TimBurgessTimBurgess is back [21:53]
MAvLTimBurgess, Hey!
How goes the development of your Owncloud app?
[22:01]
TimBurgesshey :)
It's going well thanks, the app is more or less done, but needs some input from the other dev members to get it finished.
Primarily for the integration with the users app
[22:08]
MAvLokay
nice!
[22:11]
TimBurgessThey are pretty busy with the 6.5 release so may be a little bit longer
How are you?
[22:11]
MAvLyes, fine
you?
[22:11]
TimBurgessyeah good thanks, relaxing after a busy weekend [22:12]
MAvLfamily duties or work? [22:13]
TimBurgessfamily - my daughters birthday party yesterday
:-)
[22:14]
MAvLcongratulations! [22:14]
TimBurgessthanks [22:15]
MAvLhow old is she become? [22:15]
TimBurgess2
only small
[22:15]
MAvLokay
i have a niece of three years and nephew of one year
[22:16]
TimBurgessnice - good ages!
have you experimented with beta 2 yet?
[22:17]
MAvLalways to visit my siter
just installed beta 2 in virtualbox
marketplace looks really nice
[22:17]
TimBurgessyeah Ben has been working on improving it [22:19]
MAvLIn my opinion the Marketplace was a good idea
it's become better and better
[22:20]
TimBurgessYes, would be nice to see more third party apps though [22:23]
MAvLtrue [22:23]
TimBurgessIf I can get some more time, I'd like to push some more out [22:23]
MAvLyou are a handy guy... [22:24]
TimBurgessPetes been working on the dev documentation and tutorials to try and help [22:24]
MAvLdid you teach it yourself writing apps [22:24]
TimBurgesshandy at some things ;)
yes - self taught PHP
[22:25]
MAvLokay [22:26]
TimBurgessIt's not so bad once you get into it, and how the codeigniter system works
Just a way of structing your code really
structuring*
[22:26]
MAvLbut you also have to package stuff
like transmission
i suppose you have some sort of install file
[22:27]
TimBurgessnot necessarily - that's secondary. It's much easier to try and find an EL6 compatible RPM and use that
EPEL, Atrpms for example
Or indeed a package from clearos-core
They can be pulled into the build system, and your app can reference it as a dependancy
Any progress on the IRC front?
[22:28]
MAvLdave is working with erry on it [22:32]
TimBurgessah ok, great [22:32]
MAvLthere is also #clearos the founder is steven he made me ops
Dave asked me if i was interested
[22:33]
TimBurgessgreat :) [22:33]
MAvLthis is also the idea with #clearfoundation [22:34]
TimBurgessis that instead of the clearfoundation channel?
I see
[22:34]
MAvLit's pan B
*plan
or maybe use both channels
[22:34]
TimBurgessOk [22:35]
MAvLI hope that this time the irc channel project succeed ...
to go back to the apps stuff.., for example subsonic.., this is available on sourceforce. How is the done in this situation
there is a fedora / red hat installer
[22:37]
TimBurgessOK, so all source code needs to be provided in RPMs - you either need to find a third part EL6 compatible RPM you can use, or package your own
That's good, so they have probably done most of the leg work already in terms of dependancies and libraries etc
[22:39]
MAvLit's a rpm when you download it
you can very easily install in on clearOS
[22:40]
TimBurgessOK, that's good - do they provide a SRPM so that it can be built elsewhere? [22:41]
MAvLhmm, not sure
sourcecode is on sourceforge.net
[22:42]
TimBurgessyup I got it
http://sourceforge.net/projects/subsonic/files/subsonic/4.8/
[22:43]
MAvLi suposse the subsonic-4.8.src.zip is the sourcecode [22:45]
TimBurgessyes
the issue with java apps is whether they can be built by third parties, or include closed source java components
the latter is a problem for source code distribution
[22:46]
MAvLhmm, okay [22:47]
TimBurgesshave to check out the licensing / build instructions? [22:47]
MAvLquote Subsonic is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the
GNU General Public License.
[22:48]
TimBurgessHmm maybe OK? depends on how its packaged up I guess [22:51]
MAvLIt's getting late
i'm going to bed
[22:57]
TimBurgessOK - night! [22:58]
MAvLnice talk! [22:58]
TimBurgessTimBurgess is AFK [23:05]
.... (idle for 18mn)
