In fact the reason I came here is because I have a question about Snort on 5.2, and for myriad reasons I cannot upgrade to 6.x right now, and there is no upgrade path
So I was hoping some old timers might be hanging out who could answer questions about a couple of snort rules that have been spamming my logs for years for no good reason 		[21:53]

Explain that the channel had essentially been abandoned, and that you are interested in helping revive it
There is probably (all but certainly) an owner on file with them, someone from ClearFoundation. Search the CF forums; there was a discussion a few years ago about making it an active, or at least weekly, meetingplace
Whomever was involved in that would likely be the person to talk to at CF about introducing you to the freenode ops who can give over the chanop function 		[22:23]
