RadoQMoin. I want to use AGDLP (role-based access, nested groups) with windows-AD authentication applied to group of pages. I glanced over the 12.xxx LTS demo and could see group-inheritance applied to the whole wiki. How / where can I assign those groups to groups/categories/namespaces of pages? [11:20]
Bsfezthanks Luci [11:22]
luciashRadoQ: Admin > Permissions you set global perms for users assigned to groups, in Admin > Categories you can override the global perms on objects assigned to those categories and lastly you can override by object perms too (e.g. one wiki page can have different perms for the user groups)
RadoQ: keep in mind, Tiki's permissions model is permissive rather than restrictive (means if you have two categories assigned where one category removes the perm for a group and the other one still has it, the object is still accessible by the group)
[11:24]

The tracker feature is hidden by default as it is an advanced feature (pref filter need to be set to advanced)

jonnybjonnyb also strongly believes there are too many remarks boxes everywhere to be useful [12:12]

[12:16]
Tiki|botjoined #tikiwiki [12:20]
Jyhemwell, I'd just display the 4 choices after a short text saying "these are the features you see". With corresponding checkboxes so they can change it. But then, the drop-down is useless. [12:21]
BsfezI like it better than the dropdown [12:22]
Jyhembut +1 to improve the wording. Like mention that you start with the "basic" only [12:22]
Bsfezyes
it give an crucial information… there are more mode (than basic) ! :)
[12:22]
JyhemJyhem finds a lot of important stuff is hidden in little drop-downs nowadays. [12:24]
chibaguyThe flip side of a "cleaned up" interface is things not being visible anymore (without a click or hover).
I guess the trick is to find the right balance.
[12:28]
Bsfezyeah all done !!!! [12:30]
JyhemAgreed. I see the problem, not the solution :-( For instance, the wiki pages topline has a rule "drop-downs are visible, buttons are hidden". It should be "important things you use all the time are visible", but that requires to discuss and agree on what is or is not important
So, something for 16.x
[12:32]
jonnyball thise little menu/toolbar things should be proper configurable menus so you can customise what shows and what is dropdown, imho, starting with quickadmin (yes, hopefully for 16.x) [12:37]
Bsfezgarden is a bit cleaner… gtg have fun all [12:40]

[14:58]
Jyhemjonnyb: I hope it uses the value from the databse as default? Or does it guess from the filename all the time? This bug makes no sense to me (then again, it's a bug) [14:58]
jonnybi just uses a lower case version of the extension (and mime-type just in case) [14:59]
RadoQIs it easy/simple to integrate windows-AD/AGDLP into tikiwiki permissions structure so to manage it all on AD-level?
(or even possible at all?! ;-)
[15:00]
JyhemIt's definitely badly designed, then :-( Once a mime-type has been selected, Tiki should not change it using the file name. It should leave it unchanged until the user changes it
RadoQ: AD-Tiki login synchronization is known to work
[15:01]
jonnybJyhem: what do you mean?
there are several extension possible for many mime-types, so this is just trying to pick the right one
[15:03]
JyhemRadoQ: group synchronization has code and configuration available, but I'm not sure it's production-ready
jonnyb: Say a jpeg file is wrongly named foo.zip Since I can edit the file properties and set the myme-type to image/jpeg, all is good.
jonnyb: But once I edit the description, it would silently put this mime-type drop-down to application/zip ??
[15:03]
jonnybi guess - but i suppose if there isn't a matching mimetype/extension in the list it should show "unknown" of something
of/or
[15:06]
Jyhemjonnyb: my point is, it should default to what is already set, not guess every time
when I edit a document properties, it gives me the previous name as default, the previous description by default, etc. I expect the mime-type to stay unchanged if I don't edit it
it's not an issue about "unknown", it's about not relying on the file name when the mime-type is already known
[15:06]
I tried with weirdly-named files
upload is very good at detecting the mime-type
but afterwards, editing properties breks down :-(
Different, more obscure bug

chibaguyThe bootstrap navbar has three components for the brand (float left), button (float right), and links between (a ul). The tiki method of using divs (modules) in one containing div doesn't mesh with that nicely.
You can custom make a bootstrap navbar in Tiki of course, but using the standard modules and menus doesn't work very well.
