hi there, is it possible to create permissions so that some pages cannot be referenced in the search module when the user belongs to a certain group ? thanks in advance
I've worked my way through all the article related to categories, groups, permissions etc since 3 days but still can't get it Bsfez: Mmmm... you mean showing search results depending of the user group(s) ?
I don't remember and I don't have a sample case to check, but I believe permissions are applied on search too. (meaning user can't find what they can't see) jonnyb: 96 poloms in the shade
tikifanatic: there's a pref on the search control panel where you can list categories to be excluded from the search index...
called "Excluded categories"
however, that's no good if you want them to show for some groups and not others, sorry...
just use normal object (per page) or category permissions for the pages, the search index won't show pages users don't have permission to see automatically tikifanatic: @jonnyb yes I saw that, but it only refers to the visibility of the module, not the data base where the module searches
so it indexes all the pages anyway
mmmm jonnyb: Page permissions affect that page, nothing to do with modules, maybe i misunderstood? tikifanatic: then I don't understand, i've checked the permissions of the category and un-ticked the permissions for the groups that I wanted to exclude, but the pages are still visible somehow jonnyb: when you say "referenced in the search module" do you mean "found"? tikifanatic: yes sorry jonnyb: so really you are uasing tiki-searchindex.php? tikifanatic: absolutely jonnyb: ah, you'll need to rebuild the search index after you have changed mpermissions of added groups orr categories etc, maybe that's what's missing? tikifanatic: I try now
thanks for your answers anyway, means a lot jonnyb: np :) tikifanatic: and i'm sorry but how do you rebuild the index? is there like an option "rebuild now" ? jonnyb: yup, there's an option on the quick admin module, and a button on the search control panel
you can also use the command line (i.e. php console.php) tikifanatic: ok rebuilt it, nothing changed
i assume there must be a problem in my category permissions but i really don't see how
does the "unified search index" have something to do with this ? chibaguy: joined #tikiwiki jonnyb: polom chibaguy Bsfez: Hi Jonny jonnyb: tikifanatic: the unified search index contains the permissions on each page, so it only shows what people can see - if a user can see a page then they can find it in the search results chibaguy: hi jonnyb, Bsfez and all jonnyb: hi Bsfez too :) Bsfez: Hello Chibaguy luciash: hi Bsfez , jonnyb , chibaguy , tikifanatic
tikifanatic: make sure you do not have more than one category assigned to the page where permissions of the other category could be affecting the visibility of the page too jonnyb: pompom luciash luciash: _bowbow :) tikifanatic: jonnyb: ok so I re started from the beginning and removed all permissions from the 2 groups, but when connecting as a member of these groups I'm still able to see all pages from the website... slowly going crazy haha jonnyb: sorry, have my own crazy creating list plugin thing going on here - how about checking tiki for smarties permissions tutorial? zlinux: joined #tikiwiki luciash: tikifanatic: did you have removed the permission from Registered group? Because everyone is member of Registered when logged in
tikifanatic: please note there is no way to have user logged in without being in the Registered group
tikifanatic: does that help to clarify things? tikifanatic: ok thanks I didn't know that... I checked and Registered members have no rights either luciash: ah, bummer, really? strange you can view the pages then... is Anonymous group inherited in Registered too?
(that inheritance can be optional iirc, check your groups settings) tikifanatic: okkkk thanks it finally works ! I had to remove all permissions from the anonymous group
thank you so much luciash: tikifanatic: yw -- you could also remove the inheritance of Anonymous group perms in the Registered group... that should also work, but then Anonymous could see all pages and Registered none, which is kind of weird ;) marclaporte: joined #tikiwiki montefuscolo: joined #tikiwiki jonnyb: joined #tikiwiki
