hi all
I have finally nailed down the issue i have been haviing with very slow page saving
after compring and exporting/importing tables one by one
it was so do with a notification I had set to alert me by email if a p[age is changed, once that is off the pages save quicky
I was hoping to use this feature to keep an eye on new pages being created so I can provide feedbackl to our end users about best practice
having this feature on results in pages takinhg 15-209 seconds to save
20
how can i get this working faster if I want to leave this feature on, or is it something I wil just have to leave off?
Another Monday, another polom
I'm just about to break dev.t.o slightly to see what the minify js issue is - stand by :)
 Arun1: hi jonnyb
problem solved with my slow page save issue, see above
jonnyb: hi Arun1 - great, good to hear (no history on this, i'll try and check the logs one day ;) )
Arun1: you tried to help me with it last week ll
lol
unless there is a jonnyb clone out there
jonnyb: yes, i remember the problem, but there is no "above" to see here
Arun1: <Arun1> hi all [11:00] <Arun1> I have finally nailed down the issue i have been haviing with very slow page saving [11:01] <Arun1> after compring and exporting/importing tables one by one [11:01] <Arun1> it was so do with a notification I had set to alert me by email if a p[age is changed, once that is off the pages save quicky [11:02] <Arun1> I was hoping to use this feature to keep an eye on new pages being created so I can pro
<Arun1> how can i get this working faster if I want to leave this feature on, or is it something I wil just have to leave off?
so basically it was an email notification about page changes
jonnyb: aha, i see - what were you using to send the emails? just sendmail? sdounds like there's a problem there (unless it was trying to send 100's of notifications)
 Arun1: sendmail
jonnyb: you could try using another smtp mail server to check
Arun1: it should have been 1 notification to 1 email address
i could point it to our exchnage server
but it should be fine with sendmail, its onle one email
is it defintely not an issue with tiki? could you try it?
jonnyb: most tikis send notifications via sendmail, usually it takes less than a second
doc.t.o might be slow because of this though, but i think that's because there are lots of people watching everything
Arun1: this is a new site with no users
i'll try routing via SMTP
ok routinh through our exhcnage server is fine
so its an issue with sendmail
jonnyb: What sort of server is it? A standard linux one? Maybe it's a network routing thing?
 Bsfez: joined #tikiwiki
 Arun1: its linux...
cant be a routing thing becuase the page does eventiually save and email received
but anyway im happy to leave it routing through our email server
is there a way to create an alert only when a new pages is created, not with every page edit?
even with the setting not to include minor edits we are getting lots of unnecessary email alerts
Hello all, good morning from Brazil!
 jonnyb: polom montefuscolo
sorry Arun1 - sadly not at the moment, it has been requested before though so might get done one day...
Arun1: shame, I think I will have to turn alerts off, users are already getting annoyred
is there a RFC mechnism to formally request features/changes?

montefuscolo_: If someone here speaks english, please, review https://doc.tiki.org/ViewerJS for me?
 fabricius: checking
checked and now montefuscolo_?
montefuscolo_: fabricius, did you find any error? just for it
if it is good, so it is good :)
fabricius: not really an error. I find it quite complicated to install for a normal user
montefuscolo_: I had to install ViewerJS and it was not clear, so I tried to enhance that page
 fabricius: thank you
montefuscolo_: I'm trying to update docs whenever I have good content to write
 fabricius: sure that is good!
curl: is that an alternative to wget?
why viewerjs has to be downloaded and manually installed? licence issue?
why it goes to htdocs/tikiroot/files and not to htdocs/files besides and outside tikiroot or why not to htdocs/tikiroot/vendor-custom?
montefuscolo_: fabricius, yes .. I always use curl
 fabricius: thx
montefuscolo_: fabricius, I don't know to be honest
fabricius: it works only when in tikiroot/files?
is ther a path to be set in preferences?
montefuscolo_: fabricius, I think there is preference to set the path, but by default, it points to tikiroot/files
fabricius: ok, similar to file galleries
I just ask, as maybe I could add a few things to the page
montefuscolo_: fabricius, I think vendor folders are intended to hold composer packages
 nayana: joined #tikiwiki
fabricius: montefuscolo_: I thought there was one vendor custom folder for manually added vendor files - not sure
do you think tikiroot/files is a good place?
montefuscolo_: fabricius, yes, I think it is a good place to hold this kind of thing. Because we block php on that folder and users can place there whatever they want
fabricius: hmm montefuscolo_ I have learned from the community to not use this folder for storing files (mainly regarding file galleries) and usually when I need a quick download link for a file I have the option to put a file there *temporarily* for a few minutes and to lets s.b. download from there - by default this folder imho seems to be openly accessible from the net - *afaik*
montefuscolo_: fabricius, good to know. I think it should hold just public files, not private content
fabricius, may a good idea discuss with community what kind of thing we should store there
fabricius: afaik tikiroot/files is for having a solution working out of the box on shared hosting ...
thx for recognising my thoughts
are coming to Brussels this year?
montefuscolo_: No! This year I helped my wife to study and now I have no money to travel
I will miss the party :(
fabricius: next year maybe or a TikiFest in Brazil !?
 Bsfez: joined #tikiwiki
montefuscolo_: May be, but I have to be honest I like to travel to Europe. :D
