[FIX] annotations plugin: Resolve confusion over form submit events, add a popover tooltip to display label and link properly, and cope with new lines being added in the label (now more of a description) which were breaking the plugin completely, plus other minor fixes.
Thanks BSfez, chibaguy and marclaporte olinuxx: jonnyb, the link "item5493" is pointing to an issue that was opened a while ago. We found a fix for that which is attached in the given link (see the comments) and I'm wondering how I can get it upstream when it's hot (in my brain at least) ? jonnyb: Yes, i saw your comment and the code, thanks olinuxx: jonnyb, no worries jonnyb: sorry, trying to read it properly olinuxx: no worries jonnyb: basically there;s an easy way and a not so easy but better for everyone way ;)
so i'm guessing you don't have commit access olinuxx ? olinuxx: jonnyb, I don't know
(then I guess : no :) ) jonnyb: let me have a look, do oyu have a sourceforge account? olinuxx: that's my first time with trying to get something upstream in Tiki :)
yes, i've got a sourceforge account jonnyb: and you seem to be on the devlopers group on our sf.net project, so it looks like you can commit it yourself, but never done that yet, right?
I'm guessing you can code - are you familiar with svn? olinuxx: "never done that yet" : you are correct
"I'm guessing you can code" : not really, but I'm often close to the code, so I guess, I can commit something
jonnyb, johnny, I'm not that familiar with SVN but I am a bit with GIT
so I guess an hope it should be the same way : checkout, patch, commit ? jonnyb: sorry, i don't have time now to take you through the whole thing in detail - the short version is check out tiki branches/15.x, fix the code, test it and commit
yup yup
the branches should be explained here https://dev.tiki.org/Where+to+commit olinuxx: jonnyb, does that need to be backported to 12.x ?
ok, I'll have a look to that, thanks jonnyb
I'll be back if I had some other questions jonnyb: if you need it in 12 then commit to 15, then backport to 14, then to 12 - dull, but has to be done that way olinuxx: ok jonnyb: we will automatically merge fixes in 15 into trunk
here's more info than you should really need on committing https://dev.tiki.org/Commit+Code olinuxx: ok
I'll have a look later this arvo jonnyb: and finally when you were added to the commit list you should have read and agreed to these little rules: https://dev.tiki.org/3+Rules
i'll have a look at the commits when i get back and will be in touch if needed :)
oh, a final final thing is it's a good idea to get onto at least the dev list (called devel) here https://sourceforge.net/p/tikiwiki/mailman/
and if you're going to do much committing then also the anachronistically named tikiwiki-cvs list, which is the commit notification list

And wasn't there an example on dev somewhere?
Ah, https://dev.tiki.org/Wishlist+Search+Page probably... there's nothing to be seen thought that would enlighten me.. jonnyb: hi amette_ - the search checkboxes on the fields only do the old filters at the top of the items lists, nothing to do with custom search amette_: aha, ok jonnyb: also, numeric searching is always tricky - which engine? amette_: elasticsearch
1.7
I saw the disclaimer about only es indexing those as float. jonnyb: by the way i did some fixes for elastic v2, seems to work ok now in 15 (and backported to 14 and 12) amette_: Just wondering, if I should try to have a look in my es-indices to see, if it actually indexes it.
ah, nice, cheers! :) jonnyb: coo, maybe Jyhem: pom pom pom amette_: mop mop Jyhem jonnyb: polom -: Jyhem wonders how to organize local development.
Jyhem thinking about local VMs Jyhem: should I use vagrant? Is there something better?
virtualbox is kind of Oracle, right? amette_: right
I'm wondering what your needs are? Why would you need multiple VMs? Jyhem: so I can get a local copy of a buggy Tiki, fix it there and just switch it off
instead of soon having tens of old databases for past jobs and past copies amette_: You'll have bloated the dead overhead of a non-running Tiki from a couple hundred MBs to a couple GBs. Jyhem: Well, that's part of the point of having a new desktop with 32Gig of ram amette_: So you need something to tell you which DBs to delete instead of a more sophisticated system to create more stuff to delete. ,) Jyhem: Well, I see other advantages, like trying other PHP versions, mysql/mariadb, all that amette_: That's actually the only advantage I see. Jyhem: so, I suppose that's not the way you work :) amette_: And I'd create one virtual machine for each of the possible environments and then install as many tikis into them as needed... I guess it's rather rare that one of your customers has a highly special environment that you need to replicate?
Yep, I try to keep the variance in my infrastructure as minimal as possible. Jyhem: I agree with idea of «one virtual machine for each of the possible environments and then install as many tikis into them as needed».
I'm just wondering about popular VM strategies/software on desktops amette_: I can wholeheartedly suggest libvirt/KVM and virt-manager as the desktop frontend.
s/suggest/recommend Jyhem: ok, then that's a second vote for libvirt (out of two so far) :) amette_: 100% :) Jyhem: i had vagrant in mind because i think that's what lph used to use. but that was 7-8 years ago
I don't even know if he still does amette_: Vagrant is nice, but afaik it makes most sense, if you have to share the virtual machine environments with other developers. Jyhem: ahh, I see. Unlikely for now Tiki-KGB: 03jonnybradley r57733 10branches/15.x/lib/jquery_tiki/wikiplugin-annotation.js
[FIX] annotations plugin: Don't add the link to the list twice when creating new ones, also truncate the list text at the end of the first line (thanks BSfez) amette_: Hmm, ok... the data is in the search index, so that's not the problem then...?!
