A question about strings: When there's an apostrophe in a string in a .php file like
throw new Services_Exception_Denied(tr('You don't have permission to create new items'));
It has to be escaped, right? like '
just like double quotes in {tr}Click on the "Edit" button{/tr} macnific: joined #tikiwiki chibaguy: oops, I mean it has to be escaped here: tr('You don't have permission to create new items'), right?
But then not escaped in the language files?
luciash, are you here? (my question ^^^ ) leagris: joined #tikiwiki luciash: chibaguy: sorry, was not paying attention :)
chibaguy: yes, it has to be escaped chibaguy: Ok, thanks. luciash: chibaguy: in language.php it does not need to be escaped, because it is in double quotes chibaguy: Right, I see. luciash: best would be if everybody used proper apostrophes instead of single quotes, but that is another story ;) chibaguy: :-) luciash: chibaguy: I think you could also use double quotes in the .php file to avoid the escaping chibaguy: oh, ok. luciash, chibaguy : yep, that's right, except for using "proper" double quotes is not better per se. It is less performant, because PHP will then look for variables it has to expand. So: as long as there is no variable in the string, it is better to use single quotes and escape apostrophes. chibaguy: ok, thanks, amette_ . Right now after my commits I'm getting a white screen, so apparently screwed something up. ;-) amette_: :)
Would be good to have KGB back, too. leagris: joined #tikiwiki olinuxx: joined #tikiwiki leagris: joined #tikiwiki

Also the Log in box doesn't open up, when I click on "Log in", which seems to be a related issue. Anybody has any idea what that might be? skarn: joined #tikiwiki Tiki|bot: New Forum Posts: Unable to Make Images Side by Side - https://tiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=57715
