   Jyhem_laptop: hi fabricius
<br> <u>mattbmc</u>: I have no issue with ubuntu server when installing Tiki
olinuxx: Jyhem_laptop, no worries, thanks for that. This is what I was thinking of as well.
<br> Jyhem_, I've got one more question and am unsure how to formulate it in English, would you agree with a private message in FR ?
Jyhem_laptop: <u>olinuxx</u>: what I mean but "customer data" is it's *your* decision to figure out how much back in time you want syslog info
   <br> s/but/by/
   olinuxx: ok, got that
mattbmc: It has been a while, but perhaps something with Ubuntu's treatment of SMTP "out of the box" has changed. E.g. Email notifications or user account verifications never work "out of the box" on any installation of TikiWiki I've ever installed - even the most recent on Godaddy. Some host mods are always required...I'm just not that familiar with which ones. I even gifted someone from this channel with something from their Amazon wish l
<br> ist once for helping me set up a new instance. That was a long time ago tho!
<br> Can anyone recommend an installation guide (whenther TikiWiki-oriented or not) that includes essential SMTP and SSL setup?
<br> And I guess I may as well solicit on the platform as well....is there another platform aside from Ubuntu that would be a better option?
Jyhem_laptop: I usually follow the "perfect server" docs except I skip what I don't need and I don't open mysql access from outside the server
mattbmc: (I always assumed SMTP was somehow disabled by default to eliminate accidental open SMTP relays...or something along those lines.)
   Jyhem_laptop: <u>mattbmc</u>: example: https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/perfect-server-ubuntu-15.04-with-apache-php-myqsl-pureftpd-bind-postfix-doveot-and-ispconfig/
<br> Just google ubuntu perfect server with the relevant version number of ubuntu
<br> They do isnatall postfix as part of the process
   mattbmc: Hm.
<br> Will definitely peruse that link.
Jyhem_laptop: But then you get ISPConfig as well which you may or may not like
mattbmc: Looking for low-drag, easy to install, easy to maintain...I am not a sysadmin and this is a hobby-level effort.
<br> That said, I may be willing to pay someone a one-shot for doing a complete install....if I had an idea how much that would cost.
<br> ...I should have said....I have been my own sysadmin in the past....I am not (nor do I really want to be) anymore. :) :)
<br> Less time for Googling now than ever...
Jyhem_laptop: i have found it takes me at least one full day for a dedicated server install with ISPConfig
mattbmc: Any hosting provider that would come with a hearty recommendation for taking care of installation issues like I've desribed? I'm open to hosting at home or remote at thist stage....
<br> Ya....that's approx my recollection from the Tiki 1.7+ days....I'm a full time Dad now, so things have changed a lot since then. ;) :)
Jyhem_laptop: The Tiki part is not the long part :-( It's all the rest, deciding wether you want ftp, jails, etc
mattbmc: Also need email hosting if that affects or precipitates any suggestions for a hosting provider. :)
   <br> Exactly....host config....
<br> Tiki is super easy once that's all done. :)
<br> Back later... thanks for everything so far!!!!
Jyhem_laptop: email hosting is always a bit scary to me :-(
<br> where do you live ? I essentially know hosting providers in france

<br> hi - I just upgraded a tiki 9.10 site to tiki 14. Problem is that when I try and connect through https, tiki rewrites the URL using port 80 instead of 443 and I get an error with the tiki generated URL https://www.domain.com:80/HomePage
<br> I have already checked the HTTPS port settings in the control panel | Login and it keeps showing 80, even when I overwrite it. The database shows a null value in Tiki_preferences table.
<br> Note that just https://www.domain.com produces the error described above. If I enter a valid page directly in the browser,e.g. https://www.domain.com/Contact+us then it works perfectly.
<br> Please let me know how I can resolve this issue.
   Tiki|bot: Recent Bug: - http://dev.tiki.org/item5733
Jyhem: <u>deeku</u>: do you have some set up a Tiki HomePage? Maybe a full HomePage URL which includes http:// or :80?
deeku: yes, the actual URL is https://www.calport.com so you can test it online. Thanks.
<br> as you can see, the link / URL is just https://www.calport.com but tiki changes it to https://www.calport.com:80/HomePage

Jyhem: <u>deeku</u>: yes, it is exactly like you described. So what is the Tiki HomePage config like?
   Tiki|bot: Recent Bug: - http://dev.tiki.org/item5734
deeku: checking, Jyhem... thanks for your help
<br> in ControlPanel | Wiki,I have Wiki Home page set to HomePage. If you want the value of other config parameters, just let me know

jonnyb: hi mattbmc - saw your message from early this morning (my time) - welcome back to tiki! :)
   <br> and hi deeku too
   deeku: hi jonnyb!
Jyhem: Sorry deeku, I have a couple more things to do and then I need to run out. I can't remember off-hand where the homepage is set
jonnyb: <u>deeku</u>: you probably need to change the ssl setting on admin/login like "Use HTTPS login" and "Protect all sessions with HTTPS"
deeku: Thanks Jyhem. Yes, jonnyb, done that but no joy.
jonnyb: is your .htaccess up to date - it changed a lot between 9 and 14
deeku: I am trying protect all sessions; was resisting for fear of being locked out but no that you are here, I will be bold.
<br> I am using the newest htaccess, no problem there.
jonnyb: if you can still get to the database you can remove that pref
   deeku: yes, I can
jonnyb: usually it's the other way round - tiki makes the port 443 when you need it to be 80 in my experience
-: Jyhem was wondering if :80 was hard-coded in the homepage setting
jonnyb: yes, seems odd the admin pages work ok (if i understood the situation correctly)
Jyhem: everything works except redirects to the homepage
<br> but "Protect all sessions with HTTPS" sounds very good, too
deeku: the homepage setting in database or controlpanel?
<br> "Protect all sessions with HTTPS" was enabled, but no joy
<br> Directly edited the database, set https_login to required, http_port to 443. Cleared cache. Still no joy.
<br> If I can do anything to .htaccess to work around this, please guide.
jonnyb: sounds weird deeku - do you have any modifications to the site? like custom theme stuff?
deeku: no, though I did upgrade directly from 9.10 to 14
jonnyb: if you go to pages other than the home page like https://example.com/my+other+page does it still revert to port 80?
deeku: No, actually all other pages work perfectly - https://www.calport.com/Mobile+Website for example
jonnyb: i see - bizarre indeed, it tries to go to https://www.calport.com:80/HomePage so https and port 80
<br> it has to be a setting somewhere if it's not a customised index.php or something
deeku: i checked index.php - it is the bare bones, out of the box, version
jonnyb: any multidomain perpspectives trickery going on?
   deeku: no
jonnyb: how about admin/general/navigation "Homepage URL" setting? (and some other near there)?
deeku: checking jonnyb - thanks very much for racking your brains on this.
   jonnyb: :)
<br> sometimes i end up looking in admin/profiles/export which will show you all the modified prefs and you could then search for "80" in there?
   fabricius: polom anynews there?
   jonnyb: polom fabricius
fabricius: I likely cannot make it tomorrow, cause I have a phone conference in the association and I have to attend
<br> will write it to the list anyway
   jonnyb: ah shame
<br> ok, would have been a good opportunity to talk about fosdem
   <br> brb

jonnyb: well that's odd deeku - now my localhost is playing up on it's home page... wonder if it's connected? (seems unlikely)

deeku: and I seem to have made some progress
   Telesight: joined #tikiwiki
deeku: in .htaccess icommented out DirectoryIndex index.php and uncommented DirectoryIndex tiki-index.php index.php. The problem with the port 80 redirect is solved.
jonnyb: hmm, i tihnk something's gone a bit wrong with the tikiIndex pref for me
deeku: However, I now land on tiki-index.php which thrown an error instead of displaying HomePage
jonnyb: all index.php does is redirect to $prefs['tikiIndex'] which for me is now empty
   brolin_empey: joined #tikiwiki
deeku: so amazingly index.php shows HomePage but tiki-index.php throws an error!
<br> see https://www.calport.com/index.php - this works fine but https://www.calport.com/tiki-index.php does not
jonnyb: it's the pref labelled "Use Tiki feature as homepage" and somehow i'd managed to clear that out
<br> there must be a bug in there
<br> i get "You do not have permission to view this page." on tiki-index.php
   deeku: yes
<br> even when logged in as admin
   jonnyb: wheras https://www.calport.com/tiki-index.php?page=HomePage works fine
<br> so it must be something to do with the home page prefs
   deeku: ok, checking.
<br> hmm. the only option I get for "Wiki home page" is --. Is that odd?
<br> You were spot on, jonnyb. I reset the Wiki home page setting and all is well now. The home page shows as it should.
<br> Many thanks Jyhem and jonnyb.
jonnyb: hmm, so souns like something went wrong in the upgrade
<br> any chance you could add a short note somewhere on doc.tiki.org? maybe on the tiki14 upgrade page?
deeku: Absolutely, doing it right now.
jonnyb: thanks deeku - glad we could help (and all help each other ;) )

   jonnyb: moloq gezza
   gezza: hi jonnyb
<br> i am having trouble with composer
<br> seems like some packages that are used by the new file uploader does not appear at composer.tiki.org
jonnyb: oh - oops, did i miss someting out?
gezza: i cant make local update, composer is complaining
jonnyb: although it works on another test server on trunk
   <br> you dud setup.sh?
   <br> dud/did
gezza: nope, i dont usually, let me check
jonnyb: usually it's best to use "sh doc/devtools/svnup.sh" which does composer and the database and perms all for you
<br> however, i don't see the extra packages on https://composer.tiki.org i was expecting, so maybe something went wrong
gezza: it is complaining about blueimp/javascript-load-image
   <br> and blueimp/javascript-canvas-to-blob
   <br> i dont see these at composer.tiki.org
jonnyb: yes, they don't seem to be there
<br> most odd - i've definitely seen it working on someone else server :)
   gezza: update 11 days ago
<br> i reemember updates stopped before
   jonnyb: <u>Jyhem</u>: you about? :)
gezza: last time it was some typo I made in satis.json i beleive
jonnyb: i changed the case of javascript-load-image (to lower) - wonder if it didn't like that
   gezza: i found: https://irc.tiki.org/irclogger_log/tikiwiki?date=2015-05-23,Sat&amp;sel=15#l11
<br> it was something with the require section, checking r55508
jonnyb: ah, maybe i forgot to add that bit - doh!
gezza: yes, those two are not added to the "require": { sections
jonnyb: weird - wonder how it worked on my local and the other test then...
   <br> will add them now
gezza: maybe you copied instead of getting from composer
   fabricius1: joined #tikiwiki
gezza: just finished a long contract, getting back to tiki now, want to check this new goodie
jonnyb: ok, have added them now
<br> the script should run to update it at 19 mins past the hour
   gezza: great, thanks
jonnyb: i look forward to your feedback on it, it's a nice improvement imho ;)
gezza: an it be used by forums and other places where you can upload files?
jonnyb: so far it's only on tiki-upload_file.php but the idea is it should be used wherever filegal files are uploaded
<br> forum images are really bad - they're stored in the database which quickly becomes unusable sometimes
   gezza: I see
   <br> step-by-step :)
jonnyb: as i feared gezza (and Jyhem) we do have a problem on https://composer.tiki.org - seems it got stuck on 2015-10-03 and i think it was when i renamed a package - oops
gezza: yes, seems so, it did not get updated
jonnyb: we need someone sysadmin-like to do this stuff: https://dev.tiki.org/composer#To_flush_out_an_incorrect_package_on_composer.tiki.org
<br> i think it was blueimp/JavaScript-Load-Image which i renamed to blueimp/javascript-load-image (for consistency, meh!) that's casued the problem (maybe) - it's all witchcraft imho
   <br> bb, more tomorrow
