chibaguyhi fabricius. Of course I'll try to deactivate as much privacy intrusions as I can, but so far I like Windows 10 quite a bit.
But then I liked Windows 8, too.
[16:56]
jonnybjonnyb is glad someone liked it [16:57]
chibaguy(Not really a big windows fan historically, but the OS works pretty well without getting in the way these days, IMO.
Edge browser seems pretty good too.

I have a Theme problem I think. Using Theme:arcturus Option:geo any language that reads r2l like Arabic displays as a different theme in the logo module at the top. It displays as the the 'default' theme fivealive instead. Is that something that I can fix or is it an issue for the Theme designer? [18:20]

cidoc-dswgBefore anyone asks I have cleared the cache. Also I thought it might be a browser problem (especially as first seen in MS Edge) but it does the same in Chrome and Firefox. [18:31]
jonnybhi cidoc-dswg - the arcturus themes were form tiki 2ish, so probably don't support RTL languages at all, sounds like a tough job to convert it i would have thought [18:36]
gezzapolom
cidoc-dswg which tiki version do you use?
[18:37]
cidoc-dswgDowloaded the recent update. was that 12.4?
Shame if not arcturas geo, like that theme. How tough to fix, how are the themes defined?
[18:38]
gezzaah, ok, so before the bootstrap&theme revamp (started with Tiki13) [18:40]
cidoc-dswgI know this is a daft question but is there a quick way i can remind myself what version i am running? [18:41]
gezzain that version they are in the /styles directory [18:41]
jonnybi used to use geo on an old site, but when it was discontinued (before chibaguy re-added them as arcturus) i just switched to a different theme... (not much help i know, but it's quite a bit of work i tihnk) [18:42]
gezzato check your version go to tiki-admin.php?page=general [18:42]
cidoc-dswgYep it is 12.4. I'm hearing that it wouldn't make any difference if I updated the version though. I need to choose a theme and check it in both language directions. Any shortcuts/guidance on theme selection, rather than grinding tjrough each one again?
s/tjrough/through
[18:45]
gezzanot sure which ones are RTL ready
https://themes.tiki.org/tiki-browse_categories.php?parentId=2&deep=off&type=
the listed ones were mostly maintained
in the Theme Demo section
except for Bootswatch themes, they are for Tiki13+
[18:48]
cidoc-dswgWhat is the latest stable version, maybe I should get that. I did think i had installed 14 (or am I imagining that?) [18:52]
jonnybyes, latest version is Tiki 14.0, but 12.4 is still supported to an extend as it's the Long Term Support version until 15.1
(or even longer actually)
[18:55]
cidoc-dswgOK thanks that's all useful. I will have a look at the Theme Demo and list and select a new one. Cheers. I will also update to 14 probably, since I am not out of initial set up yet. [18:59]
jonnyb14 is much nicer than 12, so i recommend that, but i'm not sure what the state of RTL is in it as yet (whatever it's like it's probably better than the arcturus themes) [19:00]
cidoc-dswgWhich prompts me to ask something else. How does tiki know which direction a language should be displayed in? Is that a setting I need to be conscious of when adding new languages? [19:05]
jonnybthere's a fairly crude check somewhere that i tihnk currently just checks if it's Hebrew or Arabic, probably easily extended [19:16]
cidoc-dswgI need to add Farsi (Persian) and Urdu to that list. Something I do or request? [19:18]
jonnybsorry cidoc-dswg - got to go now, have a look at... hmm, sorry, should be a page on https://dev.tiki.org/Developer+Documentation about it but can't find it now
more tomorrow probably...
here it is https://dev.tiki.org/Creating+or+maintaining+translations?structure=Developer+Documentation
[19:25]
cidoc-dswgMany Thanks.
